I'm sharing a post that my Sufi freind made.  He posts regularly like this, in his blogs and speaking events, denouncing extremists of all forms in Islam (even the things that some Westerners don't consider extreme and make excuses for, he calls out.)  

"The most important thing in Islam is compassion and kindness towards people and animals. What is considered the pillars of Islam - such as prayers, fasting and pilgrimaage to Mecca - are meaningless if there is no compassion in your heart.

The Messenger of Allah said, "A woman entered Hell becasue of a cat which she ited up and did not feed, nor did she let it loose to feed upon the vermin of teh earth." (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3140; Mulsim, 2242.)

If this is true for the mistreatment of a cat, what would God say about those terrorists who are killing people in teh thousands?  They have twisted minds, evil hearts and are far removed from truth.

Deaf, dumb and blind, they will not return to the path of wisdom."
