I admit lack of knowledge about Arab spring. This action eventually led to anti western revolution 25 years later as a result the west is dealing with a very powerful anti West nation past 40 years and they deserve it for their actions. so Rhodesia (1965 - 1979) was a majority rule? Blacks treated equally before the law and became ministers and prime ministers (like Ian Smith) and shared the wealth of the country on a fair basis. Bravo cybercoma for giving a living example. Actually my best friend was an Iranian lady for several years. She told me a lot about Iran and Iranians. Very progressive lady and so were her family who came to Canada two decades ago from a city of over 10 million. I also met a number of her friends too, some Iranians of both genders and in fact we did go to discos and bars together dancing and drinking. More progressive than any average girl in Montreal even. I met her family too and they too were all very progressive thinking and highly educated. What you say is very correct. She was surprised how poor the health care system in Canada is considering this is a rich country compare to Iran. Saying that all people from middle east or Muslims are backward thinking and non-compatible is simply stupid. As yet another example Nazanin Afshin Jam is another Iranian in Canada, I wasn't lucky enough to meet her but she is a very intelligent beautiful young lady who became Miss World Canada 2003 and Miss Universe runner up soon after, She represented Canada in the contest. She is a human rights activists and has contributed very positively to Canada. I guess those people wanted to ban her (or her family) to come to Canada simply because she (or they) wasn't born in Europe!!! Wrong on all accounts and bigotry is not limited to hatred based on race or skin color but religion too. And of course in your case you not only hate Muslims but had said clearly that progressive people can only be found in those with white skin!!!! So let me see if I understand it correctly. You yourself are an African IMMIGRANT in Canada?. You have come to Canada yourself and settled and you wish to slam the door on others? And Africans are not violent? Remember the Rwanda massacre and mass rape in 1994 (not considering systematic rape in other parts of African continent). Considering less than 5% of that country's population are Muslims then may be we should stop taking immigrants from Africa too? Or is that we are too afraid to say no to black people? (a reference to your allegation that we are too afraid to say no to brown people!!!!) And while you are talking about OUR laws, ways and traditions (which I assume you meant Canadian not African). Well I have news for you. Canadian ways and traditions does NOT include bigotry and that makes you contrary to OUR ways and traditions as per your statements. YOU are the one who is trying to change our ways and traditions NOT most of Muslim immigrants. It is wrong to stereotype any group of people as violent, rapists, disrespectful because some of them are and this (a minority violent, rapist, disrespectful) could be among any race or religion or group of people. This kind of bigotry is UNCANADIAN. Those who do it are not compatible with kind and compassionate Canadian culture and should have failed adaptability when they applied for immigration.

I lived in UK for a few years when I was in my teens. As I recall there were physical attacks and assaults on Pakistani (Muslims) and Indian immigrants by supporters of an extreme right wing party called National Front and another called British National Party. That is hardly Muslims fault. I NEVER heard of gang of Muslims raping white women. I read about this now for the first time. I have heard about North African Muslims mainly Algerians causing riots and clashes with the police in France. The reason I have heard is because they are discriminated against (Unlike Canada they have not been selected based on a point system). Same reason we see riots by blacks in US cities. I never said or encouraged mass immigration of Muslims I have said again and again that adaptability which includes respect for freedoms and democracy and believing in equality of races and gender must be the DECIDING factor for Canadian government to select immigrants. That means to choose from those who are all above and that applies to Muslim immigrants as well. It is bigotry to say that all Muslims are fascist and disrespectful to women and rapists. Bigotry of the worse kind. As for Syrian refugees my posts always indicated an agreement with what Harper is saying that we take 10000 over 4 years and check them out thoroughly so not sure why you claim I said yes to massive Muslim immigration? I think that one out of every 5 immigrants should be Muslim chosen from those who pass the criteria above since Muslims are one fifth of world population.

A reflection of what I have read recently - A total surprise. I can't believe the fear mongering and even hate on this board about Muslims in so many threads. Comments ranging from describing them as desert born, to those claiming they are mostly rapists or ALL disrespectful to women and then those who claim they would form an Islamic state and drive us out!!. I mean come on!!! does this reflect the Canadian view on the subject? If so then my heart goes out to all those Muslims residing in Canada facing hatred and regarded as a danger or a virus every day and everywhere. But I don't think so. Not remotely. Considering that there are only slightly over one million Muslims in Canada (slightly over 3% of population) and many of them are not even religious or practicing Muslims and the fact that 4 out of every 5 newcomer is a non-Muslim, I cannot call all these comments anything but fear mongering or ignorance or bigotry. Yes you are wrong there. We need to bring in progressive people (individuals) not progressive continent. There are many other progressive people in other 4 continents too and you wish to exclude them simply because they aren't born in Europe. Smells racism or ignorance to me. And though I agree percentage-wise it is higher in Europe who can adopt best or fastest to Canada however you cannot outright exclude four/fifth of the world population based on that. And by the way there are many non-progressive people in Europe too. Many who are racist or hateful or criminal or have no respect for equality and rights of women or gays. Worse crimes against humanity in the past century were committed by Europeans (Germany in 30's and 40's, Russia, during and after Bolshevik revolution,, Serbia in the 90's ...........). And since when Argentina and Brazil having most of South America's population or Australia and New Zealand are less progressive than Latin or Eastern Europeans???!!!.

My point lost completely and what you say is the complete reverse of what I said and you quoted. I said there is no place for those who discriminate base on race and now you say we choose young Europeans!!!!!!! There are many people who also speak English or French in many other parts of the world and have education and skills to offer and are adopted to respect individual freedom and democracy and respect equality of races, religion and gender and orientation (though percentage is higher among Europeans. So although I accept we may be taking more from Europe but I don't close the door on other parts of the world based on color of skin as I think your post is indicating or suggesting to do.

Excuse of fake Weapons of mass destruction dragged the US (and idiotic Bush administration) into war with Iraq which virtually ruined that country and led to formation of ISIS and many more terrorists and Israel tried the same to lobby US into attacking Iran and sit to the side and enjoy the benefit from the destruction of another potential military rival in the region at the expense of US billions and lives but this time failed miserably as Obama was smarter than that and put the interest of US before Israel for a change, Indeed Hallelujah.

The point I was making was likely missed or may be I didn't express it clearly. Yes having skills in demand and education is great and a must but what also should be a must and essential is compatibility and adaptability. We don't wish to be swallowed by people of those cultures who may have education and skills but without respect for individual freedoms and democracy or no respect for law or those who don't believe in equality and rights regardless of race, religion, gender and orientation.

Immigration has been in general positive for Canada in many ways and I have posted about the past and present benefits previously but if Canadian government become more selective on immigrants then not only immigrants don't cost anything but they would significantly benefit the country and the nation. Those qualifying by assets must be followed up after arrival and they must open up business(s) and create jobs within certain number of year or be deported back. Those chosen based on education and skills must be selected carefully to fill up vacant positions which there is a shortage of Canadians. Adoptability must become most important criteria. Those not compatible must be kept out no matter how much the assets or skills. Those who respect democracy and equality based on race, color, religion, gender, orientation only must only be admitted. Therefore there is no place in Canada for white supremacists, Arab Sheikhs (no matter how much assets) and religious fanatics and you can guess the rest. My views anyhow.

There are different type of refugees. I was referring to economic refugees. Those who wish to flee poverty and seek better lives in Europe and North America. And there are hundreds of millions if not billions. And by the way nobody responded to my earlier post: And how do I know there are not ISIS elements hiding among those refugees disguised as refugees ready to come here and blow up people? Remember the murder and rape spree by Cuban refugees in the US? I don't wish same in Canada.
