  1. Doesn't the Governor General have some power on this sort of issue? If not wouldn't that mean that if any party were to gain a majority they could do whatever they please for four years, because while I realize that they have the power to pass basically whatever legislation they like it seems like there should be some checks and balance or there would be no democracy..
  2. Mid-election we started to hear about a report which apparently could implicate the Harper government in very irresponsible spending and deceiving parliament. What happened to this? It seems like the issue has just dropped right off the table. When parliament resumes this is going to come out, could we see Harper unseated by this new information?
  3. I'd say after the Correspondents' Dinner Trump is probably done with trying to discredit obama... Obama's "birth video" Just a few more jokes about Trump...
  4. I will.. I actually really like the idea of Forums but I never bothered making an account until these elections.. That surge of new members might also reflect the increasing interest that the youth have in politics. I personally couldn't vote until this election so I had little inclination to follow the politics.
  5. Near zero but it's either this or study for my english exam on the Iliad and Antigone so... I'm sticking with posting whatever comes to mind. If I do make a difference, great. If not, at least I kinda tried
  6. Haha.. my apologies if you intended that sarcastically Hydra. It's tough to gauge from reading, and I've seen some serious socialist bashing lately.
  7. GET OUT AND VOTE!

  8. Don't forget the press area.. let's tag on an additional 50 or so and just fill the house with NDP.
  9. I'm not implying that people should simply vote against Harper without researching, I'm simply saying that if you're at the booth filling in a tick box, you've proven that you respect and value democracy, Mr. Harper does not. A vote for the Conservative party is a vote for a Prime Minister who has actually disregarded the will of parliament and the Canadian electorate on numerous occasions. Voting against the Conservatives means A) you support a party who believes in what you believe in: Democracy, B ) you stop the train of lies and put in place a government that is actually responsible and accountable for its actions.
  10. Prime Minister Harper has always claimed he doesn't watch the polls, but it seems he might want to start. The Tories might be in for a very rude awakening tonight.
  11. Troll much? Personally I'd say a vote for Harper's Conservatives could lead straight down the path of Soviet Russia right into the Orwellian Regime they've got today. Just because you don't support the conservatives doesn't make you a "commie SOB", it just shows that you have some semblance of intelligence. I personally come from a upper middle class family who would suffer the most from the NDP's proposed taxes, but I have the mental capacity to think not only of myself, but instead of the future of our nation and the wellbeing of all. If you prefer to preach selfishness and deceit, then by all means go out and vote for the Conservative candidate today, but if you value the future of our country, and the ideals for which it stands, you'll quickly realize that you must uphold the socialist combination of a strong economy and government funded services for all. http://www.facebook.com/pages/ABC-Anything-But-Conservative/166842386705018?sk=info
  12. Hahaha... "Leap like trout." I love it. I also agree with this.. If the NDP become the official opposition there's not a chance in hell that Layton will put up with Harper, he will instead form a coalition and probably end up having Harper brought up on criminal charges for contempt of parliament... I'm not saying he'll get a conviction but it would be well worth it to ruin Harper's already miniscule credibility. Please check out my facebook page and vote ABC. Anything but Conservative. http://www.facebook.com/pages/ABC-Anything-But-Conservative/166842386705018?sk=info On a slightly more relaxed note you will probably all enjoy this...
  13. I like the way you think my friend. GO NDP! I've already cast my vote, whether the NDP comes out of this as a minority government or the official opposition it will be a memorable day in canadian politics!
  14. All throughout the federal leader's debate Mr. Harper kept referring to his opponents arguments as bickering , but it is this sort of petty squabbling and Conservative backstabbing that stops real parliamentary process from happening. Let's review the evidence here. Mr. Layton was found in a massage parlor naked - FACT. The masseuse was seen disposing of wet kleenex - FACT. I was in physiotherapy for months after a snowboarding injury and every single time I went for massages I got naked, wrapped myself in a towel, and got a massage. If massage oil was used, it got wiped up, with - wait for it - kleenex. Just because the conservative party can't actually come up with anything bad to say about Jack Layton they've stooped to attempting to make him look like a womanizer who goes to brothels, a fact which is clearly not true, and even if it were, he is still happily married 15 years later so I'd say its fairly safe to assume that either his wife put him in line or there wasn't a problem to begin with.
  15. Before you start making assumptions without any actual proof besides that one representative couldn't think quickly on her feet, check this video out. CBC recently outlined each of the federal parties plans for job creation very clearly. http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/News/1221258968/ID=1905424704 In addition, for anyone who has never actually watched the firing line, you should realize that the program is essentially just an argumentative abuse of debate protocols. It usually just comes down to who can speak the fastest and loudest, which is generally the conservatives since they have more practice shoving their views down other's throats.
  16. On election day I am urging you, as our good friend Danny Williams once did, to vote anything but conservative. The Harper Government has led a reckless and deceitful reign, and it needs to stop. Spread the word to anyone and everyone, and get out there and vote ABC - Anything But Conservative. If you would like to see why Stephen Harper is not fit to govern, please read through some of the points at the following websites. One minute of your time could decide the future of the greatest country on the planet. Please checkout these links, they have many examples of the work of Harper's mock Orwellian regime. Shit Harper did: http://shitharperdid.ca.nyud.net/ Show your support to every group you can. In the end, if the masses see that there's a wave the public opinion will turn. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Vote-ABC-Anybody-But-Conservative/209931137894?sk=wall While this is very biased it makes a very amusing point: Spread the word. Tell everyone. We can make a difference. On election day, take down the Harpocrisy. Vote ABC. 17. hahaha.. everyone should really watch this.. while it is extremely biased, it is fairly well directed and makes a solid point. -Amorris1123
