I just think this EC thing is way out of date, although having said that, ironically this time around the concept of protecting the country from a whack job leader may have failed. I prefer the Canadian system where you don't need 50+1 to win, but then we have much stronger representation from more than 2 parties unlike the US.

When I was a kid the likelihood of seeing a black Santa at a mall was pretty remote, and I'm not sure how that would have affected me. However, I came to my own conclusion that he was a myth eventually, and it wasn't traumatic at all. It was good fun while it lasted and then I moved on.

Why do you need over 50%, why not just an overwhelming majority of the popular vote, such as Hillary got this time around?
