  1. She won.
  2. That was early in a BC riding...I doubt it I was so excited for a minute. God, I'd love them to get a seat. We NEED them to get a seat. Imagine the next leaders debate with one of Jimmy's boys (or girls) there to show the NDP and Libs what environmental responsibility is. Go Green! CBC just announced the Greens are finished in that riding...it will go CPC likely.
  3. She was leading...but it was close. Any news???
  4. That was early in a BC riding...I doubt it
  5. Saw that too... If that Bloc Chinese candidate wins, it REALLY would be the upset of the night (*not likely yet...)
  6. CBC just said the same.
  7. I have CBC on now but...what are the laws? Am I allowed to post what I am seeing here??? OK at 10PM (in one minute) I can...

  9. Apparently the Liberals don't know the old saying: "Fool me once..."
  10. Hey Kimmy, I did not mean to imply they "joined forces" with the CPC but rather that they are helping them in this election. Overall, I think they are waiting for a new leader and then I'll be happy to see them go back to their old party.
  11. That and Chretien using his Quebec team to get the vote out for the Conservatives. It was in the paper today. Former Chretien Liberals are now working for the Quebec Conservative wing. I mean, don't get me wrong. I don't care what he does as long as it helps the CPC. But it does show you what an odious jerk he is. Why on earth would the Conservatives want anything to do with the man responsible for Adscam. I hope they would have nothing to do with that scumbag. They say they are "innocent." Oh well, they may not know it but by helping the CPC at least they are cleaning up government. I do hope they put that jerk Chretien in jail though.
  12. Carolyn and Tucker have something in common that most people seem unable to see. Both have driven many undecided voters to the opposite side. They are both act so crazy that they cannot be real. It is just entertainment. And some humour for their equally bigoted, racist, and hateful bases.
  13. This is the problem with religion defining any rights for the rest of us. What other rules do you want to set? Just because you believe it doesn't mean you can impose it on everyone else. I don't accept your religion, and I don't want it making rules for me to follow. Religion has to be seperate from the state, and the state has to value each person equally. Religion has to be separate from the state, eh? I back your argument. And that is why the state shouldn't define marriage.
  14. Yes it can, otherwise we wouldn't be having this discussion. You can call it whatever you want: fact is, from a legal standpoint, civil marriages are equal in standing to religious unions. I agree this Canadian state thinks it can. I don't know who gave it the right to think it can. I can call it what I want? Good. I will call it what the world called it for Earth's 4.5 billion year existance.
  15. Yeah, well, in Christ's time, wives were considered property of the husband, but I don't hear much complaining about the government "redefining" marriage as a union of equals. Um...putting forward a hypothetical is not proof that teh government is interfering with religion. For the billionth time, the same legislation which legalizes same sex unions also protects churches from having to perform marriages that are against their beliefs (which is also protected under the Charter). I don't understand why you people can't get your heads around that. I got my head around it BlackDog. But you and other leftists are arguing that the state can marry people. NO IT CAN'T. The state cannot (and should not) even define marriage. You can get married in a secular place and call it "marriage" but as far as I am confirmed it is a "union registered by the state" AKA civil union.
  16. You are absolutely right YankAbroad. You know we just had another mad cow crisis in this country? How long do you think the US border stays open? As if we needed another reason to get the anti-American Liberal Party out of power.
  17. Thank god and amen another person agrees with me on this oppinion. I agree with you too politika.
  18. I doubt you see the contradiction here, so I'll spell it out. On the one hand , you say you have no problem with what people do privately, but oppose anyone imposing their values on you. Yet you have no qualms about imposing your values on others (through the appointment of right-wing activist judges). Double standard much? I'm also curious about how gay marriage is being imposed on you; how does it effect you at all? BlackDog, I have no idea what people do privately, that is true. What I said was a double-standard. You are right BlackDog. But surely you can understand my point: your leftist judges were clearly appointed by the party you support (supposedly Liberal, NDP, Green, etc.) Gay marriage is not being imposed on me. It is being imposed on my society. You obviously do not believe marriage has much value and that the state can change the definition at will, clearly in opposition to the majority of religious people. It affects me because it is a clear violation of my religion (Catholic). I have gay friends. I have gone to gay weddings. My gay friends respect my decision (and many of them agree with it). I cannot support it BD because it is not how my religion defines marriage and because for me marriage is defined by how my religion defines it. I hope you will understand respect my decision.

  20. Well, by the same token, voting was never menat for women, property ownership was neve rmeant for any non white males etc. etc. Things change. I heard a study on local radio last night that said some of what you're saying, except with polygamy. "Why not?" The woman was saying. "Times change. Studies suggest it would be good to legalize it." I respect the rights of all people who live in this country but really? I hope Harper appoints right-leaning, pro-family, pro-community judges instead of these far left neo-communist activist judges who are re-writing every wholesome law we ever had in this country. If you're gay and have 30 boyfriends that is fine with me. Just don't ask me to accept imposing your values (or lack thereof) on me.
  21. No, but it seems Toronto is becoming Detroit. Fair response.
  22. BlackDog, "Why should non religious people be denied the right to marry?" If you believe marriage is a religious institution, then that is why.
  23. You know, there was always something about Martin that made me... I just realized I have got to go soon (saved by the time)...really funny link kimmy...
  24. Sage, "Why not have marriage being only the recognition of a relationship by a church. Everyone else (homos and heteros alike) who want their relationship recognized by the state have civil unions." That is what I have been arguing for years...
  25. The Liberals have been successful for so long because we are a country that is defined by what we are not (Americans) rather than what we are. I remember taking a Canadian Cultures class in school years ago. We were asked to draw maps of Canada that defined what this country was to each student (as opposed to just drawing the provinces, etc.) Most of the maps were just silly drawings of the prairies with farmers and Quebec with maple syrup, etc. But one student drew a map of Canada all in red with devil's horns on top and bleeding into the U.S. The image stuck with me for years...we are not a country defined by a certain culture. Instead, all we say wherever we are in this country is that "We are not Americans." In recent years, the Liberals played this message over and over and over and we bought it. "Americans don't like us," etc. and other crap. I spent time living in the States and realized that Americans don't dislike Canadians, they are just frustrated (and many times) quite ignorant of this country. And the Liberals like it like that. Well I don't. Anytime someone says, "We are respected around the world." I say, "No we are not." The Liberal Party has reduced us to such second-tier status that other countries do not know what to think of us. They created our social programs then they cut them. They created our myths and let us face the harsh reality of their falsity. So why am I voting Conservative? Because Canada deserves to be strong again. We should work with the Americans who don't hate us, but rather want a closer partnership with us. And most of all, we need a government that won't lie to us because they want power and a legacy. Is the Liberal Party finished? I doubt it, but I would like to keep their MPs out of 24 Sussex for years to come...
