Former CNN anchor gets a promotion
crazymf replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I wasn't trying to bash Fox. It was merely an observation that I found strange at the time. Also, I'm not willing to argue the point. It doesn't matter. Merely conversation. -
http://www.wlbt.com/ A link to helo coverage. Unreal.

Former CNN anchor gets a promotion
crazymf replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I was watching both Fox and CNN the day the plane went down in Toronto. The very SECOND that it was announced there were no fatalities, Fox dropped it like a hot potato. Death and destruction must be in that order for them to report it I guess. Bill Hemmers real name is Rick Squarejaw, really. -
Pat Robertson Calls For Chavez To Die

Didn't work when I said that to you a while back. Times change I guess. hehe -
The website is a joke. Never heard of the Western Bloc Party before now and probably won't think of it again after now. Out.

I think you hit the nail on the head with regards to this one. You didn't understand what BD was talking about, so instead of asking for clarification, you decided to imply that it was incomprehensible (complete with keyboard spam! ASHG!#$%). Given that, merely telling you to grow up seems overly polite of BD in my opinion. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Assumptions are usually wrong.
-
The way I see it, a playground attack might be any comment that someone may not understand in the context it was meant to be given. BD regularly calls me names such as 'creep' and comments things like 'grow up'. That just tells me he/she doesn't have much of a sense of humor, that's all. Of course, insults are the ammunition of the unintelligent. It says so in the guidelines. Certain playground attacks are a very simple way to insert a complicated comment that may be well above the comprehension of the intended victim, without insult or injury.
-
I suppose its easier to throw out BS like this than to actually try to address or understand BD's post. Sadly, you'd rather make playground level attacks on it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What is a playground level attack exactly?

Yeah, I saw the Blue Angels in Yakima a few years ago. They were doing an airshow on the weekend and were doing passes over town during lunch hour on the Wednesday. Watching them haul *ss and doing power turns about 300 feet up was pretty incredible. What a bunch of hot dogs!!

Sometimes it's not what you say, but how you say it. I got my point across. I got yelled at, but the laugh was worth it.
-
I don't really think that's called for. You don't even know me. That is an uncharactaristic post for you mirror. If your attitude reflects what eastern Canada thinks of us, perhaps we should do something toward restructuring the country. Until then, we are all Canadian.

Alberta: We're Coming To Get Your Money
crazymf replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Knock knock Ottawa. Wakey wakey!!! If this gets perceived as a shakedown or money grab, I can see the separatists gaining ground in the hearts and minds of westerners. If Alberta can offer more to the 4 western provinces than Ottawa can, what's holding us back? Quebec can eat Ontario for breakfast for all we would care. However, I don't know the source of the article. I'm sure there's much more to it than what he says. -
Todd Cameron Smith escapes from Halfway house
crazymf replied to crazymf's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
How do you determine if proper evidence procedures and due process have been followed? If the conviction is handed down, the court has already decided that the rules have been followed sufficiently. So in a sense, what you ask for as "proper evidence and due process" already exists, yet still tends to be wrong a rather alarming amount of the time. The problem with capital punishment is not that the system isn't perfect, its that it isn't even reliable. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> OK then. Let's just let them back out on the street. Oh wait, it's already happening!! There's always a 'what if'. That's what grey/grey liberals will always get hung up on. What I am saying is that due process must involve competence in handling the cases, not the gross misjudgements and corruption illustrated by the US system, where prejudices overrun common sense. There must be checks and balances and fail safe devices before someone is sentenced to death. It can never become routine. After that, hang the mother and get on to the next one. -
You can't get charged for treason for flying a state flag. You could be convicted of obnoxiousness, though... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You already have, a few times. That's why I like you so much.

For all you liberals who crap on the states regularly, why are you now using USA information and quotes to support your argument? Conflict of morality??? Their system looks plenty corrupt, which maybe is another argument against the death sentence. For those convicted with the above situations, I'd say the system is at fault. There still is a place for the death penalty, with the proper evidence and due process. -

BD, that's the fundamental difference of opinion that you and I share. You distrust government and generally all institutions by your own words. I just think the death penalty would be suitable and I'd like the government to do it because they'd spend a heck of a lot more capital making sure they got the right guy than me if I did it. -
I used to fly the flag on my pole in front of my business. After 2 years it started to get a bit tattered and some idiot gets me on the phone and rants and raves about defacing Canadian pride and what kind of idiot am I etc. Must have been some liberal know it all. Anyway, all it got me was no flag on the pole. Canadian eh? I'm going to replace it with the Republic of Western Canada flag, which isn't a real state, so I can't get charged with treason.

Chill buddy, I'm grown. Laugh and get on with your day. Life is good.

But it happens all the time. Some of the names above were simply a case of people being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Besides the persumption that if someone is convicted of a crime, they must be guilty of something is a perversion of the principle of presumed innocence that is the foundation of our justice system. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah. I'm not going to say that. I just want the death penalty to be an option when it warrants. Surely you agree some people are unredeemable and it would be adequate for them. -

Only if the right person is convicted of the offense. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damn, that's a double whammy. I never thought of that. That is a consideration. That's why the death penalty must have irrefutable proof such as dna, confession and smoking gun and maybe video evidence. -
I suppose I could tell you something about how people traditionally marginalized and repressed because of their identities use the assertion of that identity as a means of standing up to repression and marginalization. That's why all the breats beating by straight white males about the double-standard in identity politics rings so hollow: for all intents and purposes, straight white males still run the world. I've no doubt that some straight white males are oppressed: but I would challenge the notion that they are victims of "reverse discrimination" or some such. In such cases, the root of th eproblem is class and economics, not race, gender or sexual orientation. In other words, the people who claim that gays, women, immigrants and what have you are the source of all their ills are barking up the wrong tree. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> HAHAHA LMAO!!!! BD, sometimes when you talk, it looks like this.... njvfieohjuewohvjewojfdsfwfhbeovheovjewvjvjwiu hfuijnvjiorh3uivo3jivnjfssdfjulio3eujivo 3jvojfio3vjfio3vjo3jh78678t7fesdavfo3jfov3jovo3 Are you bored at work or something? You sampling again? That's good, (traditionally marginalized and repressed). Sorry, my weird sense of humor again, carry on....

Go for it. There's 35 million people in Canada<>? What's your chance of being wrongly convicted of a capital offence? Nil, providing you are a law abiding citizen. You have some say in who your friends are and an ultimate choice of your activities. The point is I'm not sure people get merely taken from the street and randomly sentenced to death mistakenly. Parolled offenders can and do kill innocent people. That's the difference. The chance of either is slim though. Testimony to that is that most of us are still here. -
Americans don't complain, because no one else exists to them, just themselves.

crazymf replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Well that was my query. Where is the line? Guys like Howard Stern insult people regularly. -
Yeah, no kidding. Just look at how the MP's debate stuff in parliament. However, when you're not face to face, the facial and language nuances and inflections aren't there. Too easy to misinterpret stuff for the worst.
