  1. Not a fan of Broadbent, but I can respect his plan to clean things up in Ottawa and I am glad Harper has comandeered sections of it for use in his Accountability bill. Normally I'd rip Harper a new one for not having his own ideas, but I think this is a non-partisan issue and all Canadians benefit from this so I can excuse it as long as he gives credit to Broadbent where necessary.
  2. I was watching a show from the US where they were argueing about the porous Mexican border and terrorists coming through. One of the guys made a great point in saying something to the effect of forget about Mexico, it's Canada we have to worry about because the terrorists are already there and have a large Muslim population to hide in. I think it's also important to mention Canada's increasingly adversarial role against the US in the way we are giving asylum to US citizens seeking to escape military commitments. And a ton of them drive trucks which can easily hide large bombs and transport them cross country. I actually saw US customs parade 7 of them out of a truck once. YES! 7! Out of a truck that can legally hold 3. Logistically hold 4. 7! In a Volvo VN770! The customs agent beside me in my booth and I first dropped jaw and then laughed our butts off. She told me it happens once or twice a week.
  3. Agreed Hicksey. It angers me that they liberals promote tolerance, yet are the last to actually show it. Apparently in Canada, your either with them, or American. And thats just not fair. There are plenty of us conservatives that don't agree with whats happening the US and are very devoted to seeing a better Canada. It's too bad that the Liberals are gaining back momentum due to their intolerant attacks. I said it in another thread and I'll repeat it here. I don't want to become the US either. But I realize what they are to us. Without them consuming like they do -- 70% of our exports are consumed by the US each year -- the socialist wet dream going on here can't work. Without them acting as big brother and protecting us and taking us around the world we would have to have a respectable sized military which costs money. I don't want to be them, but I know what they mean to who we are and I respect them for it.
  4. If only Canadians knew their socialist wet dream isn't possible without countries like the US that consumes fully 70% of our exports. Without the US to protect us like our big brother we'd actually have to have a respectable military. Where would the all money for our utopia come from? I don't want to become the US anymore than the libs. But I see them for what they are and respect them accordingly.
  5. Unless the Germans beat us to the fourth reicht, conservatives will always be that to the left in this country--otherwise we fall to fifth. I am so sick of these self-righteous liberals wrapping themselves in the Canadian Flag and telling me I am the next coming of Hitler because I am conservative.
  6. I don't even know what they think about al-Qaida... Well the fact that the Khadr family is roming around free in Canada should tell you something. It's also largely ignored by the leftist media that Jean Chretien secured the release of Ahmed Khadr from Pakistan freeing him to continue his fight against "the great satan". I know. I think that liberals believe that our innate right to commit acts of terror is written into both the US and Canadians Constitution and the Canadian Bill of Rights just for good measure. Come on now, although terrorists are "not true followers of Islam" they have the right to practice their religion. Especially if it involves the propegating of Jewish and American hate... From you I see that as sarcastic. But from the left of either of our countries I could see that being a serious statement.
  7. Exactly. Even Bush treats his political enemies with respect. Examples include the recent tour of the White House given to Robert Redford, one of the loonies who said he'd leave the US should Bush be elected, as well as the tributes given to Bill Clinton. Remember when they did the hanging of Clinton rendering? That speech was classy. As respectful as you'll ever hear one party be to the next. Right. Total class. After the scorched earth manner in which Clinton left the White House and all the bashing of Bush by Bill and Hilary, Bush offered complete praise of Clinton and continues to do so despite Clinton's relentless bashing of him. The SBV were pretty hard on Kerry in 2004, well at least I thought so. I don't condone Kerry's actions back then, but it was 30 years ago. That and and the Dem dart that never stuck -- Bush's ANG record -- should have been history. I think Harper's getting it worse than Kerry did and that's saying a lot.
  8. And liberals eat this stuff up. Amazing isn't it?

  10. If that's not sarcastic, you really need some help.
  11. I know. Me too. But conservatives aren't allowed to do it. There are rules you know.

  13. Moral and intelectual bankruptcy is what the Liberals are mired in. Add hypocracy, and mixed thoroughly in equal parts a Liberal you'll make. They scream negative when we quote them in commercials. And listen to them of late ... They've sunk so low I hear Lucifer has been recruited to stump for them.
  14. The offensive against christian/catholic values is just sickening. It's not OK for a PM to display and be proud of his religion by asking God to bless is country? Political correctness has long been getting out of hand. I don't find it offensive when people of other religions invoke their religion like such. I thought we all had that right in Canada. I guess unless if you're catholic the Bill of Rights doesn't apply. I agree...I am not very religious but I do have faith in God. The political attack by the secular left is unbelievable. Do they have shame? I will stand up for my values and I will stand up for what I believe in. I do always. Poltical correctness is for the weak. I call a spade a spade. I need to correct myself here. I said ... It should have read ... I hear Liberals invoking God's name all the time and not one of them ever gets called on it. But when a conservative does the scary religious-right-wing extremists are out in force to destroy Canada. Its amazing how many idiots there are out there that buy this nonsense.
  15. Harper is getting a stacked court stacked with Liberal appointments and he's going to politicize the courts? Do these people think we're stupid? Harper can't do anything without a vacancy. And its not likely that he'll see enough vacancies to do anything of substance with the court. What's next Mr. Martin? Will Harper threaten put gays and lesbians in concentration camps? I'm just not as good as this fear mongering as Martin. I'm sure he can come up with something closer to being morally repulsive and scarier too. He's got 2.5 days. This is where politicans go when they realize their ideas are inferior.

  17. Nope. They're so petrified of offending a minority that if we got threatened as a result Martin would hand over the keys to Sussex Drive to try to fix whatever they found offensive. If it weren't in their best interests to keep North America terror free, I wouldn't blame them if the Americans refused to help. After all, all Martin's done is scream no and belittle them every time they ask for our help.
  18. You Libs are really grasping for anything aren't you. I'm not sure how anyone could be worse than Paul Martin with respect to foreign relations. Not only has the guy burned our bridges with our largest trading partner but has also failed to keep promises on Kyoto and foreign aid. Not to mention the guy has no verbal skills and makes us look like fools any time he opens his mouth. I mean seriously we'd might as well have Porky Pig representing us. We could take a bum off the streets, clean him up, prop him up and not see a noticeable change. Well, maybe the bum would be a little more coherent ...
  19. It's in "The Small "l" Liberal Playbook", and the Redbook. They're just following directions. It says that "whenever you run out of ideas and answers just scream Conservative=Hitler and all will be well."
  20. I don't think the Liberals have any real ideas of their own. They tend to make promises based on other parties' ideas and then renege on them once they get power back. Their whole agenda is to maintain power to keep plush appointments and jobs for themselves and their buddies. It's basically an elected mafia. That sounds about right. I find it hard to believe the Liberals could come up with anything on their own. Considering if you split the brain trust between two seperate factions of the party they can't run an election let alone a whole country.
  21. Just amazing the levels Martin will sink to. BTW ... does Preparation H work on Grits? might it make their poll numbers shrink?
  22. And don't forget that should Harper be elected he'll be out raping old ladies, burning down black churches, beating up gays and just causing overall chaos and pandemonium--and that's just for starters until liberals can come up with something else for him to do. Only people that know their ideas are inferior need to engage in this kind of slander/libel/defamation. Remember that. They know a minority government could never achieve any of the things they're being accused of and if they even tried the three opposition parties would put them out on their ear. They think Canadians are stupid. It's the only explanation for it because if they didn't they'd never serve up this kind of nonsense.
  23. I hope Candians are smart enough not to believe the half-baked truths and scare-mongering going on by the Liberals, liberals and NDP. Anyone with half a brain knows that with minority Harper cannot do all the things all you Liberals/liberals accuse him of lest he bring his life in politics to an abrupt screeching halt. Even with a majority there's the liberal supreme court to overrule anything he does that doesn't pander to any number of minority groups. IMO, all this fear mongering is being used because their ideas are inferior and they know it.
  24. Did you see the clip of a comedy show from the USA? The comedian adviced the Liberals they should imply Harper has an illegitimate black son. You talking about Jon Stewart?
  25. Sad is the word all right. Here we have two parties slugging it out in the public forum, using low blows every chance they get, talking about the inadequacies of the other, whether corruption, or lack of patriotism, incompetence or hidden agendas, and you hit the nail on the head. The Conservatives are liberal lite and the Liberals are conservative lite, and there is less difference between them and the genetic differences between white cats and black cats. Frankly I find the whole scenario unbelievable in the sense that I can't believe anything either one says, and I find it way too believable because both parties have shown signs of being envious of the American two party system where each has to be exactly like the other in the peoples minds in order to win. Once victory is achieved that mid term foresight disappears and politics becomes mere,ly a vehicle for improving the conditions for the politicians and their respective friends. There is incidentally some governance but more by chance than by good intent. Not even the Americans are so silly to believe that Harper doesn't have political realities to deal with here and because of that aren't any more excited than they were with Martin. There's a few quotes about it in yesterday's London FP. In fact, they said that they really dont care who's in office, they just want a majority so they have a coherent government to talk to that isn't more concerned about its own survival than the issues at hand.
