Paul Martin doesn't deserve this...
The Honest Politician replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Doesn't say reviewing either! It is a form letter. An automated response. Do you really think the SEC is going to waste their money on this while an RCMP investigation is giong on? They most likely are going to wait for the RCMP report to see if the allegations have any merit. -
Harper's hidden agenda sprung a leak
The Honest Politician replied to hiti's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
True. Oil Barons do tend to get taxed alot don't they. Yep a regular MU-HA-BU. Might as well change the country name to SNAFU. You want proven facts? Check out Harper's real views of Canada and how it should be run. You can decide after that if he was just an ultra-right-wing headcase back then, or a complete liar now, who tossed away his values because he knows Canadians don't agree. The only way to get into a position to put his beliefs into reality is to throw money around like "a drunken sailor" like he accused the liberals of doing last election, and lie about his true convictions and intentions all the way to 24 Sussex. -

Another Harper hidden agenda leak
The Honest Politician replied to hiti's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Keep up the good work Elsie Wayne! The whole point of bringing up the SSM issue the first day of the campaign was apparently to ensure it was forgotten by election day. Thanks to the Pro-Marriage Network the conservatives may still have to explain how they plan on removing Charter rights. Censorship from the Conservatives? I am shocked! Never would have guessed they had something to hide. -

Please post a link to ANYWHERE that has the SEC themselves saying they are reviewing the Income Trust Leak. From what I understand all the SEC has sent out was basically a form letter type response to the NDP allegations. -

As an expression of your anger over this outrageous unfairness, may I persuade you to vote liberal in protest? -
I was honest. Honest! No, some of my views are way right, but most are not. It was probably a pretty accurate test.

Why The Conservatives Should Win
The Honest Politician replied to tml12's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Good Joke! LMAO <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Start exploring the conservative plans. Tell the country about all the holes and hidden costs. The conservative platform itself is the means to bring it down. -
The Truth about the Poll funds.
The Honest Politician replied to The Honest Politician's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That is the problem! The conservatives can be as negative as they want and it is OK, but should a liberal even disagree with them, the Liberal is doing the "scary, scary, scary" BS. What a double standard. Can you imagine how easy it will be for them to justify everything, with that kind of mentality? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's insane, it's the other way around. Where have you been the past three elections? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't support the liberals in the last election. (I was working nights and slept through the one before that. I can't remember if I voted in the one before that. ) The Liberal behaviour in the last election was just as bad. -
Harper-Bush, Bush-Harper?
The Honest Politician replied to The Honest Politician's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can't you see the CPC campaign has been run with the focus on dominating the MSM with the daily announcements, of policy and some liberal bashing. I didn't say it wasn't a good strategy, and I did not say they controlled the MSM. Debating you is a waste. If you aren't attacking my spelling, or me personally, you are twisting my words. Is this more "typical conservative behaviour" or is it simply you? -

Harper-Bush, Bush-Harper?
The Honest Politician replied to The Honest Politician's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Geez, great link there Honest. Do you read anything other than anti-conservative blogs? Conspiracies and Calgarians, oh my! Why should I bother posting anything to show the differences between Bush and Harper when its apparent that others have done so and you simply ignore it? Your an extremist Honest, no matter what information is presented to you, you will continue on with your jihad against Harper and the Cons. I liked your comment about "whatever dribbles out of my mouth", with friends like you the liberals need no enemies. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Of course there are differences between Harper and Bush. But there are too many similarities to be ignored, which is what you appear to be doing. So your argument of me being an "extremist" or on a jihad holds no water. I could say the same about anyone posting negative things against any political party. I just love how you think, finding and exposing the holes in the CPC platform, and making sure people understand who and what they are voting for by voting conservative, is a jihad. When the conservatives do it, it is exposing the liberal corruption, but when Liberals do it, it is an unfair attack on the Conservative party, and it's leader. The double standard that you put forth is the same double standard the conservatives want canadians to ignore. The CPC is far from spotless, but as long as they keep the MSM focussed on the liberals so they can quietly slink into office. I love how you call me a terrorist simply because I am speaking my mind, and I disagree with you. How Bush-like! Freedom of speech is not a value of the conservatives? There are other freedoms the conservatives don't like. What will the Conservatives be accusing those people of? -

You don't remember the hazing? Was it not the 101 Airborne, Patricia Pats or something like that? That is the battalion, or whatever, Harper wants to resurect. Again kyoto is not the only environmental issue. I said IRAQ not Afghanistan. The war on terror is a lot different from a war for oil. Seen this. The guy freaks when he figures out he took a bait car. -

My fixation on the US has to do with the fact this is a thread comparing Harper to Bush. -

I never saw any liberal attack ads on the TV. I saw pieces of paper someone said came from the liberals, but no actual ads. Unlike the very negative ads the conservatives ARE running, which I see twice a day. You seem to have a big problem with them, when the facts are aimed at Harper. Scare images?!?!? How about a serious face coloured red with a negative voice over. You know like the one the conservatives put out about Martin. Hands in my pocket. Hands in my pocket. Hands in my pocket. -

The Honest Politician replied to writing_to_reach_you's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Before you go and vote conservative, do some digging into Harpers past points of view. There are speeches out there that he has made that clearly show his feelings towards this country and the direction he would like to see it go in. The changes you hear him promising now are way left of his true beliefs and are only being promised because he found out last time a platform closer to his true feelings just doesn't sell in Canada. -

Kind of like the Conservatives "warning" Canadians of the vicious "attack ad" campaign that was coming from the liberals and then started their own negative ads? -
Harper-Bush, Bush-Harper?
The Honest Politician replied to The Honest Politician's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The surpluses are there because of the fiscal responsibility of Martin as Finance Minister. He probably has a better idea of what is there to spend than Harper. Did I miss something or is Harper not running in Alberta. This is a far cry from the only environmental issue Bush is being attacked on. The Alaska Oil Drilling proposals are a much better example of the Bush administration's lack of environmental awareness. The Bush administration gave almost 50% taxbreaks on the purchase of large SUV's if the buyer could offer proof that the vehicle would be used for work purposes. The Dentist, Lawyers, Doctors and Executives, who bought the vehicles just had to prove they carried work materials to the office to get the taxbreak. Now since these vehicles are among the worst poluters on the road, and the Bush administrating is promoting the use of such vehicles it does not say much for the Bush administration's view of the environment. Depends on the crime. Thommy Chong did 9 months in jail for selling a bong, in the US. Totally uncalled for. The conservative proposal of a minimum two years in prison for the equivalent of one or two pot plants in the backyard, seems just as rediculous. Violent crime is an area where I would possibly like to see mandatory sentences. My biggest problem is that the offenders have a tendancy become better criminals in jail. The young guys learn new tricks and police tactics, from the older inmates. Connections are made and bonds are formed. It is like a big networking seminar where the topic is crime and how to get away with criminal activities. And we need a bigger military to....what? Fight in more conflicts? I can understand upgrading equipment. But reinstating the 101 airborne, then doubling the size of another base, I feel is a direct result of our "not enough troops" official excuse to stay out of IRAQ. Harper wants to make sure he can jump on the American bandwagon and ride off to save the world. The dollar is high due to the economy and it's strength as you said. But having a govt. who has run surplusses in the budget for several years adds to investor confidence, whose investments in turn, serve to add more strength to the economy, and dollar. A fiscally irresponsible govt. will not generate the same level of investment. After all it is only oppinion isn't it? -
