  1. Yup just like the BQ convinced a hell of a lot of Quebecers to vote for them. How well do you think they could replicate that success outside of Quebec?
  2. They better hope that 60% funding is enough to convince the 75% of Canada outside of Quebec who didn't vote for them that they aren't a joke party now that they are in the spotlight.
  3. Only if you consider smashing windows and looting as peaceful protest. That's true, you can blame the protesters for that. That was essentially their goal anyway.
  4. . Why would I be there? I have better things to do with my time than smash windows and burn police cars. If you were there, then why would I argue with you? You've already figured out the secret corporate plot to kill all the animals and trees.
  5. You implied that the starting salary for "constables" was 91000 (no mention of 1st class or the necessary 5yrs of service). Quit lying, it's right there for everyone to read. Of course you don't understand the rest of my post but anyone with half a brain can figure out the difference between mandatory training and optional professional designations. I'll have to settle for that.
  6. Is she a cashier (I mean "post office clerk")? Who wouldn't feel embarrassed cashing a $1500 cheque for 2 weeks work as a low volume cashier while the cashiers across the aisle at Shopper's are making $700 for working twice as hard?
  7. Haha listen to these kooks: "The amount of money spent on the G20 could have erased homelessness in Canada!" Yup, I'm sure she's got a great business plan for how we can erase homelessness with $500-$1000 per homeless person. "We're just trying to protect our planet!" "People say that this vandalism is violence, but what those corporations do on a daily basis is actually killing real people, real animals, and the environment on a daily basis!"
  8. What's your point? As mentioned above, police don't make nearly as much as your fabricated claims. Hairdressers don't have to train at all. I've never trained as a hairdresser, but I could charge people to cut their hair if I had a talent for it. It might take 3 years to become a REGISTERED massage therapist, but you can give massages without any designation. Your services might not have very high demand unless you offer 'happy endings' though. How can you continue to blatantly try to obfuscate and deceive when I've already called you on it? What behaviour? Isolated incidents of anarchists getting put in their place? 'How dare they beat up honest looters and vandals! I'm outraged, that could have been me getting beat down for innocently looting and throwing rocks at windows and cops!!' If you ask me, the cops went way too easy on them. I had to walk an hour to timmies to get my coffee every morning for a week after the G20 because hippies decided that throwing rocks through the windows of every tim horton's in the downtown core (not to mention every other business) would show those corporate fat cats who's boss.
  9. That is a more accurate assessment (for some industries) than Battletoads, but the focus of government should be on promoting enhanced competition in the free market to negate this effect, not to legislate the creation of monopolies that take the abnormal profits earned by investors/owners and hand them over (risk-free) to unions and unskilled labour.
  10. Yes economists, statisticians, and financial professionals believe "this shit". Even when the market fails, monopolization cannot really exist when there is an anti-trust regulatory body in place. Equity returns on the S&P500 over the last 10 years have been around 0.6%/yr. Equity prices reflect the profitability and future growth prospects of companies. And your proposed minimizing force is laughable. When has the public sector ever "died"?
  11. Actually basic economics says that perfect competition leads to 0 profits in the long run. You can extend that to meaning zero excess profits for investors (given the riskiness of the investment). That is, the investors will only receive a risk-adjusted return in line with market returns. Where are you getting your "historical market trends" of 7%? What makes you think the intermediaries in a supply chain don't also have inflated costs in a public system? The point is that competition eventually forces companies to minimize costs such that their profits are the minimum possible profits that a company in that industry could generate to attract capital. There is no such minimizing force for a public sector company.
  12. Fixed. And here's some proof: http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/CTVNewsAt11/20060414/whistleblower_mail_060427/
  13. I think you'd be surprised at the education of the police force. I also think you underestimate the risk. Not to mention the abuse policemen or "pigs" face. They also go through police academy for a year I believe. Not to mention they carry a gun. As far as I know, there are no psyche tests for a mailman. I would have no problem trusting our policemen to deliver my mail, I would be terrified if our mailmen were given guns and told to serve and protect us. Cite? http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/careers/salaryandbenefits.php You'd be more credible if you didn't make shit up to justify your anti-police rants. Only 1st class constables will be making 91k in 2014. Policemen start at about the same salary as mailmen, but I'm pretty sure they don't get 7 weeks vacation.
  14. How are "lefty" and "right wingnut" similar? "Lefty" is just a shortened way of saying "someone whose ideologies lie on the left of the political spectrum". Wingnut implies insanity and would be similar to pinko. Lefty = an acknowledgement of your political beliefs. Get over it. If you're so ashamed of being called a lefty, maybe you're on the wrong side.
  15. Good point. Cut those police wages to pay our starving mailmen!!!
  16. Hahahahaha check out the terms of the current agreement: http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2011/05/31/tasha-kheiriddin-will-canadians-go-postal-over-a-cupw-strike/ How anyone can defend these greedy unions is beyond me. What a drain on our country.
  17. Except that private companies face competition if they keep raising prices while letting their costs get out of control whereas Canada Post has a legislated monopoly.
  18. Notwithstanding the nonsensical conspiracy theories of the new poster, this is a funny comment on a Canadian Politics board. Seems you do spend some time worrying about life outside of your borders by your existence in this forum. But maybe I misinterpreted this comment since I haven't read much of the thread.
  19. I'm sure you'd love to have your boss's job too, that doesn't make him overpaid (unless you work in the public sector where seniority trumps intelligence, hard-work, ambition, skill, or any of the other attributes that allow private sector executives to consistently generate economic gains for the public sector to leech from).
  20. I just find it funny that in the same thread that "left-leaning" posters implied I was stupid, retarded, and irrational, Dave_ON decides I crossed the line with "lefty". Not to mention that I had never even addressed him once in this thread. Acting as a pseudo-moderator wouldn't be so bad if he demonstrated some impartiality rather than blatant bias.
  21. Please tell me you're joking? Did I even address you at all in this thread? I don't know what ideologies you share but I assume you are generally left of centre on most issues, hence you are probably a "lefty". And isn't Michael Hardner a moderator? I was more rude to him than anyone else and he just gave it back like a man. Leave the moderation to the moderators. If you're so interested in censorship, you'd be better served chaining yourself on stage at a Christie Blatchford speech than whining that I called people who are left of centre "lefties".
  22. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties http://www.iraqbodycount.org/ Documented civilian deaths from violence 101,097 – 110,421 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in_Darfur 300,000-330,000[8] civilians killed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Libyan_civil_war Estimated total killed on both sides including civilians: 10,000[30 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in_Afghanistan_(2001%E2%80%93present) Total Military Killed 13,107 Civilian deaths: 14,000-34,000 approx.
  23. Well at least you understood my point. That is a good argument. Like I said, anything can happen in 4 years, we'll have to wait to find out.
