  1. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He said he "MAY" vote liberal not that he "WILL" vote liberal. So much for your "evidence". That was not the Paul Martin led Liberals. Martin was exhonerated, but you wouldn't know it from this site! Please show me where it says "Martin was responsible", and where I said "Gomery was a witch hunt". Just some more baseless accusations being made. I would like to see the quote about the "Liberal Party" being responsible for the theft. Are you sure it wasn't just some "members of the liberal party"? Because I just can't recall when the whole party was found to be involved, by Gomery.
  2. My opposition to the conservative party has never been in question. Their policies are full of holes and are nothing more than Election headline grabbing flash and dash. My support for the liberals grew out of witnessing baseless attacks by conservatives here. I step in to point out that something hasn't been proven as a fact, or point out one of the gaping holes in the CPC promises, and I was insulted and called a "liberal" as if it where a racial slur. Since the Liberals are the only party who have a chance of defeating the CPC, and this type of sentiment appears to go rightup to Harper himself, I had little choice of what I could do, to try and stop the CPC policies and attitudes from becoming Canada's policies and attitudes. You at this site made me a liberal. Infact I will be volunteering at the local Liberal HQ this week. Without your "help" in making up my mind I would have voted GREEN, as I did in the last election. Since my wife and I vote together, the Green party curses you and the Liberal party thanks you. Oh ya and after 20+ years of arguing about politics, my Mom thanks you too. That's priceless! This board is easily 1/2 conservative.
  3. Your right,it is a crock......your memory that is. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All it looks like to me is that he said he "MAY" vote liberal. What is with hanging everybody without real proof, or evidence? This is one of the attitudes I am talking about. Harper has the exact same approach in every sound bite. I want some facts. Not accusations and circumstance. That is what the witch trials where all about. My god do we need to learn that horrible lesson again?
  4. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry, it was just the CPC candidate Peter Goldring's campaign team, that make me feel much better.
  5. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You don't get it. You are all an example of the point of views and attitudes of the conservative party. As examples, there have been attitudes and view points that have been displayed in this forum which have left me with no other choice but to support a party I don't want to, in order to help ensure the attitudes and views I have witnessed here don't get the opportunity to form policy for this country.
  6. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> More newsworthy than the accusation, from one of their own, that almost Half of a major political party are closet separatists? O.K. I will give you that. But the fact the media has ingored this story everywhere, blows the whole "liberal media" BS out the window. If the media was truly liberal friendly, "Alberta separatism" would have been dominating the headlines for at least one day, instead of having basically nothing reported at all.
  7. What a joke. Like a conservative is smart enough to make beer or BBQ. Hahahahaha Guy on CFRB just said Harper "looks like a dufuss". It's funny 'cause it's true.
  8. It had it's fifteen minutes of fame. I heard another referal to it just last night. However I have heard nothing about half of the CPC being willing separatists if the Liberals get another minority.
  9. Eueka, You're becoming more Liebral as the days go on. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is the conservatives around here. They drive people to Liberalism. Another example of pure conservative arrogance, and distain for people with different views.
  10. Why hasn't "the damned liberal media" jumped all over this? From what I am seeing on TV it looks like "the damned conservative media" has chosen to ignore this.
  11. He's not a separatist - yet - he's only saying IF the Liberals remain in power, he would looking at separatism, not quite the same thing. However, he has been the victim of some pretty malicious character assassination from a website I won't name, not just that, but they sent emails to him under false pretences to find his real name. I don't hate any party or people who belong to it, but the hate and vitriol from that particular discussion group towards anything comservative is beyond all reason and bordering on psychotic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kind of like the Hate conservatives give the liberals around here!!!!!
  12. Interesting. I wonder if he is right?
  13. I have still yet to see anything, in the so-called "proof" that a half decent lawyer couldn't shred in a minute. As for the NDP's list of facts. If he had done the exact oposite you would have all been screaming he had been leaking information even worse than now.
  14. You see, that woman who left her kids in daycare and went to a bar an forgot about them was reported. Is your mom or friends going to report you for the same thing? Probably not. This is where the trouble with the Conservatives idea of childcare start to fall apart for me. Daycare workers are required to report such neglect to the proper authorities. Most people will be able to talk their friends or family out of such drastic action, by laughing it off in one form or another. This leaves the child in a potentially hazardous situation. A situation they would not be in if there where enough proper affordable daycare spaces.
  15. They have ALLEGATIONS and COINCIDENCE, nothing more. Who knew? The people who's job it is to forcast economic trends. Once it was made public that there was going to be an announcement, any economics graduate would have been able to make a guess as to which way the announcement would go, based on the economic and political indicators. You people are so ready to hang others without all of the facts. More pathetic Conservative insults. Grow up. I am not blinded by anything, but I will not convict people based soley on hearsay and coincidence. Are you really that type of people? For the record I was not a Liberal until I came to this site and met all you Conservatives who turned my stomach with your arrogance, hate and childish behaviour. It was only after coming here, did I make up my mind to do what ever I can to keep people like you from ruining this country. Regardless of any improprieties by the previous Liberal govt. Honest people who have nothing to hide will stand tall meet allegations head on. Only if the calls to alert people where made before the scheduled press conference. As soon as the press conference was scheduled it became public knowledge that there would be an announcement coming from Goodale. At which point, who phoned who, to pass on the fact there would be announcment becomes meaningless, unless the contents of the announcement where revealed. Then it is serious insider trading. But until the facts come out everything is conjecture.
  16. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Must be due to A LACK OF EVIDENCE. You obviously have never been on the other side of the interrogation table. The first thing the cops to do after they have you dead to rights is to try and get you to squeal on everybody you know in exchange for less punishment. If they had proof that would hold up in court, they would be all over the poor SOB who did it.
  17. What is already in place is good. We just need more of it. You are missing the fact that the amount of changes needed to make the Conservative plan work snowballs with every issue of their plan that is raised. What, like it is already? My wife is already trained enough to work in a subsidized daycare. That won't change. Neither will the need for qualified inspectors. We will just need a lot fewer inspectors with the Liberal plan. There will be a lot fewer daycares to inspect under the Liberal proposal. Unlike the Conservative train of thought which would have a couple of kids in thousands of small daycares across the country. There will be a lot fewer daycare centres with more spaces per centre, under the Liberal plan. Under the Conservative plan it will be impossible to maintain any type of standards. I would rather have staff with qualifications than Jane Doe around the corner. You are exactly right , except it is the Conservative plan that will cause the problem. How do they plan to enforce any kind of standards or minimum training, or even conduct inspections, when the kids are spread all over the country, in groups of 3 and 4 or less? What, and a business run for profit, with no enforcable guidelines, will care about the kids more, than the business who must maintain a standard or lose funding? Where are you from? It would take years just for the Conservatives to come up with an appropriate licensing program for the operators of the daycares. Not to mention they would need a new training course for inspectors. Never mind actually inspecting or testing anyone. They would need to create an entire new wing of the Ministry to handle the paperwork and applications. Plus they want to give cash to the parent. Just where is this actually going to save me money? It is a bad plan.
  18. The RCMP are doing no more than they would if allegations of any crime under their juristiction were made. They have found an oddity and are investigating to find FACTS, which support the allegations. Until facts are found it is all supposition and without merit. I think you are getting ahead of yourself. If they had evidence, why did they say they have none? There where some serious allegations made and it is up to the RCMP to see if there are facts which support those allegations. If they already had evidence someone would be in custody right now, with the offer of a plea bargain in exchange for testimony.
  19. Oh so sending a child into places that have no minimum standards at all is a better solution. If you think the Govt. will be able to enforce any kind of basic standard of care for children in tens of thousands small private daycares you have a problem. It won't happen. What will happen is that those who can already afford daycare, will be able to continue affording top quality daycare with the extra $1200, while those who need help will be left to substandard, or possibly a complete lack of, daycare. Let's be realistic how much competion is the local McDonalds to the local High Class eatery. There is basically none. Those who eat at the fancey restraunt are not the same people who go to McDonalds for a "night out". The same will be true for daycare. Those who can afford to keep their children in top quality daycare, will do so. This will do nothing more than drive the price of the quality daycare up. The smaller, private, in house, daycares that will spring up everywhere offering cheap childcare, will not be standardized and would be impossible to inspect. You are being rediculous. Do you know what you are talking about? I have never suggested the daycares are monitored every second of everyday. I know my wife, who works at a daycare, is expected to maintain certain levels of cleanliness, and safety in her workplace. Even though an inspection may only come once every couple of months, atleast they are being done, and there is an individual who is responsible for monitoring the safety of the children and their daycare environment. It will be impossible to provide the same service to thousands of small independant daycare facilities. Tell that to the poor abused 4 year old recently taken from her Mother and Stepfather in Edmonton. Sometimes it is the parents who are the problem, and the teachers at daycares and schools are the first line of defense for the abused children. A private monopoly has no incentive to even maintain the status quo, but the govt. is held responsible every election. Care to give some examples of how standardized National Childcare, will lower the overall standard of childcare? Wait a minute. If it is standardized then there is no way the standard could go down unless the Govt. lowered the standard itself. Unlike a home owner who could lower the standard of care they provide with no public notice or debate. Duh? Create more spaces and provide more workers like what has been proposed. Duh, Drool How much will it cost to set up an entirely new registration, and monitoring system, for the thousands of small daycares that will open? Or do you plan on the Govt. just handing out the money and walking away. What happens if your private daycare provider is sick? It is something that just has to be dealt with. Atleast the Govt. can legislate striking workers back to work. The same can't be said for the sole provider at a small daycare, who becomes ill, or heaven forbid decides to go on a binge of one substance or another. Any abuses are more likely to be caught in a public system where there is more than one adult present, as opposed to an individual running a daycare out of their home who can do what ever they want, without supervision for the entire day. I find it more likely a mother looking after 3 or 4 other kids under 6 will get burnt out before someone who can leave the kids with other adults for short periods. The mother at home has no time off for lunch. They can't get help when dealing with a difficult child, because they are alone. I think the "burnt out" scenario is more likely to occur with small home based daycare. New licenses and a whole new licensing bureau. Add to that new and more inspectors be cause the number of places that need to be inspected will balloon. And then the Govt. is going to foot the bill for some expert to give workshops and seminars across the country on a regular basis. Tell me again how this is supposed to be a cheaper alternative. Just the cost of developing the licensing tests and standards is going to be absurd. Then the Govt. has to train the additional inspectors, hire more staff to run the licensing bureau, and then spend even more money teaching people, what those who actually want to work in daycare now learn on their own money.
  20. What do you know, the RCMP says there is no EVIDENCE. There is only allegations. Save your stakes and crosses, nothing has been proven yet.
  21. Because crack is something new....? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When compared to other abused substances, like opiates, methamphetamines, alcohol and even regular cocainne, Crack is something new. It arrived in America in the 1980s from Jamaica. Under the leadership of a former gang leader Jim Brown, who happened to support and provide protection to the eventual winner during an election. Service, which eventually gave him a Govt. position where was effectively one of the most politically powerful men in the country. Brown was able to have false passports and supporting documentation, made by the legitimate Govt. agencies, on command. He used these documents to freely come and go from the U.S.A.. Before the Jamaican election there where several large violent gangs all competing for power. Jim Brown's good fortunes forced most of the gangs to leave the country for the States. Less suffer retribution from Brown and his new political powers. Brown exploited his old rivals, by using them and their distribution networks in American cities, to funnel crack onto the streets. It has been estimated that if you did crack on the Eastern Seaboard, in the 1980s, there was a 99% chance it came through Jim Brown's network. A network that started with the cartels in Columbia, and ended on the streets of America. The whole idea behind crack is that for $2 you can get high. The flip side is, it isn't hard to do $250 worth a night either. Since the drug keeps people awake and craving more, customers keep coming back until there is no more drugs or money. It is a lucrative business, and is defended with violence. It is only a matter of time before guns follow the drugs and the money. I feel that what we are witnessing in Toronto is just the beginning of local gangs, fighting for more control over the drug trade. Makes me wonder what the violent crime rate in Amsterdam is? And why are we spending so much money busting Marijuana when Crack, coke, Heroin, Extascy and Crystal Meth are all far more dangerous to the individual, and the community at large?
  22. Where are you coming from? Did you not read the original post? Gang youth violence apparently is a direct cause of the unsupervied children of immigrants. Because not all 15 year old want to risk being killed, or thrown in jail. Not all 15 year olds are brought up in a situation where turning to street gangs is a credible option. Again, did you not read the original post? The poster was trying blame immigrants for the violence in our streets. That is a crock. The streets were violent when my Grandfather was a baby. There has always been violence in the city and it is not due to immigrants of colour. Yes I referred to "white sociopaths" because I do know some, and they are known for violence and they are "white". Not some unsupervised child of an immigrant of colour. Is there a PC term I should use like "Pigmentally Challenged"? Did you have a point? Or were you sniping my post for fun?
  23. And to hell with those who can't afford the decent upbringing that you provide for your family.
  24. That is what I meant when I said informing somebody privately. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Sounds like you are actually agreeing with me on this. You appear to have talked yourself into seeing the potential wrongdoing in this one. Good for you! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good for me? Get a life. How very uppity of you to say that. The potential for wrongdoing is a hell of a lot different than actual proof. Why do you fail to see both sides? Is it not just as possible that there was no illegal action? Shame on your small mindedness.
  25. When the Press conference was scheduled that would make the fact that there was going to be an announcement public knowledge. If the press conference was scheduled before the call was made it wouldn't be illegal. But if the call was made before the Press conference was called it would be illegal. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out.
