I am not insulting you, I am simpily stating my oppinion in this debate I am just disagreeing with you. But if I have insulted you my apoligies goes out to you. He wasnt elected he was choses by the Priminister or recommended by the DM. Their are not many people in parliment who are actually elected IE. the governeur general, defense minister etc. You elect the man who will represent you in this case it's the Priminister and he chose his cabinat members and of ocurse the chief of the defense staff. So in a way you did elect him (the General) when and if you voted libral. If you didn't liek his decission thats your choice but the only way to get rid of Hillier is to vote in another PM. -
Well I honestly think he is trying his best to change his image he starting with going out west this summer while Pariment was in recess for the summer. He has been doing a lot of work on his image down their and I honestly think he has become a changed and honest man since his last run. don't you agree? If everything goes well and he doesn't speak out like this years incident with his mind changing of the budget bill I think he can win at least a Minority.

I agree with g_bambino the GG and the Monarchy is a tie in are history and Ill be damned if like he said and we get cought up in the presidency like the south of us. Ol pierre back in his days in office tried to replace PM with the word president but luckily that didn;t go over well.

Your right Martin did screw the people like me who were waiting to get a big boost in are amred forces over. But as long as that minority lasts and for god sake I hope it does Mr HArper will push and push and nag (he is good at that) to get funding for are military. If worst comes to worse and people fall for Martins charm and he gets re elected he will have Hillier pushing him to keep up the funding. Like I said in another forum about Hillier, the General would make a damned fine Defense Minister. -
Hans Island but who's?

To answer you question. That one is pretty tough The DAnes wouldnt land forces on the island but than again if they were pissed off they would and we do have the security forces to protet are selves against the Danes. I did not say you could not care about both, just that the majority of Canadians have other priorities than security...Health care, education, to state a few, and there is little funding for all of it.... SOme do some don't and in my oppinion I think right now until are armed forces are restructured so they are adiquit to defend are borders and coasts we should be focused on defense right now. As for health care and education if you think their is little funding for those............ their is over 40 billion dollars for health care if nobody's happy with that move to the US where you have to pay for health care, thats what I say to those people who want it privitised by the way they should go their and with in a year they will coem crawling back to us for free health care again. Also education is taking for advantage here in Canada all kids do is screw around in school and never pay attention while thei are poor kids in Africa, Japan and numerous countries who would love to be in school and have an education right now but cant afford it. -

PArrish doesnt speak for Canadians. But how can you say the General has not done nothing. I think Bill Graham should be fired and Hillier should take up Minister of Defense. Hillier is doing a hell of a lot more serving the aArmed forces and fixing them in just a few months than Graham did in his years as DM. "The General is simply a person in a high position job, elected by no one to present the Canadian view. He had no business to publicly state what he did and pretend it means something. Ottawa had no business listening to the arrogant self importent jerk either." He actually does have business stating somthing sonsidering he holds a high possition in the Canadian armed forces. Plus i think somone in this forum also stating their is freedom of speech which also mean he can talk all he wants. I am affraid your oppinion doesn't matter on this one because he can talk untill the moon turns blue. How is he a self impotent arrogent jerk? he was stating a fact that are armed forces are for killing people and terrorists are scumbags. Are you one of those ones who think are armed forces are for rescuing your cat and terrorists well are just normal peacefull people? -
Well, 99 seats hardly accounts for all the straight, non-abortion types, so most of them are obviously voting for someone else. HUH??? I doubt he will bring Mulruny into the picture if he is smart because if he looks at the after math of Mulruny going out Kim Campell taking over for a few months than the election he should relise that they lost official opposition statis with an embarrassing 2 seats as I recall. But if he is dumb enough to actually bring Mulruny into the picture it proves he's dumb and he will have lost my vote!

"What makes her a great Canadian, mirror? Her skin colour? That she works for the CBC?" She makes a good GG considering she is young and more in touch with Politics becaus eof her career as CBC plus the fact that she is young she can get more young people in tune and interested in politics. By the way her "skin color" as you call it makes her the first black woman to become Governeur General it shows Canada that white and French people are not the only ones who can become GG or maybe soon become PM.

Why couln't she just stick with stopmping on Bush dolls now that was great! A few days ago the Chief of Defense staff for the DND spoke out against terrorists calling them "scumbags" and saying are soldiers are for killing. In my oppinion this is the reality, nobody wants to think a soldier is for killing but in truth that is the reality they are not for rescuing your cat when it get stuck in a tree or cleaning your house for you! they are trained to kill. As for his comments about scumbags well I think terrorists are scum to they are killing innocent civillians. Than Parrish speaks out saying that we should muzzle him. Yeesh Parrish isnt happy unless she can draw attention to herself. She either is on the terrorists side for defending them or she just doesnt know how to shutup! I think we shoudl muzzle her!

The U.S. cleared out of Afghanistan to pave the way for their Iraq invasion. Why are we fighting the Yanks' war? Iraq was an illegal and outright idiotic invasion with no purpose on the presidents part except for self gain (oil) Don't mix the war of Iraq and Afganistan together, Afganistan is a war on terror and to abolish terrorism the world's new threat, its not Hitler its not the Russians these are terrorists that we are fighting today. So I wouldnt call it a Yank war I would call it an allied war with all NATO Allies against the terrorists. -

What are you talking about buddy? soverenty and securtity are pretty much the same thing. What is the relevence of that point if i may ask? Well i might as well answer that question why cant we care about both I think most Canadians do care about soverenty because of this hole arctic thing and security enlight of the London Bombings if thats what yiu are implying? -

canadian_conservative replied to canadian_conservative's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Great point about this will not evenm bring are DND out of the hole I completly agree with you. But this new money that was given is a boost to what it could have been and it is a major start for the rehabilitation of are armed forces. If the Conservative government succeeds and brings the librals down next parliment session and Harper gets in office are armed forces are good and ready. About your top brass thing, yes we do report to an american general who is unfortunatly leading are forces but we havnt lost total soverenty casue of that he is just commanding the allied forces their. sombody needs to be in charge don't they? Their has also been generals from the Uk that have commanded the allied forces by the way. Are presence their is not for an american empire it is to help[ ease the terrorist activities by Taliban and Alqada their, and to bring peace and rehabilitation to this country. -

Daylight Savings
canadian_conservative replied to I miss Reagan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Honestly I don't really care if my Priminister goes along with this daylight savings time adjustment because nothings going to change in Canada no energy will be saved it will be you guys from the South of us that are going to save the money. I just think it's pointless for us to go and change what has been in place for generations needlesly. Unfortunatly if Canada doesn't want to lose money in shjipments to you guys we have to go along with it. -
Hans Island but who's?
canadian_conservative replied to canadian_conservative's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
read the news bucko their is gold, and other minerals as I recall as well as liek you said their is oil and wha do you mean by oh just oil their is a world oil shortage as I recall and countries are paying big bucks for oil Canada could become rich if we got oil from Hans Island. So even if their is just oil their, their is a point in fighting the Dutch for this tiny island it's the oil! -
exactly they will alway be here but their is somthing called civil marrage that they had before this kind of marrage was legalised why couldn't they just be happy with civil marrages?

Depressing summer for Martin Liberals
canadian_conservative replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes it's about time maybe will finnaly see an end to Libral rule and a start with the new conservatives which I will surely vote for heck if NDP Jack Layton becomes PM I won't be mad as long as Martin is out and is finished his rain of screwing the country over! -
Way to go Canadian armed forces!!! I think we are doing a good deed by sending are troops into Afganistan to rebuild, provide security and to do humanitarian aid all at the same time. I think it is proving Canada's roll in the world and proving to other countries that are armed forces can really to goo things for people. I think the money funded to are armed forces is a start to a good thing and hopefully can be made better within the future. I think are armed forces will be revamped to serve Canada and abroad Canada's military future is starting to look bright. Way too go Canada Good luck to are forces in Kandahar Afganistan may you come home safe.

It make shim perfectly effective if he speaks what he wants to say Well I got pissed off because this american is telling me that my country is intolerant of other nationalities or color when their country arrests muslums because of their religion and as i recal we never were predjudice or forced blacks to join are military to make them do all the dirty work. That has nothing to do with gays considering their are very few states in the USA that allow gay marrage. and no he has never said he doesnt want the walking the streets but he might as well ahve said that because thats mostly what he talks about. Now that Canada allows gays I dont think we are prejudice so... contradiction I think not

Is Hans Island Important?
canadian_conservative replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
True but critien said what he said because he belived in it. Well the govenrment doesnt give a rats you no what to care aout are markets or they wouldnt have given up lumber rights to mill workers and let 3 Abvitibi Mills go out of business. What they will think its's aggressive if we do that well what are they going to cancel from us we are already jipped off frm free trade and they closed are cattle border for way over 2 years i think more and have now just re opened it with very unfair restrictions I don't think they can cancel much more on are side of the border. By the way stopping electricity to them would be just as bad as stopping billions of dollars worth of cattle shipments into their country would it? -
Hans Island but who's?
canadian_conservative replied to canadian_conservative's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually people to gove a crap just look at the millions of people canadians and danes who are involved in this google battleground where both countries are thrashing eachother in forums over it I myslef ar enot one of them I prefer to keep how I feel about Canada having the island to polite arguments and debates but I am just saying people do care about it small or not. About you wanting to put up a wal so your saying you want Canada to become have communist half democracy thats what your saying comparing us to Germany's Split Communist democracy Berlin wall. And yes it does really matter I have probably said this over and over their are millins of dollars in resources on that island if Canada really wants to we can go to that island mine the resources and give the damn thing to the Danes if thats a good enough compromise!
