  1. So what! Somebody tells you to jump....you just jump without thinking....just because these so-called world leaders and SOME scientists tells you to? Cant' we decide for ourselves? You'd rather hang on to every word of these leaders who comprise this so-called all-knowing accord - most of whom are countries ruled by dictators and mired in downright slimy corruptions? Why would you want to give your money to these people? Who are they to have such qualifications to see to the well-being of the world....when most of them can't even see to the well-being of their own people? Most of them begging for hand-outs and relying on charities of the few wealthy nations? And before you go back repeating the same baloney Suzuki wants to sell - leading countries like China to follow our footsteps - read post #1! Follow our footsteps my foot! Who's actually being led by whom? I question the rationale and sense of judgment of those who would rather BLINDLY FOLLOW LIKE SHEEP! And to think we look at ourselves as a "world leader." Hah!
  2. Years ago, a letter to the editor of one of the leading newspapers in Ottawa had put down "whites" as being bigots. It was a generalization of all whites. Basing it on his experiences. The photo of the letter sender showed him to be either of Arab or East Indian decent. It was a bitter rant. Very offensive. You know what? A lot people responded pronto. Promptly countering the accusations of this one man. Moi, included. Most of those who responded defending the whites are immigrants.
  3. That's kind of how I see Gore. Exactly. Gore was referring to himself when he spoke of fraud! He should've been standing up there on stage wearing a t-shirt that says: me.
  4. Yes, those darn scientists, can't be trusted. Never mind all the advances in technology, drugs, health care, transportation, etc, that they come up with that we use every day, the minute we get to anything surrounding climate, they are to be doubted and second guessed at every second. But not all scientists agree to this environmental thingy! The report was not really conclusive. What Suzuki and company wants to do is to take a suicide attitude.... of jumping with both feet into Kyoto (with our blinders on)....with total disregard for the impact on our economy! Given the rabidly aggressive attitude of key environmentalist leaders....a very thorough digging by adept investigative journalist...I wouldn't be surprised at all if later on we learn that this is the biggest fraud to have hit the people of the world! Somewhere, you bet someone is making a whole lot of money out of this!
  5. Yes, I definitely agree.
  6. Yeah....but I guess he doesn't want to crack another diet book. The market is saturated with them. Much easier to cash in on the environment, while hysteria is high....and gullibility abound.
  7. Ha-ha-ha! Apparently Gore voted against Kyoto when he was vice president. So now, is Al Gore peddling his books? Oh boy.....so easy to change one's tune...for the love of money, eh?
  8. I know so little of the incident. But if it's true that it happened outside of Canadian waters, I'll tend to agree with you. Unless the plane was targetted specifically due to the citizenship of most of its passengers.....which makes it our affair.
  9. I would prepare myself spiritually. And say all I want to say to all my loved ones.
  10. Yep. Good ol' money. Btw, maybe we can do some kind of a group dance? You know....pray for raining money?
  11. I've said in the post above that we may have contributed something negative.
  12. Well maybe Canada should look into developing these masks. At least we'll be ready for chemical warfare. Two birds in one stone! Anyway, do you know how Siera Club spinned the Liberal inaction? They said Canada was broke when the Liberals got into power. It took them that long to fix the economy....that's why Dion was only starting to do something about the environment when the Liberals lost the last election. If so, then all the more reason I applaud Baird! Baird learned from the experience of the Liberals. See? No money, forget the environment!
  13. But what do you mean by "cautious?" I don't call it being "cautious" to spend billions and cause an economic upheaval that could bankrupt Canada just so to "honor" our agreement, so that Canada wouldn't be branded a party-pooper. TRY to fix something that can't be fix....and do it all in one year??? And when we're broke, then what?
  14. What about the pollution from Gore's aircraft? I hope he's paddling on a canoe...seeing that he's a prolific traveller meeting all these speech engagements. How about volcanoes long dormant suddenly waking up? Heck, Colombia had just seen it's first volcano eruption in 500 years! So many questions. True, we may've contributed something negative....and perhaps if the situation is so calamitous that it means the end of life on earth, don't you think we should be doing something realllllly drastic? Never mind the Kyoto target! Let's go beyond that! Let's go for the gold ring! For starters, how about banning all machineries that uses gas or any types of fuels? That includes cars! Let's all just bike or walk to work! And back to the use of the old scrubber when it comes to doing laundry! Ban those BBQs! Siera Club Hazell suggests we all go vegetarians....well then, let's do that! You know what....I think it still won't make any much of a difference. Earth is still going to do what it's scheduled to do. It might be time for an overhaul. Maybe we should start planning to put more irrigation systems in the prairies....prepare cities for floodings....build infrastructures to accomodate for these climate changes.
  15. Somehow, this reminds me of the Y2K panic....except, on a much, much super grandiose scale. Darn, I fell for that one!
  16. Uh-oh. This environmental thingy seemed to have founded a cult. Al Gore must be its Supreme High Priest.
  17. If our economy gets whacked, you bet your bottom bippy there'll be a "climate change" in Canada alright. Our lives will change. What do you do with those hundreds of thousands of people who'd lose their jobs? To businesses who'd lose a great chunk of consumers? And so on... It's easy to say,"oh this green environment will create new jobs." They see everything in the crystal ball, don't they? But what happens if the crystal ball was only telling lies? A struggling, and financially-strapped Canada will not do the environment any good. And you bet we'll be kissing our "leadership" in the international stage goodbye.
  18. Yeah! I wanna see if he'll still go full throttle with his tunnel vision....if he'd still let his fanaticism rule his head, making irresponsible decisions with total disregard to the impact in our society. After all, it's true what Wilber says. Suzuki right now, has nothing at stake...no office to lose...no accountability to face. What is obvious is that Suzuki seems to be getting his rocks off scaring the helluva out of everyone. He seems to relish the hysteria he is fueling. And this hysteria is catching! Face it, he loves the limelight! But of course, without any catastrophic event facing the world....how can an environmental activist bask in full glory? Gosh, what a rush! It must be quite heady especially when many certain people begin to see you as "the saviour."
  19. You know....any average well-read citizen will somehow have a grasp about the environment...the facts...the lies...whatever there is one would like to know. I'm sure there are books and theories galore available right at your fingertips. Especially when environmentalists are trying to sacre the pants off everyone. But does Suzuki have any understanding at all about ECONOMICS? I would assume....none. That's why he's trying to shove it under the rug...and wouldn't want to talk about it. Doesn't want Baird to talk about it. I would bet Baird has more than adequate knowledge about what's going on about the environment - the lies, the truth, the histrionics, whatever - MORE THAN Suzuki has any knowledge about finance. And I would say that Baird is more likely looking at the issue in an objective way...wheras Suzuki' tunnel vision is fueled by passion. My point is: it's like the pot calling the kettle black. Suzuki is nothing more than an environmental hobbyist...or activist.
  20. Somehow I think most rational people would feel stupid wearing it, a lot of parents wouldn't like, want,or allow their children to wear it and I think this campaign will deep 6 very shortly. All the creative agencies in Toronto and this is the best they can come up with? Hope McGuinty uses a similar campaign in the fall election...."FLICK OFF with The LIberals!" And in my view, this "Flick-Off" seemed to have just turned the real issue into some sort of a fad....gives the impression that the environmental issue, which according to environmentalists is the apocalypse of humanity, seem less real. You know, like it made light of the alleged seriousness of our situation. I can't find the exact term for it.
  21. I know. That's why I was surprised that apparently you hardly did any digging at all about Atkins. Lol. Your opinion was made about it without any researches at all....at least that's what it seemed like. Go look it up, please. Just a few facts about Atkins: It does not count calories. It does not count fats. You can eat as much meat and cheese that you want. Atkins advices against processed meat and processed cheese. It does not totally eliminate carbohydrates. The amount you eat depends on your own body's response to it. The only time carbohydrate is cut back to its lowest count is during induction (2 weeks)....to help you get the sweets/carbohydrate out of your system. A lot of people go through withdrawal at this time. I did. Since eventually we'll end up having a boundary as to how much carbohydrate we can consume and still lose weight....or not gain weight (depending on what your goal is)....Atkins advices to plan the kinds of vegetables we eat, that we get more out of it! You can eat pasta or rice....AS LONG AS YOU DON'T GO BEYOND YOUR LIMIT of how much you can eat. For some, half an cup of rice or pasta is the limit! Because those items are very high in carbs, therefore it is not practical to waste up your carb allowance on those items....especially when you're not getting much out of it in return, nutrition-wise. Most fruits tend to be high in carbs because of their natural sugars. Leafy greens like lettuces hardly make a dent on the allowance and yet they gives tons of good benefits. Atkins went as far as not including the fiber count on the carb allowance. Yes, it gives you wolf-breath. That's why greens and items high in chlorophyll helps. You can drink your wine....although Atkins advices to shun from alcohol if you are trying to lose weight since alcohol slows down the metabolism. Later on, you'll find that you only tend to eat when you are hungry. You'll notice the cravings gone. And you'll tend to eat less, not because you have to....but because your body says so. Splenda, a sugar substitute is the preferred choice of a lot of Atkins followers. It's made from real sugar! And it bakes, cooks like real sugar....measured like real sugar. And most importantly, tastes like real sugar! And yes, apparently this diet had been used on diabetics! And diabetics do end up living on it....so it is "do-able." It is a diet...or should I say, a way of eating.... that one can stick to.
  22. Partisan hack -A person who supports a political party or cause over other parties or causes. Thank you Canuck E Stan. Well, then I am a partisan hack! I happen to believe and support the Conservative's idea of handling the environmental issue. Maybe we should give the Cons the equal amount of time....let's say a decade......before we compare their positions to that of the Liberals? How can we avoid partisanship? Two different approaches by two different sides. Take your pick. And all the more partisanship runs high since the issue is so "fundamental to all human life." NOT JUST ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL aspect of it....but how the implementation of decision will have an impact on our economy....on our everyday lives! And yes, sad to say.....David Suzuki and company (which includes most environmental activists and self-proclaimed environmental advocates) are not only dabbling, but neck-deep in their deliberate practice of partisanship! All we need is look at Elizabeth May, for starter. And yes. We need to wake up!
  23. So You approve of this campaign......got any kids? I said, the slogan works....because it got my attention. You know what I thought after a while of watching, "why would they choose that slogan?" Because it'll end up being"butchered"....made fun of ....thus it will distract from the real issue. Would I wear it? No way!
  24. What do you mean by a "partisan hack?" Can you please explain.
  25. Hey Betsy, good to see somebody challenging my claims. I always do research before saying these things, but I definitely appreciate that you want to see my sources and make up your own mind. If you want to really dig into this study I recommend this article by Sandy Swarc, whom I have a great deal of respect for and have mentioned before: http://www.tcsdaily.com/article.aspx?id=042505D If you want to look at the technical release, here's a small page on that from the Journal of the American Medical Association: http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/abstr...ourcetype=HWCIT It's a little dry and technical. But the authors interestingly also speculate that "The impact of obesity on mortality may have decreased over time, perhaps because of improvements in public health and medical care." I will note that some people have questioned some of the steps they've taken in order to account for a variety of confounding factors. But most agree that their stance on their methodology is defensible, and that these numbers are a huge improvement over the big 400,000 screw-up. I don't know what to make of it. It's the other side of the coin. Of course, if I am to be paranoid by researches and studies done by one group....what guarantee that the opposite side's reasearches and studies are as how they are touted to be. I mean how can we really identify what is pop science? You know what I mean? At the end of the day....I guess we'll just have to rely on common sense. Our own choice to make.
