The real threat to the nation is Trump, as he attacks the rule of law, and your systems and institutions, in order to gain more power for himself. What Trump did was stage a massive spectacle for the viewing pleasure of his base. It's too bad that adherence to the law was lost as collateral damage. I am supporting the rule of law. A true patriot would respect the rule of law.

The judge ordered the plane turned around. Trump openly defied the order, thus breaking the law. There is something called "checks and balances". The judicial branch is a check on power grabs by the president. The president was acting outside of his powers when he deported all those people for no other reason than his say-so that "they are bad people." A president should not have that power. It is dictatorial. If the deportees had been given due process, we would have found out that some were not gang members at all. When the president overpowers the law, that is dictatorial.

Well, if Trump said it, it must be true. /s So, you accept him breaking the law? You accept him ignoring a judge's order? You gladly give him dictatorial powers? These deportees were not given due process. You can be sure some of them were not gang members at all.

For a while there, I thought I would vote for Poilievre. We needed some sanity following Trudeau. But then I heard Poilievre railing against the "Woke." Imported cultural war. It stuck me as a manipulative action, just like Trump uses "the Woke" to manipulate his base. Creating an enemy where none exists. I don't want an elected leader to manipulate me into outrage. Just govern with wisdom and fairness. I like what I see with Carney.

You need to understand that whatever Trump says about why he wants tariffs is all lies. Fentanyl is not pouring over the border from Canada, Canada has never treated the USA badly, trade is fair between our two nations. But he's got it in his head that his legacy will be golden if he annexes Canada. He's quite serious about it and will cause untold economic pain in this country to achieve his nefarious goal. He's gone mad with power. And yes, he has totally hoodwinked his supporters. In Trump's mind, tariffs represent income for the federal government. But where do you think this income is going to come from? From the American working class, despite Trump's false claims that it will be paid by foreigners. This is Trump's strategy: "Tax my voters, enrich my donors."

Trump hasn't got a chance in hell of voiding the pardons. But they give him something outrageous to say. That's what he is about, saying outrageous things to distract from the most pressing concerns about him. He is throwing this out there as a distraction from his failed economic policy. Get everyone talking about this so they forget what an abysmal failure he has been on what he promised the American people.

You have provided no counterpoints to anything I said but you have shown that you belong to the category who does not know what they do not know. You need to broaden your knowledge base to look at Trump's presidency in the context of history and human societies and then you might get a clue. I made no accusations. I made valid observations. But there is none so blind as those who will not see. Better minds than yours see the parallels between Hitler's rise and Trump's capture of his base. And now he is going after the DoJ to make it his weapon. My word was apt. We live in perilous times.

I clearly explained the parallel, which apparently went over your head. Read it again. I'll add to that - Hitler and Trump both have the same megalomanic leadership style - both have a messianic complex - they manipulate their base with lies that the entire country is "broken" and at risk of. being overrun with "vermin" and in the words of both Hitler and Trump "I alone can fix it." When Trump says "He who saves his Country violates no law." he is echoing Hitler. The "Führerprinzip" (Leader Principle) was the basis of executive authority in Nazi Germany, emphasizing a single, supreme leader (the Führer) whose word was law, with all subordinates expected to obey unquestioningly. Trump sees himself in the same way Hitler did - as "the genius, the man" who alone held the key to the country's destiny.

That's not how the founding fathers saw it. Thomas Jefferson, in his letter to the Danbury Baptists reiterates that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.. Separation of Church & State History The US Constitution derives its power "from the people" - not from God. God is never mentioned in it. I'll add to that the many Magat "Christians" are doing nothing but pissing on Christ.
