  1. So you think Akim Aliu is a communist?
  2. So I kind of doubt Bill Peters was strolling into the locker room... all like... "Yo, my nigger!" flashing gang signs... Although that would be funny to imagine.
  3. Hockey players are turning to Twitter to hold coaches to the fire for shitty behaviour... 2 coaches are down. Sounds good at first... But where does this go from here? Cancel culture warriors are foaming at the mouth. Twitter justice. Dangerous mojo.
  4. None that I can think of... You are making non-arguments here.
  5. Is Quebec actually not contributing anything? It's definitely not our star player right now. Seems to me it was a pretty strong player in getting the country started. A bit of an entitled whiner... this might be true. But I like Quebec. Montreal is an amazing city... probably one of the best urban centres in this country. Quebec City has a lot to be proud of. Quebec French culture is a lot of fun... Personally I think it makes Canada more interesting. Economically they have some shit to work out. No doubt. They need a kick in the pants and a bit less catering to.... but it should work out in the end.
  6. So we should jail boxers and martial artists? Watching sports is somehow immoral? You seem to have no concept of healthy competition and healthy struggle... You are a living embodiment of the "everyone should have a trophy and we should have no roughhousing in case anybody gets hurt or anyone's feelings get hurt" mentality.... This is a cultural malady.
  7. Speed, skill, teamwork, discipline, strategy, endurance, strength, courage.... hockey is Canada’s sport. Sportsmanship is a quality of the athlete and the team. Hockey and every other sport has examples of fine and poor sportsmanship. Maligning the entire sport of hockey represents ignorance and bad faith.
  8. Allegations on Twitter against Bill Peters - Calgary Flames head coach - using the N-word 10 years ago... making a stir. Details coming out about recently fired Leafs Head Coach uncouth motivational tactics. All of this is starting to sound like the "Me Too" movement. Thoughts?
  9. Not even close. But you seem pretty intent on jamming it on my foot.
  10. The oil industry is on hard times... I don't see how Trudeau is to blame for this. He did not engineer all the Climate March hooha.... He didn't sick Greta Thunberg on Alberta... All of this is not hatched from Trudeau's conspiratorial mind.... although he is happy to benefit from it. Canada and Alberta could easily end up with someone worse than Trudeau, the way the winds are blowing...
  11. Maybe start another thread? You know just for the sake of decency and order. I'll bet you will get a few posts.
  12. So I'm a white supremacist now! LOL You see how quickly this goes?
  13. He did whine a bit... and play the victim... But given his long career as the host of one of the most iconic programs in Canada... He was owed a more dignified exit. Like I said... he was flawed... but he was far from evil... when Ron described the rest of that very same episode this is obvious. But this "cancel culture" thing thrives on moralistic floggings... It's like some sort of Sharia state... where we send the morality police out to virtually flog any offenders. It's pretty sad.
  14. Booo.... The problem with the current "cancel culture" left is that they come off as cowardly and controlling. They insist on firing people they don't agree with .... IMMEDIATELY. This is something the dumb-as-bricks left seem incapable of comprehending. Don Cherry was a flawed human... but he also brought a lot of good to his community and his colleagues who obviously respected him. Cancelling him and mob brow beating him is a sad statement about our country today. He deserved better.... but he did screw up.... so I don't really disagree with benching him. More dignity though... that is what I'm asking for.
  15. Trudeau divided this country? Which Trudeau? You can't be seriously blaming Wexit on Trudeau Jr? Why... because of blackface? lol
  16. Rugged individualism has its attractions... The problem with rugged individualism is when it breaks down into a complete lack of cooperation.
  17. I suppose the greatest threat to the Monarchy is succession, which has always been the greatest challenge to monarchies. We haven't had to deal with this for some time given the longevity of the current monarch. Interesting times should be on their way. I suppose we could keep most of our institutions viable even if the monarchy jumps the shark... but it would be a shame.
  18. Canadian provinces are stronger together than they are apart as any effective team or organism is when it integrates differentiated parts well. Together we are greater than the sum of our parts. When one province is going through transition, the other provinces lend it a hand. When another province is strong it supports its fellow provinces, knowing that some day it can expect the same in return. This is true of any functioning team. Of course teams can be riven by jealousy, or by free riders... I think for the most part Canada has weathered it's serious storms. We are more resilient for it. This latest Wexit storm seems pretty weak by comparison.
  19. I just said America was fine... Again part of what is working for Canada is how fine America is. Nothing broken. Nothing to complain about.
  20. America may be propping us up. But that is part of what makes Canada work. We have good relations with our powerful neighbour. This is good for us... and good for America. We are a reliable trading partner. We send America plenty of our skilled people and accept plenty of theirs up here. Nothing broken about it. America isn't about to fail... that's part of the fantasy as well.... They are just being Americans, as they have always been... rumbling about their differences.... brawling on the streets. Living liberty to a fault.
  21. These are the facts. Canada has the security of it's geographic location and geopolitical allies. Makes us soft and complacent.... And yet... nothing really broken about it.
  22. I mean I catch your drift. Certainly the left-speak gets tiresome... But Canada is solid. It holds up. Celebrate it whatever way you will.
  23. Oh please... Post National Totalitarian regime... Give me a break.
  24. I spent some time in South Africa recently... That country is broken. Canada is among the least broken countries in existence right now. That's not to say it doesn't have flaws and problems... but the whining about our country being broken is about the only thing broken about our country.
  25. lol No need to go full throttle white supremacy/fascism there scooter... You will spill your pasta. Yzer is simply tugging on the curtain of our "multiculturalism" identity. The bedrock of Canada is firmly set on British values of liberalism... Our national heritage is not equally divided among all cultures... our Parliament, our judiciary, all of our institutions have evolved out of our British heritage. We extend these liberal rights to our new immigrants... but that does not make our foundational culture "multuculture"... Nothing to panic about.
