2050’s are the demographic cliff. Also, everything the Liberals claim to want to do to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is undone by our massive immigration. I can promise you that these people don’t want to live without home heating in canvas tents, living off moss iced tea and bugs. They want all the comforts of a developed civilization and no politician will survive who tries to remove the opportunity to have these benefits, thankfully. Carbon taxes are nothing more than a way that the ruling elite who do whatever they want get to relieve their guilt on the backs of workers who are struggling to have a portion of what the elites enjoy. Of course! And none of this policy will make a difference to climate change.

Don’t worry about it. Alternative energy sources are coming along with a lower population due to massive demographic shifts once all the Boomers die off. That’s why I don’t want to pay to fight “climate change,” because I know that the carbon taxes we destroy ourselves to pay won’t make nearly as much difference to global greenhouse gas emissions as the inevitable technological changes and drop in population. In fact, we should get our resources to market while the market still exists. Russia and China know this. There’s plenty of oil and uranium in Canada alone to fuel the entire planet far beyond the next century. We won’t get that kind of monopoly on supplying the world with energy, so we’ll probably be flush with resources and energy for many centuries. Can you imagine what new energy and material technology will exist just a century from now?

Very exacting posts, Groot. It’s refreshing to see honesty combined with confidence and clarity, as many posters on here and the politicians they support lack conviction and the backbone to support it. I think young people desperately crave honest, insightful criticism of dubious cultural narratives that have no scientific or ethical basis but have been rammed down their throats by left-wing ideologues over the past several years.

Don’t be silly. Sell as much as you can before the radical left shut it down completely. Already happening.

So basically your rights aren’t protected in Canada if the government of the day with the blessing of the courts decides to violate them. There can always be a “crisis” to justify actions. “Keeping people safe” is another great excuse to oppress. This was the excuse police used in China for beating up a BBC journalist. No, we need stronger constitutional protections.
-
I suggest getting the resources to market before China and Russia, as our resources will likely be so heavily taxed, regulated, and expensive to extract soon that no one will bother. Already happening. Just look at pipelines. Yes it’s all about the money because our government is thoroughly immoral and has no business pushing lifestyle choices on our vulnerable youth. Government is there to provide the essential unprofitable services and nothing more. Get government out of the way as much as possible. They are destroying the country.

$3.25 US a gallon in many US states. Europeans are screwed on fuel, water, electricity, and heating prices. Do NOT emulate the Europeans. They have almost no disposable income and lower living standards.

I have deeper knowledge of these topics than most of my interlocutors on here. I want to learn but see few lessons so far. Of course some regulations are necessary, but the endless consultations and over the top environmental assessments need to stop. We’ve discussed more specifics about bills and legislation in past discussions. As for your support of bubble wrapping culture, no thanks. We have a generation of young people who can’t handle basic real world problems, including minor ailments. I agree that the vulnerable should protect themselves with available resources and there are plenty. No further Covid mandates necessary.

You don’t have property rights in Canada. You can’t plead the 5th. You don’t have protected right of protest. You don’t have protected medical discretion. Canada has become more dictatorial and communist in these past several years. Attempts at removing free speech from the internet are well underway. Our leadership now promotes shaming and silencing of political opponents.

If we scrap all of Trudeau’s special interest programs, carbon taxes, and lower taxes in general, people will have more disposable income. Also let those who want to set up private healthcare clinics and charge high prices to those who are willing to pay them do so. We can simply let all the immigrant doctors who are driving Uber finally become family doctors and join our universal healthcare system. They can prescribe Amoxicillin to half their patients like all of our current doctors. Oh yeah, and deregulate our natural resource sector so people can make real money and Indigenous can have good jobs near their communities without relying on paternalistic government victim programs. People need more rights and opportunities for real self-determination. As for your mention of the kinds of ailments we’ve been dealing with for centuries, incentivize fitness as Harper did and let people build up their immunity rather than trapping them in permanent masking bubbles and making them over-dependent on pharmaceuticals. Covid is now flu-like and flu is part of life. Get vaxed if you want but no one should make you. We need to respect personal discretion and rights. I don’t subscribe to Trudeau’s world views or values. He can go on all the drag shows he wants. Keep him away from my children.

You praise Canada no matter how dictatorial and unconstitutional our government behaves, repeating the same anti-American refrain I’ve heard my whole life. Well guess what, American rights are more protected and there are more rights in America than Canada. I know that doesn’t fit your anti-American narrative, but it’s true.

You ascribe zero rights to the unborn and bring zero perspective to the debate. We already know that “My body, my choice” is the law of the land on abortion rights in Canada, without any legal restrictions or protections for the unborn child up to the expected delivery date. You’re a femme supremacist who places a mother’s rights above a child’s rights in a zero sum way, with zero rights for unborn children. We won’t agree on this. I don’t expect any thoughtful debate on abortion. You’re like my “Destroy the patriarchy” NDP aunt. However, any political party that refuses allowing its members to vote with their conscience is fundamentally bad. Trudeau has destroyed the Liberal Party of Canada for this reason, though there are certainly other reasons. It’s the attempt to dictate belief and end pluralism that I’m taking particular issue with here. It’s part of a pattern of wanting to control how we all live and think. It’s the same overreach we saw with the vaccine mandates and banning of protests against them.
-
No that’s an entirely irresponsible opinion. We enshrine minority and individual rights so that fundamental human rights are protected. You’re really off base here, but your perspective is what will allow any majority government to strip rights from citizens. Your views are actually very dangerous and susceptible to evil.
-
Nice framing lie to make abortion about women’s health rather than the ending of a human life. Decades of desensitization from reality… Having an abortion much like getting pregnant is a choice in 99% of cases. At least Chrétien said he was against it and understood that some others in caucus also oppose it. He said that the Supreme Court had overturned the ban and he wouldn’t table the issue. Harper said it wasn’t going to be tabled by the Conservatives. Only Trudeau requires Liberal party members to support abortion. Get your facts straight.

There is no country on Earth where humans don’t live somewhat at the expense of certain species and with environmental impacts. That’s called the Darwinian struggle to survive and humans are at the top of the food chain. You don’t want to be further down that chain unless you’re suicidal. The only “genocide” Canada is guilty of by today’s standards is one of the dominant groups in society placing their values at the centre and pushing those who disagree or can’t conform easily in various ways. That’s true in every country throughout history. It’s true today as the poor and middle class are pushed financially to fight for the elite’s crusade against climate change and for public health purity. You could substitute the racial purity of the 1930’s if you want. They’re not as dissimilar as you might think. I use the word crusade intentionally. Canada’s giant blunder today is adding unnecessary costs to workers (carbon and other excess taxes) and stripping away individual rights in attempts to make us look pure. Of course it’s not working. It’s only raised the cost of living and made us less free.

I’d say that the EA and general reaction of the government to the protests are seen by half the country as a disgusting abomination of democracy. The problem for Canadians is that the media and government are run by a segment of the other half of Canadians. I’d call them the self-preserving elites who don’t really do much of consequence. They can’t farm or build generally. They don’t get their hands dirty or associate with the workers that they claim to support but actually loathe. They’re entirely reliant on the obedience of the military and police. It scared the hell out of the Liberals to see sympathy for the convoy among the police. Trudeau, Freeland, and Lametti couldn’t believe that anyone would dare to try to change draconian policies through protests. Their pride and fear of rebellion made them double down on their oppression, but it was oppression. The rest of the world and half of Canadians saw the precariousness of a government trying to dictate how people should live and think. The government shut down the protest, but the protest forced governments to relax policies. Trudeau and Freeland wanted to maintain restrictions and to tighten them further. The convoy did force government to back off somewhat.

Sad that the unions only support left wingers. I guess the teacher could try the Ministry of Labour or the courts because they’re unbiased, right? Lol
-
You do realize that you are basically seen on here as indistinguishable from Trudeau on mandates? That’s why I don’t think you’re real. Only a complete fool or fraud would so fervently defend Trudeau’s language. Then again there’s an abundance of foolishness holding court in Trudeau’s Canada.
-
The teacher is fired for telling the truth. Welcome to communist Canada.

This is why parents need to start pushing back against the ideologues and liars running our indoctrination (I mean education) systems. Do I think this will happen? No. Canadians are too fully indoctrinated by false radical left narratives to mount a successful challenge. Canada is now the place where citizens are forced by media and governments to recite views that are unverified and damaging to the country’s social fabric and reputation. People are taught to be ashamed and give away more earnings to governments to fight trumped up crises. This isn’t the great country I remember, so I’m trying to give my kids an out before the next “crisis”.
