Over 4000 new covid-19 cases were reported in Ontario today and increasing all because the Ontario government was too damn late to take steps to limit the spread. The restrictions don't go far enough as many activities are permitted. Too little Too late would describe it best. What we need is a total and complete lockdown for two weeks (a circuit breaker). People should be given 48 hours to do their grocery and meds and then a two week complete and total curfew, These are real people not just numbers. Very sad.

Ontario declares provincewide stay home order and third state of emergency . Better late than never. IT also appears to me that THIS FORUM IS VERY EFFECTIVE. Whenever I post something criticizing decisions made or ask for a new rule or new decision or a reversal of decision made WITHIN DAYS Ontario follows my post!!!!!!. Whether it was delaying the second dose (within 3 days after the post they followed), or More rapid vaccination of elderly or Home stay order among others. Politicians must be following this forum on a daily basis and react to it. https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/ontario-issues-stay-at-home-order-and-declares-third-state-of-emergency-1.5377410

Quieter public places and less chance of exposure to the damn virus and less opportunity for the variants to infect healthy people and less sickness and less deaths. The Premier himself said that over the weekend the shopping malls in hotspots were packed with people most just there with empty bags at the end of their shopping just for a walk. Then act upon what you preach. Close the malls and instruct law enforcement to enforced it vigorously with heavy fines. I said stay home order in hotspots like Toronto, Peel and Ottawa not an hour outside of Ottawa.

No you just make up things as you go along to defend Ontario government's incompetency, Their own model shows only stay home order will likely bring down numbers to between 1000 to 1500 by end of April. A simple shutdown that you support will cause significantly more new cases and more deaths in Ontario. Do you wish to be associated with this act?

Top doctors in Toronto, Peel Region and Ottawa are calling on the Ontario government to issue a provincewide stay-at-home order in an effort to control the surge of COVID-19 variants. https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/top-doctors-in-toronto-peel-and-ottawa-call-for-provincewide-stay-at-home-order-1.5375213 https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/etches-calls-for-ontario-to-issue-stay-at-home-order-1.5375181 Ontario health minister Christine Elliot had said (in response to critics) that stay home order will inconvenient people!!!!!. Someone should remind these incompetent people that catching Covid at the rate of 3000 a day (real people not just numbers) and death would be much more inconvenient.

This is the ultimate selfishness if that is true. Those damned people who book multiple with no shows must be prosecuted for negligence causing harm or death to others. If this is true also it is a big fault of Ontario government or booking portal. The damn system must not allow re-booking of someone who has booked already. It is easy software to check against OHIP number. Today there were 3000 people infected (and 3000 new cases past 4 days). Out of those about 30 will die regretfully. I would have been less than 300 new infections with nobody dying if everyone was vaccinated. But not enough vaccines going around. Those who multiple book deprive others of getting life saving vaccines. It is a crime.

The CEO of a B.C. biotechnology company says the treatment his firm has developed for COVID-19 is sitting on shelves while people continue to die, despite it being approved for use by Health Canada in the fall. "Canada was quick to authorize it. The federal government moved quickly to procure it. So we signed a procurement agreement and bought doses back in November But because of some decisions that happened at the provincial and territorial level, through committees that are making decisions on recommendations of use, thus far this treatment has been used in almost no one in Canada. The U.S. FDA approved it for use in patients 12 years of age and older who have tested positive for COVID-19 and who display mild to moderate symptoms but are at risk of progressing to a more serious form of the illness. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/abcellera-bamlanivimab-carl-hansen-kapelos-1.5974126 If there is no sufficient data then why FDA and Health Canada approved the treatment? Why they didn't conditionally approve it while monitoring the data like US did? Do we have too many governments and decision making bodies in Canada?, Too much of costly bureaucracies and duplications and hence higher taxes and more waiting times for things to be done in Canada?.

News just in. The Ontario government is imposing a province-wide "emergency brake" starting Saturday, but stopped short of a stay-at-home order, despite modelling showing such a measure could significantly curb the surge in COVID-19 case numbers and hospitalizations. We have incompetent people running this province who as the thread title says care about the economy more than the lives and safety of Ontarians. Always too little too late.

They have not been decisive and always act too little and too late. They are always one step behind instead of being one step ahead. They start acting when the virus has widely spread in the province. Modelling shows with a month of lockdown, the number of new daily infections will slow to between 1000 to 1500 whereas by the end of April and without lockdown it will go up to 6000 by the end of April. Last lockdown worked and this one will work too. They should have done it sooner though.

Ontario is sinking in covid and these officials are always too damn late to act and hence not only Ontario fails to avoid wave after wave but it always hit worst and have a more prolong closures and lockdowns because Ontario government is always one step behind and do not act decisively and timely. LOCKDOWN NOW ONTARIO in hotspots.
-
Yes but they should lock down many hotspots in Ontario like Toronto, Ottawa and Peel immediately. What are they waiting for? More deaths or thousands more sick people or flooded hospitals and ICUs? We are already there. Lockdown now for a short time till vaccine rollout hits venerable segment of population.
-
Yes these so called experts screwed up real bad. They lost my confidence long time ago and likely now they have lost public confidence as every day they advise something differently contradicting their own previous advice. Take NACI for example, Last month they advised AstraZeneca should not be used on people age 65 and older and then they said it is okay for 65 or older and now they say AstraZeneca should not be used on people 55 or younger. What the hell!!!!!!

Time to lockdown again for a short period of time till venerable population is vaccinated. DO IT NOW!!!! A new briefing note from a panel of science experts advising the Ontario government on COVID-19 shows a province at a tipping point. Variants that are more deadly are circulating widely, new daily infections have reached the same number at the height of the second wave, and the number of people hospitalized is now more than 20 per cent higher than at the start of the last provincewide lockdown, states an analysis from Ontario's COVID-19 science advisory table. "Right now in Ontario, the pandemic is completely out of control. https://www.ontario.ca/page/how-ontario-is-responding-covid-19?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1P7H-d_16QIVkonICh2T-QjFEAAYASABEgLCB_D_BwE#section-0

The answer in my view is YES. They ended the lockdown too soon and now that the number of new cases is rapidly increasing they refuse to go back into lockdown in fact they have relaxed restrictions past week. Some cities like Toronto and Ottawa are reporting rapid growth in new cases past few days. Lockdown is needed more than any other time since Eastern holidays is coming in a few days and we all remember what happened the last time we had a (Christmas) break.

We need to bring back capital punishment in Canada. Mulroney majority government blew it real bad as they stood a chance to do the right thing for Canada but like his other policies (almost all except free trade) he failed. -
That is why in all my posts related to immigration I clearly say again and again that we have to adopt selectivity as the main criteria. I have been against regional ban very strongly in all my posts. First off there are many in so called Muslim countries who are no longer Muslims or practicing Muslims like Iran at the top of the list but other countries too and second as you said there maybe some Muslims who still may believe in equality and respect for women though in my view their percentage is very low. but that is just my opinion. Yes I am center tight in my beliefs definitely not left. If you read all of my posts (not just those supporting Trudeau and liberal government) my posts sometimes have tendency to be very right wing sometimes, like strong support for capital punishment and restrictions on immigration and selectivity of immigrants.
-
I certainly don't like or support the internal dirt and I believe there should be stronger laws to protect women and minorities but what I said was that just because we have these issues here already doesn't justify bringing in even more and make the problem worse. I never said I am liberal. Other posters have labeled me as liberal. As I have mentioned I am against liberal government's immigration policy of take everyone. I have said again and again that immigration numbers must be cut in half and Canada should be much more selective to bring in those with compatible cultures adopted by most Canadians which is respect for women and other religions and believing in equality and human rights. This is not racism but maybe nationalism a bit as I did not say to exclude colored people or exclude regions. I am surprised you accused me of racism!!!!!!!
