  2. Why should Canadian protect Israel??? They have killed far more Arabs and get praised for it?? Should Canadians not protect the innocents being killed by indiscriminate bombing by Israel? Really do not care what goes on in the Middle East. It has been a constant problem since State of Israel was thrust upon the world. Iran could nuke the entire region and it would not be missed.

  13. PROPAGANDA p on 9:23am on July 24, 2025 PIERRE POILIEVRE: “Another violent attack from someone who was out on bail for serious offences. Repeal Liberal catch and release laws…” FACT-CHECK: THERE IS NO LIBERAL CATCH AND RELEASE LAW. Canada’s bail laws are set by the Criminal Code and applied by (provincial) judges, not politicians. Judges can and do deny bail when someone is a public risk. Bail can also be denied for serious offences like gun crimes, gang involvement, or repeat violence. The law Poilievre blames, Bill C-75, was introduced by the Trudeau Liberals in 2018 and passed in 2019. It streamlined bail procedures, did not expand eligibility, and did not make bail easier for violent offenders. In fact, it expanded reverse onus for repeat domestic violence cases, making release harder. Poilievre voted in favour of Bill C-75. There was no Bill C-75 under Harper. Harper-era justice bills had different numbers. Section 515 of the Criminal Code still gives judges full authority to deny bail if someone is dangerous or a flight risk. If someone dangerous was released and reoffended, that is a decision failure, not a law failure. The bail system is not soft. The law has not been paused or repealed. Judges still have full authority to keep dangerous people in custody. The facts don’t match the rhetoric. And most people released on bail do not reoffend. According to the Department of Justice: “The vast majority of accused individuals who are released on bail comply with their conditions and attend court.” BOTTOM LINE: Poilievre supported the bail system he now attacks. He voted for it. “Catch and release” is a slogan, not a fact. Sources: Parliament of Canada (Bill C-75 voting record), Department of Justice Canada, Criminal Code s.515, CBC News, CTV News, LEGISinfo
  14. Well, the liberals were government 27 times vs 17 for the Conservatives since Confederation. Seems Canadians prefer Liberal.
  15. Interesting to hear him now but there were crickets from him before. We all know, or should know, the Chiefs of Defence Staff, are not Military but pure politicians, anointed by party in power (like all Generals) and play politics for the governing party. Last CDS with any balls was Lewis McKenzie and he did not last long
  16. So...back to topic... Sentencing for convoy protest leaders Lich, Barber scheduled for Oct. 7 https://ottawacitizen.com/news/lich-barber-sentencing-hearing
  17. Fact Check Time: Crime Rates in Canada By Steve Ward The Conservative Party of Canada and its unelected leader, former MP Pierre Poilievre, have been insisting for years that Canada's crime rate is rising at an alarming pace. In fact, one of Poilevre'e key three-word campaign policy slogans focused on this issue. During April's federal election Poilievre urged Canadians to "Stop The Crime" by voting Conservative. Right-wing parties often resort to a tough on crime agenda to address a purported surge in criminal activity. The actual statistics are typically ignored or manipulated in order to manufacture a crisis and whip people into a frenzy to frighten them into voting for the Conservatives who will 'solve' the crime issue and keep everyone safe. The party's approach toward criminality is also harsh and exceedingly punitive with longer jail sentences, tougher thresholds to earn parole, and little emphasis on rehabilitation or assisting former inmates in navigating various obstacles as they try to re-adjust to living in society. Conservative policies also tend to stigmatize people convicted of an offense for years after they have paid their fine and/or served their time. For example, the Harper Govenment extended the wait time to apply for a record suspension (referred to as a pardon in pre-Harper years) from three to five years. The additional two years of wait time does not deter crime. Instead, this shame-based approach only delays people from beng able to clear their record and get on wih their lives. So, do the actual facts support Poilievre's rants about a continuous and alarming rise in the number of criminal acts beng committed in Canadian society? The chart below uses official Statistics Canada data to track the number of violent, property, and other crimes committed by year from 1990-2023. I have not included data from each year during this thirty-three year period. Instead, overall trends can be identified easily enough using data from the following five years as a representative sample: 1990, 2000, 2010, 2020, and 2023. 1990-2023 Police Reported Crime Rate per 100,000 Population (Statistics Canada) 1990 Violent Crimes: 973 Property Crimes: 5,612 Other Crimes: 2,900 Total Crimes: 9,485 2000 Violent Crimes: 996 Property Crimes: 4,081 Other Crimes: 2,534 Total Crimes: 7,610 2010 Violent Crimes: 907 Property Crimes: 2,802 Other Crimes: 2,451 Total Crimes: 6,160 2020 Violent Crimes: 851 Property Crimes: 2,274 Other Crimes: 2,214 Total Crimes: 5,339 2023 Violent Crimes: 967 Property Crimes: 2,546 Other Crimes: 2,329 Total Crimes: 5,843 Comparative Data 2023 compared to 1990 Violent Crimes: -0.04% Property Crimes: -55% Other Crimes: -20% Total Crimes: -38% 2023 compared to 2000 Violent Crimes: -23% Property Crimes: -43% Other Crimes: -8% Total Crimes: -23% 2023 compared to 2010 Violent Crimes: +6% Property Crimes: -10% Other Crimes: -5% Total Crimes: -5% 2023 compared to 2020 Violent Crimes: +12% Property Crimes: +11% Other Crimes: +5% Total Crimes: +9% During the thirty-three year period between 1990 and 2023, property crimes had the largest decrease at 55% while the total number of crimes dropped 38%. During the twenty-three year period between 2000 and 2023, all types of crime decreased with the largest drop being 43% in property crimes. The total number of crimes declined by 23%. During the thirteen year period between 2010 and 2023, only violent crimes saw a 6% increase and the other types of crime declined, with the largest drop being 10% in property crimes. The total number of crimes decreased by 5%. There was an increase in all types of crime during the three-year period between 2020 and 2023 while the total number of crimes rose by 9%. It should be noted that this period included the COVID-19 pandemic. Canada's population totalled 27.7 million people in 1990 compared to 40.1 million in 2023, an increase of 12.4 million people or 31%. Despite population growth, the number of total crimes reported still dropped 38% during this thirty-three year period. This statistic serves to counter another right-wing contention, namely that increased immigration results in more criminal activity. Crime rates per 100,000 people peaked during the 1990s and then decreased over subsequent years. Crime rates did rise marginally between 2020-2023 and violent crimes increased gradually after 2010. However, 2023's total number of crimes was still 38% below 1990 levels, 23% below 2000 levels and 5% less than 2010 levels. Based on this data, it doesn't seem like we are facing a 'Crime Crisis.' Things were significantly more problematic on this front three decades ago. The very small rise in crimes since 2020 can possibly be attributed to the chaos and upheaval of the current decade (e.g. pandemic, steep increase in the cost of apartment rentals, overloaded health care system, lack of access to mental health supports and medications, etc.) A tough on crime focus is not essential at the present time. It would be more advantageous to allocate our finite resources to proactively strengthen our social programs, expand pharmacare, fix the health care system, enhance mental health supports, implement a living wage, replace ODSP and OW with a Basic Income Guarantee and build more affordable housing. If we invest in these positive supports, there will be less need in the future for significant investments in the justice system and policing. Better social programs and supports result in improved social outcomes and fewer people committing criminal acts.

  23. Polievere has been in parliament for 20 years. He has never even presented a bill let alone pass one. He was a lame duck for all those years. He was even minister for something and to nothing done there. Look, the conservatives are so shallow, they had to have an interim leader because the "leader" lost the election and his own seat yet, they still call him the "leader" of the conservatives LOL We all know Trudeau wore out his welcome and stepped down ...why can PP not see that is the honerable thing to do??
  24. Hey look...a minor player on the confux cesspool team want to say something....as profound as always ...NOT LOL
  25. Hmmm, Carney has been Prime Minister for 6 months and PP has oh wait...has had no seat for 5 months and lived rent free thanks to you. LOL Oh and as for qualifications...in his 20 years in Parliament....PP has never even had a bill LOL
