  1. Yeah status quo from Obama days were more like regression or slow growth with large income tax. If the status quo seems fine then why are half of you upset? You obviously don't like his tariffs because you don't want free trade. Trump cut taxes, boosted government spending for military and our economy is booming. News flash by the way, he's not a potted plant, he has to question everything and make a decision consistent with his gut feeling. Something we all have to do when placed in a position of leadership. Now whether you agree or not with his policy is a valid stance. During the 2016 election I thought trump was an idiot and bigot like many of you, so I didn't vote for him. I thought he was going to drop out before the general election, everyone thought this. But now seeing the amount of change and work he has done for America I am a reborn Trumpian. He's shown to be capable of listening to his advisers on issues that he lacks knowledge, regardless of his preconceived notion. And this is the point, you all can't get over the fact that an elected leader isn't required to be perfect in every way. Leaders are flawed like you and me but as long as they listen to feedback and make adjustment they will be as good as their adviser/experts. Look at his record on torture, he's support torture but decided that he respect his adviser enough to go with what they recommend. So the important point here is you're not just electing a president you're electing an entire administration. I happen to like his current administration.
  2. See here's the problem, politician are generally known to be distrustful because they lie, tacitly or not. Trump at least speaks his mind ,building rapport with his audience. Tact diplomacy gets you Trudeau and Obama. Deeply hated by half of the country as evidenced during the election. He's the president of the United States of America. By definition he can't even do authoritarian or dictatorial stuff. Our system has mechanism built in to check the executive branch. Does he wish he could do more without the legislative or judicial branch hindrance ? Sure, which president didn't... His inconsistency shows that he is willing to listen and change stance where needed, allowing him a large degree of political maneuver room unseen by previous presidents.
  3. Yo no lie, I literally thought about buying land in Canada for this very reason.... See I'm from texas and if the two ice cap melt I'm kind of in high water...
  4. Trump is an agent of change. He upsets the status quo as he promised to do during his campaign. He isn't dumb , he speaks his mind and listen to many different view point. Something that no previous politician managed to do.
  5. Simply because you all lack the initiative and will, not to mention distrust one another. It's like this, you are all a bunch of sheep and without strong leadership you will stray and fail. As winston churchchil put it, the only thing worse than fighting a war with allies is fighting one without. Take a look at your commonwealth and domestic politic to name a few issue.
  6. War is not perfect. You're weighing between the grim realities of war and human aspiration. I digress. Its something we're getting better at with each generation of smart weapons lol jk....
  7. I agree. then there would just be one world order and the rest of us in the later generation wouldn't have to deal with all this crap.
  8. I suppose but why? Is it our foreign policy or is it because you envy us? Or both?
  9. I personally support a two state solution but obviously I don't get to make those decision.
  10. No I'm talking about the "smugness" canadians and european have for america.
  11. It wasn't that obvious to me 200 post ago that you didn't like fascism.
  12. I can't tell if this is typical american loathing or just the fact that Canada want to be viewed more seriously by Americans or both?
  13. Oh i see. So lets discuss that in another thread. I'll start one later. But I will say that we absolutely do not want a collapse of Russia. They have too many nukes running around.
  14. Hey if you don't like the work you can always do it your self?
  15. pardon? could you elaborate?
  16. We have no moral obligation to do the impossible. We do our best. Second, military can only solve so much, it need a diplomatically lead effort/solution too. Which I'm proud to say America has always been a leader in.
  17. Right because 500 Russians decided to attack an American installation on their own without their government's knowledge, support and approval? Right.... Obama was referring to Ukraine and his lack of bolstering defense spending of freeloading european (some say Canadians as well but you get a free ride since you're canada) .
  18. We're Americans, we're not going to support no education for women. We don't support gross violation of human rights and dignity. We don't support the destruction of Israel. We don't support chopping heads off of people who disagree with you. What we do support is "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" MURICAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Obama risk adverse foreign policy and the EU lack of defense spending that caused it btw, Bunch of freeloaders. As for kicking the russian ass where its needed ummm look at syria... "200 to 300 of the attacking fighters were killed. The others retreated under merciless airstrikes from the United States" https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/24/world/middleeast/american-commandos-russian-mercenaries-syria.html
  20. We americans are very critical of our government, rightly so. However we do not tolerate outside criticism of our foreign policy, because from an international perspective we are one america. We send our sons and daughter in harm's way to defend our 240 year old experiment. Regardless of which political spectrum, we ALL support our troops, (our international envoy and peacekeepers)
  21. What? We are taking them head on. Or are you talking about world war 3 thermal nuclear war. We see Russia's fate as being tied to western europe. Why they chose to piss off the west and isolate themself is beyond us. Essentially we are putting them in time out.
  22. Ofcourse, we're americans. They don't call us revolutionary for nothing. Its not like we asked england for independence and they gave it.
  23. The predomimemt consensus amongst gun owners is that we should be allowed to have guns. Though with reasonable limits. The majority of which are used for recreational activity as illustrated below. For those not familiar with firearms this may look "military grade" but it is no different in functionality to many semi auto deer hunting rifle. The issue of mass shooting should be addressed then from a psychological perspective. Those intending to do harm does so because they feel alienated or isolated from society. Obviously everyone is different in how they react to this isolation, most commit suicide while a minority take it out on innocent victims. This is an attempt to rationalize the societal problem while also addressing the physical manifestation of those symptoms. Place thoughts below.
