  1. Repeat of the above. Sorry.
  2. It is exactly as unethical (or ethical) no matter whom you place in position A or B. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There was no need to put that "(or ethical)" in there, was there? Freudian slip? I think so. Theloniusfleabag wouldn't give John back his fiver any more than I would!
  3. That is simply false. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed, August1991. A large segment of our population my ass!
  4. I was going to include the URL with my excerpt from Mr. Krauthammer's article but I couldn't dig him up in the National Post online. It pissed me off so I finally went to my Washington Post where he put it out four days earlier. Here it is .... ENJOY. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...5101301783.html PS - Charles Krauthammer IS the greatest and deserves to win the Beautiful Minds competition! And this article deserves a thread of it's own! Don't you think? The best article of 2005, IMO.
  5. My buddy Dave. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dave who?
  6. David Suzuki, eh? What is it? A motorcycle?
  7. Tonny Keller beat you to it, profiling him in the National Post today. I still cannot believe that Don Cherry made it into this "Beautiful Minds" competition. Upon reading an article by Charles Krauthammer in my NP today, I'm now itching to put all my money on him if he qualifies and makes it in. Here's an excerpt from that cheery little column that he wrote: "While official Washington was consumed with political matters last week, relatively unnoticed was perhaps the most momentous event of our lifetime - what's left of it, as I shall explain. It was announced that American scientists have just created a living, killing copy of the 1918 "Spanish" flu. This is big. Very big. """...........................""" One batch of 1918 flu has the capacity for mass destruction that no Bond villain could ever dream of. Why try to steal loose nukes in Russia? A nuke can only destroy a city. The flu virus, properly evolved, is potentially a destroyer of civilizations. We might have just given it to our enemies. Have a nice day." He's the greatest!
  8. How unethical would it be if John D. Rockefeller made that mistake and I chose to keep that fin?
  9. 20m? That's like 40 years ago. And here I thought I was the only old fart here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It wasn't that long ago. Well, okay, it was. But I don't consider being in your forties as being an old fart! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From long life experience I happen to know that adult males generally shy away from referring to their prepubescent years. So when an adult male says "when I was younger" I think fifteen plus. This puts you at fifty plus plus in my books.
  10. 20m? That's like 40 years ago. And here I thought I was the only old fart here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, Yodeler I hope Argus simply ignore your flare of wisdom, plus your myrid conclusion <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you have something to say I suggest you try and develop sufficient maturity to put it in english rather than acting like a smarmy idiot.
  11. After what he did to fruit flies? I don't think so. Now if you said David Frum you'd have a good bet. I wonder if he qualifies?
  12. It's a better bet than Gretzky, that's for sure! Sparhawk seems to have brawn and brains a little mixed up.
  13. Any MLWeb's poster has a better chance of winning than Gretzky, IMO. Not being here long enough to pick one I put all of the handles I could remember into a paper beg and then picked one. PocketRocket came up. You seem like a veteren here, theloniusfleabag, who do you think most deserves to be picked?
  14. 20m? That's like 40 years ago. And here I thought I was the only old fart here.
  15. Which Trudeau? If you mean Joseph Philippe Pierre Yves Elliott Trudeau, he is dead and thus doesn't qualify. Pity! He would give Preston Manning a run for his money. The same goes for your pick, Marshal McLuhan. Dead as a doornail, thus doesn't qualify. Wanna bet John against my Presto?
  16. "The National Post is conducting a companion search to find Canada's most important public intellectual. Our Beautiful Minds competition defines a public intellectual as someone who has shown distinction in his or her own field, and can communicate ideas and influence debate outside of it. All candidates must be living, have a strong connection to Canada, and be active in public life. Post employees and columnists are ineligible. Selected candidates will be championed by Post contributors, with one profiled daily. As profiles are published, they will appear on the contest site, www. nationalpost.com/beautifulminds. In early November, the site will be open for voting, and readers will be invited to pick their favourite public intellectual. Write-in candidates will be welcomed." http://www.canada.com/national/nationalpos...uals/index.html So far only Barbara Kay and Robert Fulford have written in their candidates, Mark Steyn and Margaret MacMillan respectively. My write-in candidate will be Preston Manning. (my betting windows are open!) Who's your pick??
  17. 3)Airborne emissions are only one part of the report. For instance, it also reports releases into water. In this case, the release of this particular set of chemicals into surface water decreased in Canada by almost 50 per cent but increased in the US by 16 per cent. So, while the data may be correct, it's limited and does not speak to the bigger picture. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm sure Canadian fish will be glad to hear that.
  18. Tell us more about this phenomena, Argus. Thanks in advance! ROTFPIMPALMFAO <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you have something to say I suggest you try and develop sufficient maturity to put it in writing rather than acting like a smarmy idiot. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know what you want. You want me to put my Shakespearen talents to work in explaining why no human being would opt for learning French in a primarily English speaking continent unless thay had some head start in that language, so you can submit it to some small time newspaper ... making an extra handsome profit in the process. I'm game, but only if we split it that extra profit 50/50!
  19. Well, YOUR proposal of bringing in immigrants to replace you in doing all the scut work sure doesn't sound like satire. Tsk tsk tsk! Oscar Wilde said it best: "Human slavery is wrong, insecure, and demoralizing. On mechanical slavery, on slavery of the machine, the future of the world depends."
  20. I don't give a damn! Benedict XVI loves the Jews, and that's good enough for me. Give me ONE good reason why the Jews should not be loved and I'll give you twenty why they should. Is it a deal?
  21. Tell us more about this phenomena, Argus. Thanks in advance! ROTFPIMPALMFAO
  22. It sure won't! The only strategy that WILL win the majority for either party this time around is a strategy of borrowing from JFK's quote of the century .......... "Ask not what America can do for you, ask what you can do for America!" And that's who I'M going to bet on and vote for!
  23. They worried about the "Brain Drain". And having no people left. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah ... we were a smart bunch.
  24. They worried about the "Brain Drain". What IS strange is that Canada's Liberals don't.
