  1. Gross. You've embraced Q-anon style insanity, no better than the loons who shared wild theories about Paul Pelosi after he was attacked. This used to be a differentiator between the two parties. You're farking it up.
  2. That's pretty shortsighted. He certainly antagonized "the left," but the people he really hurt are his most devout followers, who will find themselves increasingly ostracized and marginalized and even more voiceless and than before. When there's nothing left to trust except Trump, and Trump isn't in a position of power, they are left with nothing. -- The rest of the country will not follow them down, and they will not clamber back up, and we must move on without them.
  3. Yes, almost no one would want their daughter to marry a man like that or their sons to become a man like that, anathema to every characteristic of decency, but still push they button to vote him the most powerful man in the world.
  4. He's spent the last 7 years relentlessly preaching to the American people that they can't trust the press, they can't trust the courts, they can't trust our electoral system, they can't trust our intelligence services, they can't trust our military leaders, they can't trust the legislature, they can't trust science, they can't trust medicine, they can't trust their own eyes--and you certainly can't trust any other leader. Indeed, he has done his level best to undermine confidence in every American institution until all that remains is Trump. And, beyond all sense and reason, 30%+ of the population has been persuaded more quickly and completely than seemed possible. And they show up for him, time and time again, to defend the indefensible. It really is extraordinary that a man who demonstrably lies about nearly everything -- big, small, consequential or trivial -- has convinced so many people to trust in him and him alone.
  5. Hate feels like far too personal a reaction. I utterly deplore him and think he's one of the worst human beings on the planet doing more harm to the United States than anyone since Jefferson Davis and Co. He has no redeeming qualities. But it's not personal.
  6. No, but Private Bone Spurs proved that making fun of POWs will help get you the Republican nomination for presidency. “He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
  7. Agreed, the suburbs are unchanged. It's the urb that took the hit. It was a wonderfully livable city center. Not so much anymore. Hopefully they can figure it out.
  8. Eh. Five years ago Portland was a jewel of a city, an amazing place. We have a lot of history and connections in the area and I strongly considered moving there. It's currently broken. I don't mean it's all bad, or fifty square miles of hellscape or anything, but shine is off. The crime and homeless have exploded. You used to leave the airport and drive along the Columbia river. Now it's hard to see the river through the homeless RV shanty town lining the highway. I really wouldn't consider moving there now. And again, not because it's utterly ruined. Much of what made Portland great is still there underneath the decay. But because the municipal government doesn't seem equipped to fix it. Their poor recovery is well documented at this point. But yes, OP is way off base. The dining/foodie and coffee scene in Portland are still extraordinary. That's what Portland people do.
  9. Indeed. No one actually knows those rules or, outside of desecration, cares a whit. That's why even the people pretending to be outraged on social media couldn't cite a legit violation. They had never read that code before. Rather, they saw a Pride flag and started googling for a problem to serve as proxy for their bigotry. And didn't particularly care when they didn't find one.
  10. Yeah, I'm sure that you and your mother think you're super smart and a very special boy. ?
  11. And look what the Republicans have done to them. Only Mitt Romney has been able to carry on, and that's down to religion and unique circumstances of Utah politics. Ouch.
  12. This is definitely a 52>48 moment. Sigh. Okay, slowpoke. Indeed, the article in the OP cited the flag code as follows: "Fitton went on to cite US Flag Code §7. (e), which reads, “The flag of the United States of America should be at the center and at the highest point of the group when a number of flags of States or localities or pennants of societies are grouped and displayed from staffs.” You do know what a citation is, right? Some even tweeted screenshots of the same, which were included in the article, which I also shared with you. 3 things are now obvious. 1. The Pride flag is obviously outside the scope of the cited passage -- prima facie. 2. Any news (or would-be news) organization reporting obviously incorrect information from random Twitter users as if it were a real story is pure garbage. 3. You're too farking thick to follow points one and two.
  13. Hey, Jackass. That's not what was cited in the Twitter posts or the article, which is what Deluge and I were discussing. I said they were wrong. He said they weren't. Blah blah blah. -- Of course they are wrong and the reporting is garbage. You continue to want to talk about your interpretation, of a different section of the code than that which was cited in the article. That's your prerogative, but also entirely irrelevant to the erroneous reporting. And as yesterday, the US flag appears to the left and the right. A. It's well established in the code what kind of flags they are referring to. B. That's clearly talking about a linear display, not a circular pattern with US flags in multiple positions. If your dumb interpretation were correct then US flags could never be displayed at a round table. It's nonsense. But you cling to it like a drowning man. Lame.
  14. I can post the language from the article for you -- and did in the post you just quoted--but I can't read it for you or understand it for you.
  15. Nah. The code is pretty clear. It clearly identifies exactly what kinds of flags the code applies to. They itemize it. They could have left it open at any flag, but they didn't. -- And the US flag is to the left and the right. Is it subordinate and superior all at once? Is this Schrodinger's flag? lol -- this is a non-issue June happens to be Pride month. lol. -- If you're thinking of flag week, that started yesterday.
  16. Exactly what? -- It doesn't represent a state, locality or society, so clearly is not in violation of that code section.
  17. Great. What nation does the Pride flag represent? Are they displayed on staffs? Again, you don't actually care about the flag protocol. You are just grumpy that this white house is open to and inclusive of LGBTQ+ Americans.
  18. Oh for sure that's a tough ride. And then after you go past La Grande (I'm assuming) and back down past Pendleton it's a lot of nothing for a long time. Those passes are so steep they're closed very frequently in the winter. Good on you.
  19. A. The US flag is at the highest point and centered on the building. This is a secondary display in the photo. If you could look up in the image you'd see that. B. Read the article in your OP. Read the complaint from random twitter guy. They are specifically talking about Flags of other states, localities or societies. The Pride flag is not in that category. (Oh, and if we wanted to get pedantic about it, this only applies to flags displayed from staffs.) This is the image from the article/Twitter. So no matter how you slice it, it's garbage "reporting." -- Just writing a story about what some random dude said on Twitter is already the bottom of the barrel for "news," but when it's as obviously incorrect as this is, that's a whole new flag. A red one. C. Nobody cares about arcane flag protocol anyway. Like seriously, nobody. It was just a chance to take a shot at Biden and the LGBTQ+ community.
  20. No, to the contrary, I very much assume that when you're asking something that seems obvious it's because you are a know-nothing and even terribly obvious things are beyond you. Hence why I have to explain things like 48 < 52. The Twitter poster and America's oldest tabloid were obviously wrong, and my point about their garbage version of journalism stands. But you want to complain about an entirely different part of the flag code? Okay internet lawyer from another country, 2 guesses what adorns the top, center of that building.?‍♀️ Nor are the lower flags arranged linearly. They are a fractional circular pattern in which the US flags would appear on the left AND right. And in any case, the Pride flag is not of any legal entity, people or society. I guess I have to commend you for at least trying to speak to facts for once, even if it didn't quite work out.
  21. It's quoted in the tabloid article. That information is literally in the post to which you replied. As usual, you have not the slightest clue what is going on.
  22. This is classic tabloid crap from a classic tabloid. They're "reporting" on "accusations" from some random jackass on Twitter. They even quote the code in question, but can't be bothered to point out that the flag display OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT violate the code. What garbage.
  23. ^^ I'm sure this kind of retort seemed clever in third grade. Not so much in adult conversation. Seriously, just move on. Spend more time on job applications or get a hobby that's more productive than being a shitheel on the internet.
  24. Spamming trolls have no interest in facts, even when they're spoon fed. What a turd in the punch bowl
  25. I can assume from your posting history that your have no idea what facts are, but for smarter folks playing along at home, I'm the only one who brought any facts to this conversation. The other poster's claim was that Biden was turning the US into a laughingstock. My two-part refutation was that no, America's international reputation actual hit record lows under a Trump and that we've climbed in global esteem since Biden took office. You know, facts that show the opposite of his claim. That's the way "debate" is supposed to work. ^^Those are facts, jackass. Instead of dealing with them in any way, you simply went on another unhinged rant. I'm sorry that you got laid off, or whatever, but don't make your abundance of free time everyone else's problem. Maybe stop spamming this board with insane twaddle. Try quality over quantity for a change.
