Right. And I agree with every step. That would make our provinces into states with autonomy similar to our neighbors. Then we could rehash the federal scene or even amalgamate with the rest of our continent, including Mexico, which I think will happen one day anyway.

The invasion begins...
crazymf replied to I Miss Trudeau's topic in Canada / United States Relations
This whole thread is irrelevant. The Americans already control Canada in every way. We are like an ant colony on the presidents desk trying to assert ourselves. Get real. The saying is true; If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. -
Is Calgary or Edmonton Better Place to Live?
crazymf replied to Chamuel's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
You can do better than that. I understand how much of this kind of thing is personal preference. Mine just happen to be for communities that have strong sense of identity and direction, vibrant culture and a positive atmosphere. Alberta's city's are prety bereft of ant of thos ethings IMO. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And way too conservative for your anarchistic liberal ways...hehe. Face it you belong and deserve to be out east. It's written all over your posts. You must be one of those eastern bums Ralph was referring to a few years back?? -
Is Vancouver Better Place than Calgary?
crazymf replied to Chamuel's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Vancouver is crawling with people. Way too busy for me. And the Fraser valley smells like crap most of the time because there's an overabundance of dairy farms and too much cow crap for the fields to absorb. -
Is Calgary or Edmonton Better Place to Live?
crazymf replied to Chamuel's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I live near Edmonton. If you need directions to Calgary from here you just go south til you smell it and then west til you step in it... Just kidding of course, but there is a healthy rivalry going and Calgary is closer by 2 hours to the mountains although I believe the cost of living is higher there. -
On Tom Delay: Where there's smoke, there's fire. I live with the premise that all politicians are crooked people who use public resources to line their own pockets. The bottom line is how well they cover their butts. In the end, if they do more good than bad, what more can we expect? With politicians, the end really does justify the means because the history books have a way of judging after the fact only when the full impact of their actions have been felt and analyzed. That's also why GW can't be crucified right now.

Drugs: Decriminalization vs. Legalization
crazymf replied to theloniusfleabag's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hey dudes, I just got back from a 3 week bike trip down into New Mexico, Texas, Tennessee and back. Got chased out by Rita. Had a lot of fun. Miss me? No? Oh well..... Within reason, yes. Anything to blatant excess, no. However, as all taxpayers cover the rehab already, I'm not sure drugs shouldn't be taxed somehow. Maybe some or all drugs should be controlled by the government. Until then, they are illegal. I live with that. -
But to compare Katrina and Monica is tough, except to say they both blew. REALLY REALLY HARD. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And Katrina took the house when she left....

The love and care shown by parents toward their children is way more important than the gender of each parent. Having opposite gender parents gives a child no more chance of having proper role models than does having same-sex parents. In some ways the child is better off because they are raised in a more tolerant environment. I fail to see how this is an erosion of society. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You fail to see how not having a father and a mother is an erosion of society? Men and women are 2 essential parts of society. If you take either of them away totally, there will be no society. Condoning life where one or the other gender is absent is absurd. It's not natural or normal. I correct myself slightly. Unfortunately, single parent homes are becoming normal. I don't agree with either gay marriage or divorce/separation. In the case of a deceased spouse, the living spouse has a bad situation to deal with but not by choice.

Yes, unlike a twister, when local help is in the next town, this hurricane wiped out all the local towns, so it becomes of a proportion I termed epic, whatever. My point is that local authorities normally take the slack until federal response becomes available. That part of the equation was missing so there was a void until normal federal response was on site. People can always find mistakes if they're looking for them, usually in hindsight when it's easy to second guess someone. I'm not listening too much to those complaints.

The government is responwsible because 5 of the top 8 men in FEMA were political appointees who knew nothing about disaster managment, for screwing up its response, and for slashing funds meant to reinforce and upgrade flood protection. Is that hard to understand? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No it's not hard to understand how a lot of people jump on the political bandwagon against the government at a time like this. It just doesn't make sense to me why. It'a counterproductive. There's pork all over the place in every government, including soft appointments. Tell me the next government won't be turfed if there's a meteor strike in Alaska and it's found that they weren't totally prepared for it.
-
This is rediculous. Let me get this straight.... the government is to blame for responding slower than lightning speed for a natural disaster of epic proportions? Imagine the opposition to the government if they decided that everyone should move away from the area and deem it unsafe to live in. With a history of recurring natural disasters, it would be the prudent thing to do. Throwing good money after bad. But no, they'll rebuild it. That's the insane part. The people seem to want it both ways and the government cannot win, but instead must be led around by the nose ring.

A kid needs a father and a mother. In a home where one is missing, the kid has to find a role model outside the home or will miss the vital influence of that parent. It's can't be good for a child in either case whether it's 2 queers for parents or one parent is missing or otherwise incapable of fulfilling the role model status. To me, it downgrades our society and leads people to more inner confusion about themselves and their role. And yes, I'm conservative and feel both a man and a woman, father and mother, should have distinct equal roles in society. I place gay marriage as dysfunctional as a broken marriage. That's why I'm against it, because the government basically condones an erosion of it's own society. Just my 2c.

Not to mention that Bin Laden is good press, keeping the spirit well motivated at home. I'll make a prediction that Bin Laden will be caught at a time of strategic political importance. I know that's vague, but not really if you think about it. Either the CIA has him stashed or is actually still funding him, using him as a political figurehead so the USA can go after the really bad guys that are not publicised. Ok, back to the facts, hehe.

The insanity of this War!
crazymf replied to Frank Weed's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
BD, not this again....... Just think about the alcohol consumed compared to the dope smoked. Now think about how much more dope would be smoked if it were legal and widely accepted in all social circles. The lung problems would take over from the liver problems perhaps, so please quit comparing the two. It's two separate subjects. Why don't you compare dope smoking to cigarettes and all those health problems instead? That's a comparison. -
Hurricane Katrina Fallout Hurts Bush
crazymf replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I have to wonder about anybody that immediately uses a natural disaster for political gain. The wind was still blowing when the anti Bush hollering started. What a bunch..... -
Why Has Greg Abdicated His Responsibilities
crazymf replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This poll sucks because it presumes that Greg is doing something wrong, so I'm not voting. It's a 'troll poll'. -
Good question, however, since I have lived most of my life in the west I could hardly go 'back' east. I am sure there are lot of people out there like me. That is why separation is a dumb option - too many people with too many different opinions. The status quo is not ideal but it is ensures stability. Change to the federation will happen - it just takes time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was a tongue in cheek query obviously, but reflective of the fact that BC doesn't seem to have the western sentiment quite as much as the rest of us. As a matter of fact, I would suspect a great portion of Bc'ers, being fixed income retirees, wouldn't want any separation as it may disrupt their cushy lifestyle for longer than they have left on the planet. I can understand that attitude.

Sparhawk, Where would you go? You're on the wrong side of the mountains if the west goes. Would you move back east???

Former CNN anchor gets a promotion
crazymf replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I'm sure Bush is behind this. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ultimately he does lead the big country right next door that our entire social structure and economy hinges on, so yes, I agree, in principle. -
Former CNN anchor gets a promotion
crazymf replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I'd like to bring Bell satellite in on this. As of a couple days ago, I no longer receive Fox because the service I was paying for has been changed without my consent.. So, to add to the conspiracy, Bell must be in cahoots with CNN to only bring one perspective into my livingroom. -
The ugly hate-filled Left
crazymf replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Ahem!!!! The radical lefties scrapping with the radical righties. Deadlocked in mortal combat, while nothing productive gets done at all. Waste of time folks. -
Blah blah blah. The levees this and the government that. What about the fact that nobody thinks it's strange that a whole city on the ocean is below sea level? DUHH!!! How did that come to be in the first place?? http://americanradioworks.publicradio.org/...hurricane1.html http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/re...ch/1282151.html
