Cutting taxes at a time of deficit.

If I had to pick from TOS, the episode where Kirk dresses as a Romulan, the corbomite manoeuvre, Spock and the Rock Creature, and the episode where Kirk goes back to NAZI times.

Between 1900 and 1940 there was a great shift in what Left and Right meant for the political spectrum. Prior to this, Left was allowing women the vote, allowing non-property owners to vote, allowing non-Christians to vote even, while Right was standing up for the powers that existed. After this, Left was for Socialism, redistribution of wealth, giving money to the poor, larger governments with larger supports, so on and so forth. Left and Right is changing again. The old left-right argument is over. We found a balance that works. There is a new left-right argument out there. In the old Left, the Green Party of Canada is moderate and somewhat centrist. In the new Left, the Greens are firmly left-wing. The new Left is about a Global unity of ideology, doing for others, working for the world and the community, thinking universally, ignoring national boundaries, and so forth. The new Right is perfectly exemplified by the things Harper stands for. His stances on Kyoto, Abestos, the Environment at large, the Gun Registry, etc, are all firmly in the new right, even if they fit the old right as well. Our system is changing. Look at Canadian elections and UK elections for example. From 1960 to 1990 both countries had instances where we only had 3 parties in the chamber. Compare this to elections in both countries from both 1930's and today, and you'll see the growth in parties and ideologies, etc. Our entire worldwide political system is changing, and that is why there is so much apparent chaos. The Tea Party VS Occupy debates are not just last vestiges of the old system; they are the founding sparks of the new system, and this will be the new left-right debate.

In PEI since the 60's, the Liberals have campaigned and run the province more to the right than the PC Party. This was true for Ontario as well right up until the Miller-Harris era. If I understand correctly..... NL PC-Centre Lib-Centre to Centre right NDP-Centre left PE PC-Centre Lib-Centre (slightly leaning left under Ghiz) NDP-Centre left Grn-Centre left NS PC-Right Lib-Centre Left NDP-Centre (slightly left) NB PC-Centre Lib-Centre NDP-Centre Left QC PLQ-Centre and Federalist CAQ-Centre to Centre Right PQ-Left and Separatist QS-Hard Left and Separatist ON PC-Centre Right to Right Lib-Centre to Centre Right NDP-Centre Left MB PC-Centre to Centre Right Lib-Centre NDP-Centre to Centre Left SK SKP-Centre Right to Right Lib-Extreme Libertarian NDP-Centre Left AB PC-Centre to Centre Right Lib-Centre to Centre Right NDP-Centre Left to Centre Wld-Right to Hard Right BC Con-Hard Right Lib-Centre Right NDP-Left to Hard Left Grn-Centre to Centre Left YK YKP-Centre Lib-Centre NDP-Centre FED CPC-Centre Right to Hard Right Lib-Centre to Centre Left NDP-Centre Left BQ-Centre Left Grn-Centre to Centre Left

I also do have a personal bias (everyone does) I think the Federal Government should be about half the size it is now, and provincial governments should be 150% the size they are now. That will obviously skew my views on things.

I've always been fully supportive of our men and women in uniform. We've not had a government that's truly supportive of them in a very long time. L or C, Red or Blue, we just need someone to back them up as they back us up every day. They are willing to die for us; are we not even willing to speak up for them?

I've not seen any trollish behaviour yet. I don't know if it's possible to put this as a technical law (something the forum would automatically do) but in many forum games (specially word games, like, add 3 more words to this "letter" to soandso) there are unofficial rules that you must wait for 2 other persons to post before you can post again. So it's like You Some guy Some other guy You Some guy again Some other guy again etc.

Personal insults are normal, as are mindless debates; but normally it's between more than just one poster and another. Usually it'll be between a group of posters, like for example... 1 Republican and 1 Democrat start arguging another Dem joins in 2 GOPers find the thread 1 Dem leaves 3 on 1 for a while, the Dem logs off The 3 GOPers finish up the discussion A Dem finds it a little later, starts it up again 4 other Dems post throughout the night The 3 GOPers find it the next morning.... Here it seems to be like Random person and Bush_Cheney start arguing the end I suppose I could join in to shake things up

The moderate NDP parties campaign from the middle, and the right-wing PC parties campaign from the right.

I remember that "the thong song" was big about the same time as DS9 and I always thought that the video would have been awesome if done in ops of DS9

Moreso compared to Federal policies. Provincial Liberals in many provinces are much more right-wing than Federal Liberals. Provincial PC members on the other hand are often quite to the left of the CPC.

Ontario - Hudak holds onto PC Leadership
TheNewTeddy replied to MiddleClassCentrist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
This. Leslie Frost was the best Premier we ever had. Today, the politicos will tell you that you can have either or, subways or highways, etc. Frost not only built the subway, but he built the 401, and brought in human rights on the side. Frost did things in the 50's we can't do today. We need another Leslie Frost. -
...and to head off future comments, the Ontario PC Party, at times, uses a Reform Alliance playbook. Harper uses one too and it won a majority government.
-
In Ontario, Quebec, and BC, (and Alberta for that matter) the Liberals use a PC playbook. In the last Saskatchewan election, the Liberals seemed to have used a Ron Paul playbook...

Cut it down. The best single minute in all of trek history.

Cuts VS Taxes -- Ontario
TheNewTeddy replied to TheNewTeddy's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
No! All of that is from hard work and the reason Ontario and Quebec are poor is because they are all lazy. I once had this argument - both this post and the one I posted above - presented to me seriously. The guy actually meant "only 25%" and was not sarcastic. I thought I'd share these posts here for those who are in the need for a bit of levity. -
I've only been "back" for a short while but I'm noting a pattern that longer threads tend to default into either pages of debate between two posters back and forth, or, personal attacks. I'm wondering if this is normal for these parts or if I've just rejoined at a "bad time"

Star Trek went though a refining process that ended when Riker grew his beard, and began to rot during Voyager.

TOS did not age well at all and I dislike it for that. TNG, at least starting in the 3rd season, has aged very well. The 1st and 2nd seasons have not. Some good episodes (reviews) Tapestry http://sfdebris.com/startrek/t241.asp Darmok http://sfdebris.com/startrek/t202.asp Waltz http://sfdebris.com/startrek/d535.asp In the Pale Moonlight http://sfdebris.com/startrek/d543.asp Other goodies: Voyager: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Living_Witness_(episode) Living Witness http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Blink_of_an_Eye_(episode) Blink of an Eye http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Counterpoint_(episode) Counterpoint http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Year_of_Hell_(episode) Year of Hell (both parts) Enterprise http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/ENT_Season_4 (pretty well any of them) TNG http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Who_Watches_The_Watchers_(episode) Who watches the watchers http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/The_Inner_Light_(episode) The inner light http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Chain_of_Command,_Part_I_(episode) Chain of Command http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Gambit,_Part_I_(episode) Gambit DS9 http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Duet_(episode) Duet http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/The_Siege_of_AR-558_(episode) Siege of AR-558 This entire arc - http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/In_the_Cards_(episode) The DuKat on the Station arc This entire arc - http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Inter_Arma_Enim_Silent_Leges_(episode) The final arc And of course, the above mentioned entry from TNG. My favs of these would have to be the group that includes the first 4 with link reviews, as well as Watchers, Inner Light, and Living Witness, but the latter for the ending (as that could be a whole entire show on to itself) It's hard to pick between those 7, but the Voyager episode would be 7th for sure. The TNG entries are all very strong and individually beat the DS9 entries I think (DS9 was stronger as a whole however, as TNG had some very very weak episodes, and, weak seasons, while DS9 had no such thing) which leaves us with Darmok, Light, Watchers, and Tapestry. I think part of the reason I like Tapestry is seeing Picard in blue, which leave us with 3. Of those, Watchers, while an amazing episode, clearly is in third IMO, and in a head to head of Darmok and Inner Light, I say the latter wins, and so, I suppose it's my single fav episode of Trek.

My computer can't handle Civ V, and I think it's sad the requirements were made so high.

Man this movie sucked. I just saw it earlier today. You could substitute any random crazy old lady in (and of course substitute in her memories, not Thatcher's) and the movie would be by-in-large the same. It was not about Thatcher at all, rather some woman who happens to be Thatcher.

Not certain I understand the above the discussion... but I'll pose a second question: where would you cut? -

Ontario has oil, in Labmton county, which contains Sarnia. Enough oil is produced from these wells to supply all of Lambton county.
