  1. I think that way too....I think of Mad Max world - do I really want to survive and live through that? I don't think so. ...however, we won't know how we're going to react if ever we know a missile is coming. The instinct to survive might kick in.
  2. Contrary to predictions - religion grows.

"Evangelicals increased their total numbers as Canada’s population grew.

The same goes for Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs.

He had accurately forecasted a long, drawn-out decline for the United Church of Canada and the Anglican Church. But some religions were getting an infusion of new blood."

In effect, organized religion in Canada has found its saviours: immigrants.

Immigrants aren't voting Liberals for liberal reasons.

They don't like the Conservative stance on immigration - that's the simple reason.  But they're bound to be more compatible with Conservative values!

  3. Have you read One Second After? https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4922079-one-second-after
  4. Forget what I said! Gee, all I did was refer to Lawrence: Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4865902/Jennifer-Lawrence-says-Hurricanes-nature-s-rage-Trump.html#ixzz4t3bOES8K Who would've thought that would unleash a hurricane of anti-Walmart tirade!
  5. What's Walmart got to do with this? I'm talking about air-head Jennifer Lawrence (who would've thought?) So disappointed in that girl.... Besides....we got our Walmart too, you know. Add Tim Horton to that! And our pathetic Sears - who behaved worst than the Capitol in THG! Lol, freakin' anti-Americans surely are out to lunch. Methinks, they're simply green with envy.
  6. Isn't that a cite for paying lip service to human rights? Weren't human right advocates loud enough for him to hear. If he's that stupid - what's he doing playing PM? I suppose we can blame stupid people for voting for him?

  8. Did you see that video with Japan's air raid siren? It's loud enough to wake you. For something like this, I think we should have something mechanical - you don't want to rely on high-tech that can be hacked into and jammed. I've seen emergency alert testings on tv. But that's good only if the tv is on. They shouldn't use the siren that's used for tornado warnings since tornadoes often times don't materialize. Hearing the same thing over a period of time is like hearing the boy who cried wolf.
  9. If you've got the necessary equipments ready like heavy duty plastic and staple guns or heavy duty tapes - 20 minutes gives you enough time to seal off a room. Survival may be a long shot, or practically nil, but I think trying is better than just standing there waiting to be blown away. You don't want to wait for that impact and the flash before you start scrambling. The instinct to survive will kick in, and most likely we'll scramble to get away. Oh boy.....wouldn't you be so frustrated to know that you haven't any place to go.
  10. IT was on my status update......but this is serious folks, that I have to bring this up here. We hardly have any air raid sirens (left from the previous war). Japan woke up recently by the sound of blaring sirens. Looks like no one really knows the score about this: https://oaem.ca/tag/air-raid-sirens/ The old air raid siren would've given people 20 minutes to take cover. So, how does the government plan to warn people if a missile is coming? The USA still has them, plus they use emergency broadcast system (if you've got your tv on - I suppose that will help). They got them in Denmark, too (according to a Dane poster) - and they still do testings. What about us?
  11. Do we have an air raid siren?

Japan woke up to air raid siren when NKorea launched a missile.

Uh-oh.  Looks like most of them are gone.

A bit of research and I found out that most were removed by the Department of National Defence (DND) back in the 1970s because they were rusting and becoming eyesores. The Federal Government had no money to maintain them. These sirens had been installed back in the 50s as part of the cold war effort to be prepared for air raids. Those sirens would give about twenty minutes advanced warning for people to take shelter in case of an enemy attack.

Apparently there are a few left, some web sites show two in Toronto and a few in BC. DND admitted in an interview to the Toronto Star in 2007, that some may have been missed from the inventory. In fact, there was controversy as to who actually owned them. The Star called the City of Toronto, who referred them to the Province, who referred them to DND, who referred them back to the City of Toronto.

There was a time when the sirens made sense and the investment was justified. Times change however, and technology advances require us to constantly revisit the premise upon which we made a decision. In emergency management, much has changed as well. I started my emergency management career by having to pull out the emergency plan once a year, turn to the telephone list, and call everyone to make sure the phone numbers were still valid. Back then a blackberry was a fruit, a cell was a living organism, and a network was a social organization.

For the types of missiles they are talking about nowadays pretty sure a siren won't help much.

Having the time to get to a bunker, or your basement - 20 minutes can be ample time to seal off a room -  it's better than nothing.

Is Justin secretly following the command of Trump?

  16. The posts by Zur is a testament to the mindset of groups coming in. It shouldn't be a surprise that when groups see their numbers growing at rapid rates, and that their COLLECTIVE votes can have a significant clout - why shouldn't they take advantage of it? World domination doesn't always mean taking over countries thru violent force. The left are too naive - and arrogant - in their attitude towards immigrants coming from certain places, to the point that they automatically underestimate them.
  17. British people are but the example of immigrants that should be welcome in this country. Their values are compatible with Canada's. They're also allies.
  18. If people in that country are re-starting their lives and rebuilding has begun (just like in Haiti)......... it's time to go home, folks.
  19. One former member's profile says suspended....but he said he got banned.
  20. Refugees must be accepted only with the clear understanding that their status is temporary. We're giving refuge while there's extreme upheaval in their lands. We have to remember that refugees come to us under duress! A lot of them wouldn't dream of shedding off their cultures, and a lot of them actually view the western lifestyle with disapproval.
  21. I don't see these honest disclosures as racist comment. They're simply a reflection of reality that the so-called progressives and left wing, are ignoring. Eventually, the Canada that we all know won't be the same. At the rate we're going, give it another 20 years..... Which ever group is politically engaged, and has the most clout with votes - their culture will eventually rule in the province, or even in Canada. That is, if we follow our current democratic system of government. If it's the Muslim group - don't be surprised with Sharia Law. That's the downside of letting people with values that clashes with ours, into the country. We'll end up fighting for our own values in our own country. This is what I was on about in Philosophy section (Black got killed, Burn Orientals), that confrontations will be inevitable in a society peopled by groups practicing their varying cultures.
  22. Me and reptiles.......golf courses with alligators, have you ever had a close encounter with a gator?
  23. I have no issue with posters using dubious websites for sources - we can counter them, and show they're not credible - that is if we even want to be bothered. My issue is with them appearing all over the place, and the poster(s) practically hijacking every topic. I don't want to gag anyone who's trying to make a discussion (even if we think that the discussion isn't worth it)....as long as it doesn't hurt other threads. It's also a matter of showing courtesy or respect for other posters. His topic may not be worth it to us, but what if some other posters are interested in that kind of thing? Why limit the board?
