Regardless, your dream of assessing all humans as to their parental suitability, ain't gonna happen.
-
So a parent is not allowed one mistake? Yer harsh! Yah ok.... let's sterilize all the people until they can prove they will be good parents. Btw, Andrea Yates was a good parent in the beginning, then she drowned all 5 of her kids.

Ack! I'd probably fall down the mountain and break my neck! IMO pot and booze have a time and a place. When I'm in "fitness mode" the last thing I want is to smoke a doobie.

Not unless we live under a facist govt. Really, we already have the technology in contraception. I'm sure there is a birth control "shot" that can last and last -- the current one only lasts 3 months. Of course, never mind how unhealthy it is for a woman to stop her period for years on end.... I tried that birth control shot and felt ill the whole time. And like I said, unless we are living in a totalitarian state, you can't just force people to take a contraceptive. Guess we'll just have to live with "imperfect" parents just as societies have done for millenia. Do you agree with mothers raising their children in jail? I don't believe a child should be subject to such circumstances. He/she is better off being raised temporarily by foster parents or a relative of the incarcerated mother. [facetious rant] YOU are a single parent? Then sheesh, you are also an unfit parent -- just like me! Shame on you for being so selfish as to have a kid by yourself! Would your kid not have been better of being adopted by a "perfect" set of parents? [/facetious rant]

Of course I don't look at it objectively. No one with children would look at it objectively. Regardless... society is not going to "let" people become parents. It's not as though there's a lot to it... just sex. And if we want to regulate who has children and who doesn't then we must force sterilize people, permanently or temporarily; or force them to give up their babies at birth; or force abortion. None of these things will ever come about. As far as the topic is concerned (raising kids in jail) I don't agree. The child should be put in foster care or with a relative until the mother is out of jail.

Absolutely nothing. Your work here is done. Now go away and never come back. Thank you Black Dog

One does not know how one will be as a parent until one becomes a parent. Having children was never my "dream". Having a great career was my dream. During my pregnancy I was extremely unsure if I would be able to love a child (I'd never loved a child before and did not know I was capable of it). When my son was born I could not believe how in love I instantly became. People that knew me 20 years ago say "You have a kid? But you always hated kids!' I still hate other people's kids. Not all kids but brats, I really hate brats. See now would you have considered me "suitable" parent material? After all, during the pregnancy I had doubts that I could love the child. Would you have forced me to give him up in the "chance" that I may not be a good mother based on the fact that I didn't know I could love him? I am an awesome mother by the way! My son is such a great kid, always was and hopefully he always will be. *insert bragging icon here*

So then it is safe to say that you do have some standards of what a fit parent is and you don't consider that just anyone can be a fit parent? Why not just tell us your standards of what a 'fit' parent is? I'm not up to "setting standards" -- I'm obviously an unfit parent -- because I was a single mother back in 1993, I'm not "up to par" according to some (you) who would have gleefully stolen my son from me.

Of course not!

That's my high these days -- going to the gym or biking. Much more fun IMO.

I did not bring my child into this world because I had no reason to live. I said, if I would of had to give him up after I had him I would THEN have no reason to live. OBVIOUSLY you have never loved a human being more than you love yourself. That's what happens when you have kids, they become more important than you. Children should not be raised in prisons (how many are there currently being raised there? Like 50% of society? 10%? 1%? How many?) Children should be raised by their parents. And if two are not available, one will have to do. Children should not be taken from "less than perfect" parents to be given to "perfect parents".

Really? Marc Lepine may have said that too... You said this in your earlier post: Psst, the plural for woman is women. You are the one being insulting. Coming on this board and saying all women are catty bitches who should stay home and raise babies. Of course there are still many women who choose to stay home and raise their children. Some of us choose to have careers AND children. No one gets "left behind". In my world, my son, who is 12 is learning that women and men share in ALL the work. Whether that be earning money, cooking or scrubbing the toilet. It's all the same, it's all part of being in a family. We all pull our own weight in and out of the house. No one is left behind. You blame co-habitation on women? If a man and woman are living together, it's their choice, both of them. Our economy certainly is NOT slowing down, unemployment is at it's lowest rate in 60 years. Men and women will continue to marry one another and they will continue to have children. We are not going to run out of children. LOL. Procreation is a very natural thing for both genders. Our society certainly is NOT falling apart. Well geez Sparky, you sure had me fooled. Psst, the plural for woman is women. Why do you feel we have to pigeonhole people? Each and every human being is different. Each and every human being has different likes and dislikes. You cannot say, well he's a guy so therefor he most definetly likes hockey or she is a woman so she likes sewing. That is ridiculous. Don't you see that? I will define a woman for you... She is a logging truck driver, a sales rep, an intellect, a science teacher, a scientist, a hairdresser, a nurse, a doctor, a judge, a political leader, a mom, a grandma, a sister, a daughter, an aunty, a bitch, a kind-hearted soul, a sex kitten.... she is a human, and soooo much more. A man is a logging truck driver, a sales rep, an intellect, a science teacher, a scientist, a hairdresser, a nurse, a doctor, a judge, a political leader, a dad, a grandpa, a brother, a son, an uncle, an asshole, a kind-hearted soul, a sexy beast.... he is a human, and soooo much more. Sparky, the He-Man-Woman-Haters-Club shut down back in the 1960's.

And I would have committed suicide. Take away my child, you take away my reason to live. This attitude makes me love the fact that there are bleeding heart lefties out there to control the fanatics who would take away children from mothers because they don't have a "husband" or don't have a "job" at the moment. Un be lieve able. Much better would be forced abortion. You never get to know the child, the child is never born, therefore will never miss it's mother, will never have to deal with going through spankings as a toddler, never have to go through peer pressure, will never have to be "unloved" by a non-parent. As I succeeded, so do the vast majority of all others. The woman I know who spent 10 years in jail while her son was raised by her sister. She is a foster parent. She looks after "difficult" children and helps their mother's cope. Guess she learned her coping skills in prison. LOL She was in there, btw, because she murdered three men. They gang raped her, so she hunted them down one by one and murdered them. Yet there she is, looking after children! Boy our government sure is good at finding people to look after the children! And yes, my Grand Am is certainly as important in my life as my 12 year old. Driving is a priveledge. Procreating is natural, lol you don't even need lessons, just think of the movie "Blue Lagoon". If a family wants to adopt, they should have to choose from the children available, too bad if they are not babies. We should not steal children from "imperfect" parents to give them to adoptive parents who may or may not end up being good parents. Yes, and foster parents are regulated by the government to make sure they meet minimum requirements such as the cage for the child should be no smaller that 2'x4'....

Yound girl testifies about US attack

And, if they don't do their job then our children may be reaping the Conservative Wahhabist whirlwind. This is scientific analysis from yourself, a qualified individual or just another immature ranting from a leftist who doesn't have a clue of what is going on so they just jump aboard the socialist bandwagon, with all the propaganda fthat it carries with it ad nausium? The twisted hatred on the face of anti war people is far more phsycotic than any facial expression Bush ever put on. Here, an example of the idocy at work. Read somewhere some person actually said th Bush reminds him of Charles Manson. Now, on what basis would they figure that a guy who is elected President should be compared to another homless drifter who slices people up for no apparent reason? Only in the minds of morons. KK, no crap did not insult YOU, she insulted GW Bush. I agree with her, if not for politics, GW Bush would have probably been a serial killer (he is already, but he can hide behind his country as reason for being so) Why would you then insult her -- calling her a moron? Isn't it against the forum rules to insult the poster? Unless of course, like many Bush followers, you believe you are so close to him that you feel personally insulted? -
And on that day, pigs will fly.

Back in the late 80's, coke was king. Everybody was doing it. Even those who had never smoked pot in their lives. I did it too. I remember, I'd need a doobie to "come down" from the cocaine but my buddies who didn't smoke pot just kept on a paryin' into the next day. At least I got some sleep and ate some food (as pot makes one sleepy and hungry)... they just kept going and going with no sleep and no nutrition. I am so glad the 80's are over and I came through them unscathed These days I'll smoke a joint once in a while, but you'll never see me touch cocaine ever again. One of those buddies got hooked on it and lost his business. Practically lost his life. Know what's really funny? He moved to Florida in 1995 and became an American citizen and is now a staunch Republican.

Or force the woman to have an abortion. Too many babies are waiting for families already. That's a real slippery slope -- who would determine the minimum requirements? What do we do with the people that don't meet the requirements? Forced temporary sterilization? Forced abortion? Would I, who found myself a single mother with no job at age 28, have met someone's "minimum requirements"? Perhaps not, perhaps my son would've been stolen from me and raised in a lovely household where he was starved to death (as the damn gov't is so "comprehensive" when finding alternative parents for children -- I am referring to the 6 yo that was starved to death by his grandparents) Once again, who is going to adopt all these babies? There are already too many babies and older children waiting for families to adopt them. I don't agree with raising babies in jail, but I don't pretend to know all the answers either.

Congratulations Canuck E Stan. Raising teenagers is the most difficult part of being a parent and you are doing all the right things. We have a 12 year old and my biggest concern is that we "lose him" to his peers in the next year or so. We are raising him much the way you are raising your children, except for the siblings part - he's an only child. Not spoiled though! He earns money doing a paperroute and we do pay him for extra chores around the home. Not the daily stuff like dishes and making the bed, those are just part of life. He also joined Air Cadets last year and is really enjoying it. We have dinner together every evening and spend tons of time discussing his schoolwork, Cadets, his hope and dreams, etc. The most important thing parents can do is listen, set guidelines and rules and, above all, love the child and each other - like you said

Ok We've been around and around this topic and we know that you hate women. There is counselling for this type of anger. You really should go talk to your college guidance counsellor (probably a woman, but you can request a man). I'm beginning to worry that you will go postal on your female college mates. For that reason, I hope this website is being monitored by CSIS and I hope they come and investigate your anger towards women -- it's not only unhealthy, it's downright dangerous.

Of course it is, but so what? What did you expect in a election campaign? In my view the plan actually goes against conservative philosophy, but tactically it was a smart move during the campaign. That and the GST cut were probably what got him his minority government. That's too funny! You mean without these 2 financial incentives people would have voted for the "scandalous" Liberals? Harper needs to do what Canadians actually want, not what he thinks they want (he's wayyy off base when it comes to the average Canadian IMO) Poll on CTV News the other evening said 70% of people don't agree with the $100 payment. Listen to us Mr. Harper, we don't want your lousy hundred bucks! Another poll asked "are you waiting for the gst cut before making large purchases?" Again the result was 70% saying no, not waiting as 1% does not make that big a difference. Why not give the $100 per month (x the number of families with small children) to our military? A much better use of the money IMO.
-
Indeed! And what about the family where the husband earns a 100 grand a year and wife stays home to look after the children? What is the wife doing with the money? What is she up to? Very questionable IMO. This sickens me more than the family on welfare recieving it. I'm mad as hell at over this -- it was nothing but a blatant vote grab.

Women are better at climbing... our lower centre of gravity makes it easier to balance... Uh, Margaret Thather, Golda Meir... I'm on my way to work, so no time to think of more.... So brute force is how the society is run? Hmmm.... So that little guy who is smaller than me -- I can control him with my brute force? Not all "working" women are bitter, not all "working" women are single. Many have husbands who support them in their careers. I am happily on my way to work... By the way.... some paydays I have a bigger cheque than my man! Ha Ha! Satisified with who we are? Can you please tell pierce -- who are we? Are we equal members of society? Are we equal partners in relationships? Are we simply breeders? Are we toys for men's consumption? Pray tell!
