They have not exhausted all the options. First of all, it's UA that has created a big problem when they overbook. They should've anticipated scenarios like this. Why don't they up the ante, until someone volunteers? Give the flight for free to anyone who volunteers to take another flight, and give free accomodation until that next flight. Keep upping the ante until someone volunteers. Money talks. It'll cost UA, yes....boooo-hooo-hoooo....too bad. United Airlines wants to have its cake, and eat it too.....that's the problem here. At the expense of, and to the detriment of its customers. The effing nerve! I'm sure no passengers of UA had ever imagined that they'll be dealt with brutality if ever they get into a dispute over something like this. BOTTOM-LINE: This man didn't commit any crime. He wasn't an unruly passenger, either. Wrong! I can sic the cops on you - I may even sic a pitbull on you if I feel I'm being threatened by your presence on my property. If you even make the wrong move, I just might shoot you where you sit on my front step! Unless my home is deemed as a "public place," if you're not invited....you're a trespasser! A menacing trespasser at that. All that is irrelevant! UA's policy with overbooking should've included anticipating this kind of reaction from some passengers. They should've had a tactful plan B! It's not the first time their policy shows contempt towards their passengers. Just look at that case of the guitar! Theor frontline people are morons - and their executives are arrogant! If this guy wins in court.......they all should! It's a great incentive to get greedy, arrogant companies to stop treating people like dirt!

The ads that appear right between topic titles are annoying, though.

Just for the record - I love Israel. I can criticize, but I'll never bash Jews.

The moron(s) on that plane would be the employees of United Airlines. What were they thinking???? See the repercussion of that rash decision to involve the cops? Not only did the stocks drop, their CEO got dragged to the hot seat, and this video will go viral on forever - it even resurrected these videos (also about United Airlines): See? United Airlines employ morons!

That's good. he apologised for having offended the easily-offended. He's raising the apology card for this folks who're more likely into the apology rites, like raising and giving the soosie to a bawling toddler. You just never know what can trigger someone this days, and have them wanting your head on a platter! Boy, a lot of folks are like land mines - you do a mis-step by saying the wrong thing, and they go popping off.

Foster Home Shut Down Because of the Easter Bunny
betsy replied to Boges's topic in Religion & Politics
We don't know really how the scenario unfolded. Why was the case worker dictating to the foster parents to be the one to say that the easter bunny is real? The caseworker for the child (being the designated guardian for the child), should be the one to say that, if it's so important to the girl. When we applied as foster parents, we were upfront with our Christianity thus we don't give rides to children to take them to a non-Christian church. CAS takes care of that ride (the situation hadn't risen with our experience). It requires a delicate balance to respect the belief of others, without sacrificing one's own. I would've said something like, "people believe in different things. Ask your mom next time you see her what she thinks about it. I'm a Christian, and our celebration of Easter is about Jesus Christ." -
Squid? Have you been surfing in "strange" places?

Why all the worldwide turmoil? (9/11 thread)
betsy replied to hot enough's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You think the "watchdogs" - the ones in power who'll be putting that cap, would cap theirs? Look at Socialist/Communist countries. You think there is really equality? They still have people struggling in poverty. The ones on top - and their cronies - aren't doing what the "collective people" are doing. The ones in power don't belong to the "collective" group. -
Bombardier - and our questionable leaders
betsy replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Who said anything about standing on food lines? The fact that our government made a stinky deal - without protecting taxpayers money - is what's really at the root of this. Of course greed will make executives try to get what they can! If they are allowed, why not? The fact that they can - that the government didn't even think enough to prevent this from happening - is what's galling. Thus, I question the integrity of our leaders. Whoever made this deal, and whoever signed on that dotted line, is either corrupt, or incompetent. They should be made to step down. -
He thought there was another flight out that same day. He was willing to delay his flight....but when there was no flight out, he came back because he has to see patients the next day. Are you saying patients have to be affected by the airline's incompetence in handling the situation? If your child is awaiting surgery - and your surgeon happens to be that man - you okay with that? The CEO didn't bow down to the left wing. He bowed down to the stocks dropping! But he did admit that the airlines failed to provide more training and procedural instructions to their employees. That's quite obvious. We don't - and we never - try to justify UNNECESSARY police brutality on civilians.

Whether he's a felon or not, is irrelevant. If he's already served his punishment for his crimes, his past is irrelevant. They didn't have to be brutal about grabbing him from the seat! You could see it from the video. The airlines didn't try hard enough to contain the situation. When the doctor said he had to be home because he's seeing patients, the officials should have offered to ask if anyone wants to volunteer in his stead. Other options should've been exhausted. The doctor's got a bloodied mouth - and at his age 69 - that's abuse of an elderly! I'll be scared too and run back to where people are! He's saying, "they'll kill me, they'll kill me...." He got scared!

Still sounds like a cheesy screenplay from an awful B-movie. Anyway....whatever, eyeball. If that's your thingy, what can I say? To each his own. This topic is about evidence for God. You're into your own explosion, and becoming your own creator - with nothing to support your assumption. Well......you should create your own thread.
-
I'm talking about the title itself, Argus. Read my response to Moonlight Graham. I'm not criticizing your OP, btw......I just couldn't help but be amused about the irony.
-
FACT: His past is irrelevant. We can't, and we shouldn't justify brutality as such. The comparison with a doctor's patient isn't relevant either. This man had paid for his travel. He has every right to be there. It's United Airlines that has a faulty policy. Even its CEO had finally admitted to that.

You can't even recognize the contradiction in what you say - even after it's been explained to you? If you're going to be a part of something in death - in your case, you say "being part of a process" - then, death wouldn't be "nothingness." Whether you're a conscious observer or not, if you're part of something, that's not nothing. You're talking mumbo-jumbo. Senseless. You talk like the screenplay of a very awful, convoluted B-movie (science fiction). All your assumptions has no basis whatsoever.........none! And yet, you won't consider the possibility of a Creator? That's what boggles me.
