  1. Isn't census Canada still doing the actual data collection? Thought it was just the software that the U.S. company is providing ?? Whats the problem with that if its cheaper for the taxpayers?
  2. Sure as long as freedom of expression does not allow others to demand my death cos they don't like what they say, or issue fatwas on someone cos they don't like what they wrote. It swings both ways. I agree that multicult is not a glue holding the country together, it separates people.
  3. The yanks should be worried about the Canadian border its a pretty porous one. Nothing wrong with requiring passports to cross the border.
  4. Huh ! run that by me again. Producers a bit, but CEO's ? Peer pressure promoted by the money moguls? Money moguls promote peer pressure?? Oh right its those durned capitalists again forgot that one. Parents do have control over the kids, they can control what they watch at home they can teach moral values at home. Sure they cannot control everything but a decent grounding at home sure helps. Don't blame it all on those nasty capitalists again. Sounds like sour grapes to me, aren't you the one on 50plus who doesn't think retirees with a bit more than you should go south in the winter?
  5. I'm surprised. I worked my buns off during the election and now they do this? I understand about the representation thing, but dammit - but perception wise, its a bad move .
  6. Havn't red the whole thing yet, in a nutshell how does this compare to Bill C250 could Canada learn from this?
  7. Whats the point of answering, its a no win situation, there are those for and those against. Each has their own point of view. I'm pro-choice but not pro-abortion, its between a woman and her conscience. Mindyou, I draw the line at late terms.
  8. Maybe if the Liberal Party of Canada simply cut a cheque to the Government of Canada repaying the millions. Wouldn't that be the honourable thing to do? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly ! Martin's losing it boy, his rants and wrapping himself in the flag isn't fooling most people. I hear the latest poll says his MP seat is in jeapordy. Get power at all costs; keep power at all Paul Martin translated this recently into embarrassing outbursts of anti-Americanism. A little bit of American bashing to boost his chance of holding onto power. Martin just played shamelessly to Canada’s anti-American crowd - and so the beat goes on.
  9. I do not disagree with that, but what do you care what other people do with their own cash. If they want to buy additional insurance, let them, none of your concern really.
  10. You don't understand my monicker at all so get it right before you start with ad hominems. Southern Comfort is a cocktail, my favourite drink, nothing to do with the U.S. or it politics. What is really sad is how some dippers can be so steeped in their own fantasy that they have to put down and sneer at everyone who doesn't agree with their own claptrap. Maybe some facts and enlightenment is needed at your end.
  11. Don't mind her... ...she has a very odd fixation with the current leader of the Conservatives. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hiti is actually a social conservative, she just hates Harper cos he beat out old Stocky. Nothing like having hissy fits years after the event.
  12. They do, not all of them....
  13. Got this from another site, so have copied it here, as its pertinent. After some initial gains early in the campaign, the Liberals have given them back this week, with the Conservatives closing the gap and the NDP edging down. The current projection/regional support levels are as follows (based on a moving average of 5 polls from Dec 10-16): NATIONAL LPC 36.2% - 120 SEATS CPC 30.4% - 102 NDP 15.6% - 23 BQ 12.8% - 63 GPC 5.0% - 0 ONTARIO LPC 43.0% - 63 SEATS CPC 34.0% - 34 NDP 16.4% - 9 GPC 6.0% - 0 QUEBEC BQ 54.5% - 63 SEATS LPC 26.8% - 12 CPC 8.2% - 0 NDP 7.8% - 0 GPC 2.8% - 0 more here: http://election.democraticSPACE.com http://democraticSPACE.com/blog/category/c...ction-forecast/ Also got this in an email. Liberal outlook grim in Quebec: leaked memo Last Updated Thu, 15 Dec 2005 11:53:24 EST CBC News The Quebec wing of the federal Liberal party believes it could lose a lot of ground in the province, including three current cabinet ministers who could lose their seats, according to an internal party memo accidentally leaked on Wednesday. The party accidentally e-mailed the memo to reporters on Wednesday, inadvertently sending what was meant to be confidential information to scores of Blackberry wireless devices. The memo paints a grim picture for the Liberals in the province. The party believes at this point that it can only count on winning 10 ridings. Another 20, the memo suggests, could go to either the Liberals or the Bloc Québécois. Among the ridings the memo suggests could go either way, 11 are currently held by Liberals, and those include the seats of cabinet ministers Liza Frulla, Pierre Pettigrew and Jean Lapierre. By suggesting they are only in competition for a maximum of 30 seats, the Liberals are apparently writing off 45 of the province's 75. The Bloc won 54 of those seats in 2004. The Liberal memo suggests the party thinks the sovereigntist party could win as many as 65 – a devastating prospect for an election the Liberals have framed in the province as a referendum on national unity.
  14. Kimmy said: Norman, you continue to peddle the line that the bill was about gay bashing. Why is that? Are you being intentionally dishonest, or do you honestly not know any better? Now, we know that no one on the internet would ever beintentionally dishonest don't we.
  15. Of course they are burying it, they don't want the truth out there at all.
  16. The CPC proposals are designed to help the poor, to stimulate the economy and create more jobs. There are 7 million or so people who little or no taxes, those people will benefit the the GST cut. Funny, the GST was so hated, now all of a sudden its a good tax and we should keep it. Just as Margaret Thatcher once excoriated the low state of Britain enfeebled by socialism and gutless government at the same time as she passionately loved her country, so conservative Canadians cherish the country we could be, while strongly condemning the hypocritical arrogance of Liberal Canada. It is indeed a sad state of affairs when we are told that the only Canadian values are liberal ideology and liberal values. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good post, Harper's policy and proposals will sure benefit Canada and improve the economy. The best form of welfare is a job ! Socialism has been shown to be a failure; by its very nature, it is an inherently tyrannical ideology that uses force or the threat of force to take from those who produce and redistribute to those who don't (after the ruling elites take their cut). Under socialism, all power rests in the hands of the almighty State.
  17. Martin is starting to sound frenetic or frantic, I'm guessing most people can see through his hypobole. Good strategy on Harper's part to let Duceppe and Layton hammer on Martin while he gets is points and policy across. I think he's finally starting to be heard and understood that he is moderate and not the boogabooga he's painted by the CBC and others.
  18. Good points, I agree with you on this.
  19. Well, I suppose that kind of response indicates you are not middle class, but some sort of rich guy elitist out of touch with ordinary Canadians. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, doubt my husband would know the price of jug or bag of milk either. Guess he's just outof touch with ordinary Canucks too. Harper is middleclass, upper middle class, sure not rich.
  20. Whats that supposed to mean, oh right just drive by slander and underhanded innuendo.
  21. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks Shoop.
  22. According to Prime Minister Paul Martin, institutional-style child care is the only option "agreed to by the vast majority of people who are knowledgeable." Okay, I might be in the minority wanting to stay home and lookafter my kids but really am I really in the minority in terms of knowledge concerning what is best for my children? I would not trust Mr. Martin to babysit any of my children for 10 minutes. And I trust him even less to make any good decisions concerning their welfare.
  23. Yup, a handgun makes perfect sense. After all, all the gun crime in Toronto is committed by legally registered handguns, right? Back in the dark ages; pre Trudeau and Marc LaLonde that is; we had a section in the Criminal Code that effectively dealt with hand guns and for that matter any crime where an offensive weapon was used. It made it mandatory for the courts to sentence a person to strokes of the paddle along with any other sentence imposed for any crime where an offensive weapon was used. There was also provisions to cover the assault on a prison guard by inmates. In the latter case the warden was a Judge of the Magistrate's court by his appointment and he was able to sentence inmates for infractions of the rules; including eliminating time off for good behavious or whatever it is called now (mandatory parole or whatever). When we did away with capital punishment the overnment of the day; Yeah the Liberals; quietly included corporal punishment into the same package. Up until Trudeau's glorious mind boggling amendments to good law; violent offenses involving in particular hand guns were very uncommon. Hand guns were not out there as much; lots of people owned them and used them on ranges etc. But hardly ever were they used to commit any offenses. Why you ask; people knew damn well what was in store for them if they were caught. About the only time you heard of weapons like hand guns being used were during bank robberies; never ever a corner grocery store etc. There had to be big bucks involved before anyone would take the risk. Even a robber with a knife was dealt with by strokes of the paddle. Most people in the current generation are unaware that corporal punishment was used effectively in that era. They are now running out of options; the slap on the wrist and wisdom talking isn't working as well as it was spelled out by all the 'social progressives'. Someone will ultimately have to have the guts to re-instate corporal punishment for 'robbery with violence' as it was termed back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth; then maybe we can bring this back under control. Yup, I suppose someone will come up and tell us that that it is "cruel and unusual punishment". It would be interesting to hear what those people who are directly affected by drive by shootings and gang killings have to say.
  24. I read about that on ProudtobeCanadian.ca the CBC should be out of the news business alltogether, unless it can be neutral with its reporting. Excellent post by the way.
  25. Who believes Unions have any credibility these days with old Buzz saw angling for a senate seat eh!
