The reason western Canada wants to seperate is because they are paying taxes and high prices for oil they produce the provinces that actually produce the gas are paying over a buck more than any other province to get their own tanks filled with their gas. I don;t think it's fair and even I would want to seperate if my province was being treated unfairly.

I am making this topic to here your oppinions and issues and suggestions in the gas prices and what the federal, provincial governments can do to bring prices down. Gas prices have gone up more than 40 cents in just a few years. Already some cities and provinces are paying over 1.00 a litre or MORE!!! to go to the pumps and maybe if your lucky you live in a town that sells gas for 97 cents a litre. I don't think this is fair do you? Yesturday i saw on the national that we were paying some sort of gas tax to bring the federal deficit down and now that it is gone we are still paying this extra tax! The provincial and federal governemnts have to stop bathing in the tax money they get from gas and work on a solution to bring prices down or we are going to lose the western half of Canada. Whats your intake on this?

He did kill people but that was more than 20 years ago. As for 25 % of his GDP on military, if you were being threatened for now reason besides for your oil by a country armed to it's teeth with nukes wouldnt you be spending lots on your military? Yep apparntly are economy will be better than the United States earlier possibly in 10 years or so. Imagine the possibilities this opens up for Canada. New world trading partners more world countries trading with us. More GDP the possibilities just go on and on.

I have given what I believe to be a good explanation of how the Federal action can be constitutionally justified here. Who are you kidding? All our Armed Forces together couldn't protect P.E.I. from invasion from New Brunswick. Our military is a pathetic skeleton of it's former self, thanks to successive governments, especially Liberal governments dominated by PM's from Quebec. Why are we worried about a lousy island off the north-western coast of Greenland, which we also don't own, when we have far more pressing problem to worry about like homelessness, and our own children going to bed without enough food in their stomach's. More than 15 years ago the Canadian Government made a committment to eliminate child poverty by year 2000, and here it is 2005 and the probelm is just getting worse. This is a national disgrace for a country as rich as Canada. $Billions are wasted every day on frivilous endeavors and our government is worried about an island that doesn't matter anyway. Hi, this is my first post. I apologize if I'm posting incorrectly. It's been a while since I've posted on a board with posting rules. Well, I've had a couple issues with the passing of the Federal gay marriage bill(or whatever it was called). My first issue was that it's not the federal governments job. It's the province's and/or municipal governments job. It just seems these days that the federal government thinks it can make laws on anything. My second issue was basically with the proposed options by the parties. We have parties proposing that two persons can get married. We have parties(or party) proposing that it remain as man and woman. I found this kind of sad. Why do two consenting persons have to ask the government permission to get married? I guess that's my biggest beef. I remember seeing Ralph Klein on tv right after the bill was passed and he said he was going to work to get marriage out of the provincial politics. Which I thought was the best idea I heard anyone say. I'm not sure if he's continuing to pursue this. Where does the mentality come from that makes people think that the government can impose such a thing on people? Someone that advocates putting two persons can get married into law, are proposing that someone else could change this to man and woman. Wouldn't the most logical thing to do would be seperation of marriage and state? It has already been passed so stop whining you won you got what you want you got gay marrage passed. Even though I am against gay marrage which is my right to be just in case anyone wants ot have a beef against me. But the federal government does have juristiction over it thats why they call them federal it means they can screw up whatever they want in the hole country and tell the provincial governemtn and municipal government what to do.

Intuitively I would think Canada would also save energy by making the move, although I am open to seeing actual information from anybody on the issue. Canada will not save energy on this plan it will still be the same just people will have their lights on when its morning instead of night. Since the US is are trading partner than like another person said yes we should follow or else we will lose money trading to them but it annoys me when people say it will save Canadians money on energy usage.

No one can replace Harper in my oppinion. Yes Conservative leaders will come and go as the years go by but Harper is Harper if you know what I mean! He is just very inteligent. I am a conservative backer a year a way from voting so I can't say I vote for him yet but I believe in all of his policies. He is trying to change his image around like if you have read the news he actually put a smile on his face when he was being interviewed by a telivision reporter. I think by the end of summer and the new session of parliment ahead you will not see somone replaceing him but a new Harper an improved and better one than he used to be.

Yes it is worth it, in my opinion. However, if you don't wish to spend a year or two in Afghanistan peacekeeping then don't join the military. If you're currently in the military and don't want to be in Afghanistan peacekeeping, then don't re-enlist. Your absul;utly right about that, I didn't really mean to say it isn't worth leaving your familiy to go to war but at the same time I meant it. I guess it just kind of made me think of how I would feel if I were the one being sent to Afganistan for 20 years, I wouldnt fret if it were 2 or 3 but 20 just seems like a lot. But than again thats the reality we face when terror is the new Hitler.
