Not so sure about, this. I think that if the West takes the refugees easy then it would create a lot more refugees in the future. Many who are in poorer countries would flee in any way they can and claim a refugee status for any possible reason they can think of. We have have 50 million likely would double in a few years time if all these 50 million are settled. And where these 50 million can go anyway without disturbing the economic and cultural balances?

I am no expert in Arab countries so I refrain from responding. I can comment about non-Arab countries like Turkey and Iran (where two-thirds of university students are female and women make a high percentage of engineers, doctors, lawyers, .....) and I can say for sure that no one husband or else can get away with murdering or raping a women just because of victim's gender. The public will not condone even if in unlikely scenario the government does.

I never said all reformers and conservatives are religious right but said there are some elements infiltrated in them. Look at what they oppose. They oppose doctor assisted suicide, abortion, consensual pay for sex between adults, gay marriage,.... These are the religious right who have influenced the progressive conservatives. Last time I heard it was a right wing government who brought in bill C51 in an undemocratic manner which took away our rights and freedom. Also it was again a conservative government who showed its contempt for the Supreme Court of Canada many times over and opposed its ruling (as an example by undemocratically imposing bill C36) not the left side of political spectrum. And by the way I am Centre Right which is far from the left side of spectrum so you made another obvious error in judgment.

I am all for humanitarian help and immigration but lets take care of our own people first. Those in the line up for housing, health care, on social programs, pensioners and who built this country unable to make ends meet,...... may not welcome more immigrants (unless we pick them based on their skills and education or assets so that they can contribute and become tax payers right away or create jobs with their wealth) especially refugees which takes years for most become productive. Adoptability should play a bigger role too. Some (not all)Immigrants from certain regions are less adoptable so we should give more points to adoptability and specially apply it to potential immigrants to those regions. As an example an Arab Sheikh may have lots of assets and over qualify but must fail on adoptability. Also 250,000 for a nation of 32 million with many of our university graduates unable to find jobs and many people in the line up for housing and health care may be too high.

I am no expert in Middle East but I know this that in 1953 in one Middle Eastern country the nation rose up for democracy and supported its nationalist prime minister to nationalize the oil industry and he was overthrown by a CIA British sponsored military coup. Another Example is Egypt's Gamal Abdel Nassar....... Appetite for democracy has always been there but the West never allowed it to happen. This undemocratic coup eventually led to a revolution 25 years later for which the hope again was for democracy. As I said I am no expert in Middle East but I find your statements hard to believe that daughters and sisters being murdered and the government would allow it to happen in more progressive countries such as Turkey, Iran, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia. I know as an example that in Iran a man was blinded last year because a year before he poured acid on the face of his girlfriend and the court ruled that he should receive a similar punishment and also another man was spared hanging (when he murdered and raped a girl) by the girl's family at the last moment while to rope was on his neck. In Turkey hundreds of thousands of people poured into streets in protests when the newly elected Islamic government tried to impose Islamic laws, including mandatory hejab. These are just few examples contradicting your claims about brutality against women in Muslim countries.

Nazi Germany and more recent Serbia were examples of religious right. Nazis pointing to Jews as Chris killers murdered some 6 million innocent people and yes many homosexuals too. Serbia murdered and raped many Muslims. In North America mainly US but Canada too religious right wishes to build a pure Christian society where religious laws are being practiced. That is correct. I am with Harper on this (one of very few things I am with him). The underlying problem of war and poverty must be addressed. ISIS's brutally is largely responsible for recent refugees so a coordinated afford to get rid of them once and for all. Considering there are 50 million refugees in the world, taking even 25000 which the liberal and NDP are promising is not going to address even the tip of problem and we should not bring more for the reasons I stated earlier.

I am concerned about bringing too many refugees from third world. Mostly lacking skills to contribute positively and have to join social programs, some could have criminal backgrounds (like Cuban refugees went on murder robbery rape spree in the US) and even some with diseases. They must be properly processed no matter how long it takes. Also concerned about the future race relations in this country. Bringing so many at once (both immigrants and especially refugees) they cannot properly absorbed and integrate. One refugee commits a crime which will get public coverage then the stereotype would start singing (as we have witness on this board they are everywhere) that all immigrants from certain parts (depending which part the criminal is from) are criminals, rapists, .....Race relations in Canada is good right now compare to Europe and most new comers join the society and integrate and contribute but start taking many at once and stop proper filtering then that could change soon and we may witness race riots like in the US and attacks and hatred for immigrants like Europe. Some if get a good number may also wish to change our way of living as our way is different with theirs and that concerns me too.

Unfortunate statistics but true. And also a good reminder to those who think it is other's people backyard which is dirty. This post is especially a reminder to those who continue to post about Muslims as how bad and anti women they are or forget about how violent their own culture is.
