So, what do mean then? You said "Why would they have to tell us what they do with their money? If native people want to know what their governments do with their money that's up to them" To me you say when they get the money they can do as they want. and do not have to tell anyone what they do with it. So, "transparency" to you means they have to be on camera when making deals but when they get the money they don't have to use it as they say....they can do what they want with it. Never said there is enough transparency, as a matter of fact, I am saying there should be more....iike having to produce evidence what the doiwith government handout.

So, by your logic, when the government gives money to anyone, they can do what they want and do not have to tell anyone what they did with it? Billions to companies, to provinces, to municipalities ,and those recipients can just stuff their coffers or do whatever?? What is this "transparency " you speak about??

Opinions are like ass holes everyone has one or is one

I think you may be speaking of the 80+ year olds that had no use for and no desire or need to learn that technology. I have no boomer friends that are computer illiterate. They are now retiring but before they did they had to work in the computer age so are very well versed in computer usage. Accusing boomers of selling their house for $1 million is naive. They can get $1 million because the buyer is willing to pay that, even creating price and bidding wars for it. The boomer does not care...fight it out LOL There is money out there, lots of vacations are sold out, lots of new cars out there and well, waiting lists for them even, financial advisors by the thousands. Each generation had its challenges, long before someone decided to name the generations. The next generation always blamed the previous ones for their failing, shortcomings and lack of opportunities...until their offspring comes along and blames them LOL My response, suck it up and make do with what you have.

Yeah, the myth that EV sales are down is some American politicians trying to make points and using Tesla as the sample. (mostly republican as they seem to be anti EV) Fact is more, almost all vehicle manufacturers are making EV's (or PHEV) and are adding to the volume and Tesla is actually a small part of the market now. The headlines are actually saying EV sales are rising.

1. Don't assume Michael. 2. Like everything in life, you make choices. Choose to move forward or chose not to. That applies to today as well. What and where folks want to work or what work they are willing to do is dubious. Lots of unskilled work out there but it pays little (less than social assistance) so it is not done by the unskilled. 3. Again Michael, you make your choices. Where you end up is a result of your effort and those choices. Michael, all I am saying is the the boomer generation began all this, give them credit as innovators and of getting things to move forward. Those that came after took advantage and yes, advanced but, they already had the field with lines on it. They just had to play on that field. What is "demanded" of workers is effort, constant and unrestrained. What was demanded of workers back then was effort, constant and unrestrained. What is given today is effort, with constraints and more demands.

"Ford says its EV sales shot up 80 per cent last year and are expected to grow about 30 per cent this year.". That is Ford alone. "EV Volumes currently forecasts that the plug-in share of light-vehicle sales will reach 12.7% in 2024, then 16.5% in 2025 and 35% in 2029." "the global electric car sales reached almost 14 million, which represented a 35% increase from 2022. This growth meant that the global electric fleet rose to 40 million in 2023. And the trend seems to stay positive in 2024." Fact is EV sales are way up and climbing. With that kind of uptick in sales, it is clear people can afford to buy them The waiting listsat dealers is long. They are bailing out because it is not economically feasible to build in Canada. The other company getting 13 billion will do the same unless they become heavily subsidized.

1. I am not sure what you are assuming all boomers lack technical skills. They were the ones that basically instituted, developed and used them. If you are speaking of coding, yes, few understood coding but then, few needed to know it and do it. As today, there are more but they only develop as needed. 2. People being left behind may be of choice. I no longer am working so the advances in avionics, navigation technology, engine and aircraft manufacturing are of no interest anyone (or perhaps in passing only). To be passed by may have very well been a choice as opposed to being forced out. 3. Unskilled labour, meaning people that choose not to learn and/or refuse to are and have around since the dawn of time. Did we have jobs for shit shovelers or cow milkers etc years ago ? Yes but we found out we could make machines do it better, faster and most of all cheaper. An unskilled person made that choice, to be one. I am not sure what point you are trying to make? That boomers were not smart? Unskilled? Unwilling to learn? Unable tiokeep up with the times and technology? They started it all and when done, they moved on.... with all the trillions of dollars they accumulated. You do realize that most of the gazilionaires that started the technological advances are boomers?
-
1. What are you talking about?? 2. As technology advanced, so did training to use it. What is difficult to understand. Do you somehow think as technology advanced people were kicked out the door? 3. Are you assuming that working in manufacturing required no skills? We lost our ability to manufacture. Manufacturing left the country because we out priced ourselves. Our labour costs made products so expensive we could not buy them, let alone be competitive in export, hence, we stopped making them and manufacturing went off shore. Surely Michael, you know that LOL
-
Assess? Why do I need to assess. I know what I have, how hard I had to work and save ti have it. People then had the same skills as they do now. Difference is they used the skills. Our skills improved when technology improved, we had to be on a continuing learning cycle. You forgot is was us that advanced technology too. I was in aviation ad the technology never stopped improving and it is still improving. Every generation had its challenges and improvements. Nothing stagnated.
-
We had it hard too. Making excuses and trying to compare is wearing thin on us boomers. We are spending your inheritance and do not care.
-
Uh well, considering I was responding to "But these evil boomers are going to transfer a trillion dollars to the next Gen over the yrs as they die off. ", They worked, did without, saved and got ahead. The next gen think they are getting it all but the boomers are alive, retired and spending. I would say the boomers plan turned out quite well.
-
Yup, my mortgage was 11% in 79 then 12.5% in 84 then 13 in 89. The boomers paid their dues so the offspring have it better.
-
It was given to them,so yes, it is theirs but, you wanted transparency. You are OK with the government handing out money and never saying what was done with it? Or where it went? Or who kept ti for themselves? It is OK by you that the government is just an open vault with no need for the public to know where the money went? Or is it just the FN"s that do not have to tell?
-
And that everyone has all taken advantage of and enjoy today. They also had to live through many years or 7, 8 ,9 and 17% interest years. Oh and I hate unions too.
-
The government is transparent. They tell you how much and where the money goes. Thing is the FN's insist they don't have to tell you what they did with it. And, unfortunately, other recipients are the same. What goes out is one thing and what happens to it once it is out the door is another. Ask your MP for a detailed audit of the money his constituency has gotten and what it was used for... I would like ot hear the runaround respose LOL My involvement was to provide information to whoever paid $5 to ask for it...and we did.

So, when Harcourt said "the role of a Premiere is not to lead but to manage. He managed the province, didn't steer it. " He neither led, managed nor steered it well and had to quit? That is what i said...BC is still electing NDP no matter what they do LOL So much talk about left and right on this forum and no one ever says anything about the NDP left in BC LOL BC has been NDP for 18 of the past 25 years (?)
-
F8nny how the boomers today were the anti everything protesters in the 60's and y8 claim they have trilions to pass on. What are todays generation going to be when they grow up and realize they are living in a dream world and not in reality?? Just spend their grandparents money? LOL They can crap on grandpa and grandma biut they have what they do because of them.
-
Just an example of my issues with supporting FN's The Esk'etemc first nation in BC was just given $147 million over some old water rights https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/feds-pay-first-nation-in-b-c-147m-over-loss-of-water-rights-1.7275256 They have done fine since 1890's but now we pay. There are about 1000 members of the nation with less than 1/2 actually living on the reserve where they pay nothing and get everything. Where does the $147 million go? To finish the ditch from the lake? Is it even needed? Because I suspect if they actually want or need a ditch they would get it built by the feds. Or do they actually give it to members of the band? My point and very valid question is , we have, over recent years, given billions along with rights and land to the FN's and never stopped giving them handouts as per normal. Where does or did all the billions go?

Tsk Tsk Tsk...murderer worshipper
-
Geez, ya gone and done it... And.....You responded to mine.... I don't worship murderers and torturers like you. so ....LOL
-
Who cares?? Except you LOL What difference does it make? An opinion writer can be anyone of any age. no doogie, don't respond,go back to your alter to murdering and torturing soldiers LOL
-
He managed his wallet and NDP party coffers LOL The same Mike Harcourt that was forced to resign because his NDP party used charity bingos to raise money for him?? For giving big contracts to his supporters? And the numerous conflict of interests charges that finally led to his resigning?? LOL No matter what, BC forgives the NDP and keeps electing them LOL
