Your response: That's an amazing interpretation. How can a debate happen, when you have such an outrageous interpretation of a sentence, compared to how I see it? How can mine be an outrageous interpretation? You may be reading it - but you're not looking hard enough! The verse didn't say, "be ready for every work." It says, "be ready for every GOOD work." Obviously, that's the condition: GOOD work! How do we know what's good or bad......isn't it through our conscience? I gave one example - the one that came to mind was about abortion and euthanasia. Christian doctors have been fighting to reserve their religious right to follow their conscience. Whatever justification humanists/secularists give to make murder seems right - to a Christian, it's a grievous sin to commit murder. In a nutshell: We should help the poor......however, Giving shouldn't be made compulsory. That includes rich people, too. It has to be voluntary. It has to come from the heart. Charitable acts should not be made public. We give not because for the applause and compliments by people. We work for a living. We don't free-load. Equality, and helping does not mean to finance someone so he can keep up with the Jones'. If someone had worked to have luxuries in life - why would we resent his wealth for it? That's translated to envy. Do not covet. Do not steal. Even if you're being Robin Hood - it's still stealing.

Welcome to this forum! Your participation is very much appreciated. So many of us regulars have been on this site for too long - we need fresh blood. Fresh input. I understand that it takes some time to get comfy in a new place, especially with folks that's been here for decades.......the way to settle down is to be regularly active. Post a thing or two everyday, so we can get to know you too. Before you know it, it'd feel like you'd grown old here with us!

Whether those left-wing folks had gone for good, or they're simply embarking on a little outside adventure, their departure didn't affect this site that much by the looks of it. I've done my adventures away from this site as well.....but see, I'm back. Not that I can't participate in other forums, I do! Who sez you can only be active in one site? There are still a lot of leftwingers here - the threads are moving. The regulars here are logging regularly. There are a few Canadian sites out there - when you look at their stats for the latest post, not only are they few but you'd see that those who posted are the same handfull of posters. I saw a site that had only about 4 or 5 posters who posted throughout the day- and they're all leftwing! It's a leftwing club! Where's the fireworks if everyone agree with each other in issues that are worth talking about? People come for the fireworks! So, right off the bat - that site is blatantly epic stale! This site has improved a lot as there's less mean-spirited trolling, and the posters seem to be practicing self-restraint, and they're now a whole lot relaxed, and at ease. We got sign-ups of newbies! Now, if we can only encourage these newbies to become regular posters, we'll be ecstatic!

He has to keep the Commandments. But the man said he'd kept them already, and persisted to ask what more should he do. So Jesus told him that if he would be perfect, to sell his possession and follow Him. No one is perfect! Jesus knew that. We're not expected to be perfect! Socialism is fueled by covetousness, which is against the commandments. Our rights and freedom (speech, opinion, belief, etc..,) is part of our system. That is how our democratic system works - and we are governed by a democratic government! In fact, we are expected to exercise our rights. Therefore, there is nothing against that Biblical verse when we exercise our rights.
