  1. I love it down there...haven't been there in awhile though. People are really nice and I met lots of people who do business in Canada even in Montreal. Nice place...I REALLY liked the Outer Banks even though I haven't done tidal study in years.
  2. SO you live in America right? because if you dont you better spend more than 50 percent of you time there to make a bold statment like that. Probably a left-wing pseudo-intellectual from Toronto. I should add when my friend was in Toronto he asked an Indian woman what time it was and she was like "you are not in my cultural community" and walked away. Is everyone so racist in Toronto?
  3. Typical of the left, you seem to think Harper would take the same path the openly anti-American Liberal Party did and tell the Americans to screw off. Instead, I am sure he will foster an open debate.
  4. HAHAHA, i dunno what it is about you canucks, but i havent met an American yet who didnt love it when a canuck through out the aboot or the "eh". I wouldnt worry about it so much, down here in dixie we have words like aint and yonder that make no sense at all. They are just a part of the culture. What state do you live in? North Carolina. This is going to sound funny but I really like North Carolina...when I was a kid I used to be involved in tidal study and we'd go to the Maritimes in Canada and the Outer Banks down there...North Carolina State Police ticketed me for speeding last time I was there...I lied and said I forgot the mileage signs weren't in kilos...

What state do you live in? *I'm asking because I thought you said you lived in Michigan but I never heard people associate dixie with Michigan.

  7. 2 I believe...the Liberal leadership campaign was in 1990, Martin got elected in 1988.
  8. Consenting adults. Then why is the age of consent being lobbied by the Gay Group to be lowered? And wasn't Svend Robinson one of the advocates for lowering the age of consent? You know what I think about the age of consent? I think we shouldn't have it. Some kids are ready for sex at 12 or 13. But with kids their own age...I wouldn't want a 40 year old having sex with a 12 year old. I would support instead having a law where no one over 25 should have sex with anyone under 16.
  9. Gore's family warned him to watch out for Clinton. Clinton was interested in one person from day one: himself. Gore suffered from Kim Campbell syndrome.
  10. But we should also note that there are different "spoon qualities." I think Martin worked for what he had more than Stronach, for example.
  11. BlackDog, I never thought I would say this to you BlackDog but that's a good point. I may actually rethink my position.
  12. This means there is no doubt he is gonna run.
  13. Gore keeps on getting more loco. The guy even gives speeches for the radical Moveon.org (of Bush=Hiltler infamy) group. It is scary to think of the downfall of the US (it surely would have happened), if Gore had been able to win his own state in 2000 and win the Presidency. Gore thinks he invented the Internet. Need I say more? He still *maintains* that position today...
  14. The Can West Edmonton Journal is definitely left leaning. I only read the Grope and Flail occasionally, since the paper - despite its 'Canadas newspaper' claim, is so Toronto-centric. Which means : frequently boring, just like Toronto itself.. Could be...never read it. Do the Globe and Mails in Edmonton have Toronto advertisements in them??? because the ones in Montreal do.
  15. A "whore" is someone who sells themselves out for money...it is not exclusively an anti-women term, but I don't see men whoring around Montreal's red-light district
  16. I am not sexually attracted to her Shoop... She is one of those people who could do a job on you though (no pun intended there... )

I bet you he is calling Osama on the phone now to take him up on the "truce" he offered, something the far left in the States and here in Canada are just begging the Dems to do.
  18. I can't beleive you trotted out the old "some of my best friends are <insert minority here>." I have a big problem with it for several reasons. Number one: it's an American expression, popularized by American leaders with clear American conotations. Find your own slogan, dude. Number two: Canada is a de facto secular state and I don't think its appropriate for Harper to push a particular religios P.O.V, especially now that he's PM (and if you think that's biased towards Christianity, ask yourself how you'd feel if Harper was asking for the blessing of Alah, or Vishnu or some other such deity.) Number three: I think it's a dogwhistle: a code to Canada's conservative religious right saying, basically, "I hear you, I am one of you." And, as a firm believer in secular democratic values, that scares the crap out of me. BlackDog, Your jargon gets more ridiculous as days go by. "God Bless Canada" is not a uniquely Christian expression. Jews say "God" too as one example. It is also not a uniquely American expression either. As is typical of the far left you associate that with Harper trying to tie up his conservative base and "Christianize" Canada. It is just silliness.
  19. She isn't bad looking I'll tell you that... CBC is extremely left-wing and anti-American. I will never forget when they had a whole show about how Canadians are different from Americans because Americans don't know what date squares are. (obviously paid for by our tax dollars... ) I went down to Plattsburgh and there they are, selling date squares... Plattsburgh...threatening Canadian sovereignty!!!
  20. I didn't realize how addicted to this forum I have become... I couldn't log in all day yesterday and had trouble sleeping last night (OK that is a bit of an exaggeration). But seriously, what did happen???
  21. One of the big issues I have, and I believe that it undermines federalism, is that Quebec has its own laws regarding immigration, multiculturalism, etc. that other provinces don't
  22. The National Post is to the right of the Globe and Mail, but that doesn't take much. Socially at least, the Globe and Mail has been moving more and more to the left every year. The Globe is surely more libertarian than the National Post, which is more traditional conservative.
  23. Good question Duke. Pending his termination, I would tell you up until this point I would tell you he stood up to some Republican congressmen who fallaciously accused Canada of being a place where the 9/11 hijackers came from. He also tried to improve Canada's image in the States. He wasn't the best ambassador, but given the time constraints and the hateful remarks by the Liberal Party and their MPs I think he did the best he could.
  24. Although I am generally pro-choice, upon an examination of the American political scene I think overturning Roe v. Wade may be the best thing the U.S. Supreme Court ever does for the Democratic Party. For years now, the Democrats have been seen as the defenders of abortion rights in the U.S., while the Republicans have promised to restrict abortion rights. The issue has seemingly become so partisan in the states that Blue State Republicans must affirm their commitment to abortion rights and Red State Democrats must be pro-life to even be elected at the local or state level. But where the issue has hurt the Democrats the most is at federal election time. It helps tie up their base in New York and California and other big blue states, but it hurts their base in Middle America and makes elections in Florida and Wisconsim must closer than they might otherwise be. Up until 2000, the Democrats could hide their abortion views in the South (to an extent) by highlighting their "common man" platform that is pro-worker's rights, etc. But since then Karl Rove has been quite successful at highlighting the Republicans as the party of "morality" and family values. And emphasizing Christian rights have also been key for the Rove-Bush GOP advising team. I think making Roe v. Wade a state's rights issue again would be the best thing for the Democratic Party. While they would never admit it, it would seriously help them revive their base in the red states...especially at federal election time.
  25. I meant the Big Two are the big winners under the status quo. OK sorry...you're right (did I say BlackDog was right??? )
