Opposition want to make election about Harper.
no1ninja replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Right, and look where your country is now. Banksters paradise. Is Nixon still cool, doown there? Seems odd that we were so harsh to him back then, in current times he could get away with much more. He would be a patriot of the highest order. That kind of journalism now, gets you into the stockade. It would be treasonous for a reporter now to do such damage to the office of the president. In the communication age, there would be a warrant to question him at every airport. -
LOL, point taken. I just find that sometimes what passes as leadership get unfairly catagorized with what passes for masculinity. So I kind of wanted to touch on the subject.

Who was right? It may have taken a while, but how did that war go? Was it a good idea? What did it do for the American image all over the world. hmm, maybe those long hairs had a point. -

Only an imbecile would vote for a party that suspended Canadian rights so that PM can show off to his elite buddies. There is no bigger issue than this. "The Police State Conservatives" need to be voted out. -

So being misinformed is okay? Now that the 5th estate and many others have shown what actually happened, and that the people there were not "morons" but peaceful activists, retirees and the incapacitated, it's okay to forget that the POLICE ABUSED the public. ...because well, most Canadians were too busy watching "Dancing with the Stars". It's sad that your main point is, that perception is more important than truth. That is Harper in a nutshell. (Those people in Kent state were a bunch of long haired hippies who deserved to be shot, most Americans hated long hairs. How did that turn out? How dare anyone hate the Vietnam war, we know they are all pot smokers, nothing useful will come of them. Right?) When will Harper's government recognize that ALL Canadians have a right to express their opinion, not just the elites? (Protesting is dumb, right? Only morons do it? Conservative party is a joke with sentiments like these. It should be changed to "The Police State Party".) These morons will never get my vote becaue of the G20... AS LONG AS I LIVE! I will always remember, and remind those who don't. -
Alert me when we get to Saudi Arabian Gender Apartheid Week
no1ninja replied to jbg's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Here is a BBC documentary on the subject. http://www.realnews247.com/bbc_rachel_corrie_report.htm An Isreli sniper shooting a british man in the head for picking up a child that was in the line of fire. The Isreli government then sending the family $12,000 to pay for funeral expenses, and the government check bounces with "insuficient funds". Attacking a a flotilla with food aid, with your comandos. ...you can't make this shit up. Someone needs to take responsibility for their own image. (and what is worse, I did not want to read this post on a Canadian politics forum, you brought it up with an attempt to create propaganda, and it has backfired in your face, because no matter how much you repeat bullshit, people with common sense can recognize the truth.) -

I want to call you on your bullshit. Because I doubt you have ever travelled to the west bank and probably do not realize how difficult it is to travel within the occupied regions. You need papers and can be denied passage at a moments notice. It's been already admitted that it is in part a policy to demoralize the enemy and a way to apply punitive measures on the region. As far as this conflict goes, I think both sides have acted inappropriately. I don't think there is anything cool about marching kids out with fake plastic explosive vests. Kids do not hate, they need to be taught to. ...but just because Israel is isolated in its stance does not mean that all criticism levied against it is undeserved. It takes two to have a conflict. -
Harper's 16 Billion Dollar Fighter Jet Purchase Plan

I wasn't saying that we should get MiG's, just making fun of the volume discount of the f35s. If we tripled or quadrupled our order, we could sell them to countries that could not afford to do so hence further reducing our margin. Canada maybe can do some "chopping" on the global corner, LOL. To support its habit. --- "Yo yo yo, I got these f35's man, I got the best deal.." "bro, I can get them from the source for much cheaper" (minutes later) "Yo what the hell, I thought you said the more I buy the smaller the development costs, but Angola just told us they can get a few units for cheaper than we got in volume." "Bro, its the times, the development costs have been already paid for. Thanks." -
I sometimes wonder now that some of you are making a big deal out of her love life, if we are being fair in this regard. She is allowed to be a woman, I would imagine we do not have problems with showing femininity in office, its the 21st century. We don't need to “Reno”fy our female politicians. Most women I know tend to approach love emotionally. Guys are very reserved and do not let their emotions show in this regard, at least not if you want to avoid being called a "flake". However, tons of politicians have succumbed to the male perspective of dealing with sex, whether it is Clinton, Kennedy, Busconi and to a small degree Trudeau. I mean these guys had sex lives that some would argue got in the way of running the country. The other thing about her insulting Chrétien’s face. LOL. I bet you Chretien never laughed so hard. That SOB was one tough mofo, his feelings were not hurt. Chances are he called Campbell all sorts of nasty things in private. I mean it wasn't exactly cordial between them, so her loosing her grip on emotions probably made Chrétien kick back with a cigar and a glass of scotch. The only thing hurt by that remark was Campbell’s image. After watching her on Real Time, I like her as person. I like to see some personality and humanity in my politicians. She definitely had that, but it can be a vice in moments of preasure/heat. (oh and Wilber, I apreaciate your story too)

I have a bit of a problem with this. I understand your point and pedophilia is horrid. However, a good lawyer would understand that it is in the best interest of the public (and children) that EVERY defendant receive a proper defense. Regardless how horrid the charge. With these sorts of stances, one can question why someone is defending a Muslim while being a parishioner of certain church. Why does a lawyer represent homosexuals. The law is the law, and it has to be fair to all... even the most heinous amongst us. Without that we are no different than parts of Afghanistan, where the law is applied based on personal convictions. In a case like this I would want the best lawyer representing such an individual. I would also like the punshiment to be extremely severe. This kind of crime is like killing an entire family. -
Being interested in love is too human for a politician... they need reptilian blood. (I am being facetious, I don't want to slag her for her love life, but I honestly don't know enough to make a judgment. Other than to question the standard we want in our politicians, and the degree of humanity that they are allowed to express.)

Union Busting in Wisconsin
no1ninja replied to Jonsa's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
If we are going to abolish all laws of competition for corporations... lets abolish all laws for workers. Let the Indian and Chinese worker who makes 400 bucks a month, come to the US, Canada, Germany. Lets open the flood gates for people just like we opened the flood gates for corporations on the world stage. (if we are going to leave it to capitalism, let the workers have the same capitalistic opportunities to move, this way the system works fairly - investment in poor areas and slums, will make those who get exploited there sell their services on the broader market. You educate the Chinese worker, suddenly he can get himself a job in Geneva, and you need to train a new one. Fair is fair.) It's nice wanting the freedom to do business anywhere you want, but not allowing your worker the same freedom only serves one side of the equation. Do you guys know that even a Chinese worker needs papers to work in Beijing. That is right, even in their own country, rural migrants are not allowed to seek jobs in cities without permits. The control on the right side of the equation does not match the control on the left. This is why corporations are having the bonanza. They have the $$ to bribe favourable trade laws for themselves. The migrant worker does not. So if you guys want to bust the regulations on one side, bust them on the other. Lets do away with borders. Why are corps getting all the benefits of globalism while we get stuck with the loans and paying a greater share for services? -
Union Busting in Wisconsin
no1ninja replied to Jonsa's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
This is absolutely true. However, I don't mind paying 1500 bucks for my laptop instead of 399, as long as I have the same job I had when we were actually paying our workers for having a hand in designing them. Price is relative, to your employment opportunities. You can dangle something really cheap, but if none of the costs of the product go into paying for workers in the economy, schools, roads and services... then eventually you get what you have in the USA. The gap keeps increasing. The rich there are building up China and looting their middle class. Simple rule would be that if a product does not meet our labour or environmental standards, it can't be sold on our shelves. Seriously, why would you want to hire an Engineer in the US if you can get the same engineering in China for $400 a month? How is education going to help this, when corporations there have freedom to go anywhere they want and people don't. As a person, you are balled and chained to the house you bought to do your bid to spur the economy. ...and the best part was, that when all this was happening, the prescription was to tell the union worker to SPEND, SPEND, wrack up those credit cards, boost our economy. Show how patriotic you are. The money that goes into union hands actually gets circulated in the LOCAL economy. The money earned by the corps does not stay in the country... the interest rates are too low. You either use it, or lose it. So the drain is not from the consumer who is spending his ducets, it is from the corporation who IS NOT. (at least not on their home comsumer soil) (they want to make money from the consumer, but prefer to employ the slave - it's called "having your cake and eating it too") -

Can't really say anything bad about him... that is usually a good sign for a politician. -
Holy smokes, memory like an elephant. You don't forgive or forget. She is out of politics now. I did not like her much when she was in power, but as a Canadian I am proud of her and her success. She seems like an interesting person that I would love to have over for dinner regardless of her politics. The nice thing about us canucks, is that we can always switch our arguments from politics to hockey and even to beer.

I don't understand why these jails are badly needed? To go after pot heads? Wasn't there a study that showed that with adherence to bill C10 the female prison population would increase by 225%. (We are not talking 5-10%, which in itself would rise the costs) With bill c10, every 3rd person in BC is a criminal. I don't know about you guys, but being Canadian and going through university I have seen more than one friends grow up. LOL, all of them had more than 5 plants and none of them I considered criminals that should be locked up on our dime. These were engineering students, compsci and folks that would help you change your tire if you were stranded. Sorry people, I just think pot laws are so Nixon. I honestly don't know who is going to pay for this. One of the things I liked about Canada is that we weren't such losers when it came to drugs like our friends to the south. I just don't get why the conservatives are so intent on mandating US policies in Canada. -
Damn, she killed it on that show! She started out slow, but was the guest with the most insight. Made me proud.

What you say is correct, but fundraising and propensity to do what is best for the corporate sector has always been a conservative trait. I am from Ontario, so I remember such great conservatives like Mike Harris, who tried to sell as many public assets to their crony buddies as they could, even when the public was against it. The 407 for instance got leased at 3.1 Billion for 99 years. The tax payer paid close to 100 Billion for that land. We also signed a clause that prohibits us from building a competing highway during that lease. Ontario Hydro was another company that was heavily leverage by the tax payer and sold for pennies on the dollar. Skydome anyone? Built for 600million, large share of it tax money, and sold to Rogers for 25 million. It's funny, Conservatives have no problems selling utilities and roads, but for some reason no one wants to buy Canada Post. Liberals are at least about country building, not corporation building. How is Mike Harris doing anyway? Didn't he land a cushy corporate chair? for 600K a year? I always wonder why such great minds go into politics for, when they can make such outrageous sums in the private sector at the ripe age of 64? (Economic slow down? ...not for some.) http://www.thestar.com/Business/article/611494

The money the liberals took from corps was tribute money! Chretien was heard saying privately, "Pay up bitches, there is an new sheriff in town!". The conservatives get it for being cronies. (Sorry, even I know, that the biggest rip offs in this country’s history of the public are under PC leadership.)

Harper To Make Make a Cameo on Murdoch Mysteries
no1ninja replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
While they have him in there, they should throw in a flashback of a police man that is tormented by his brutality to citizens in a peaceful protest. (Just helping out his acting... he may win an award with such drama.) (somewhere out there a struggling actor looking for work saying "WTF?!") -
The key word in this title is politician. Liberal or Conservative, they all need to be watched by the public. Supporting a party does not automatically give you a halo and wings.

George Carlin disagrees with you. (around the 2:10 mark) (Not arguing with you just trying to bring you a smile.)

Harper's 16 Billion Dollar Fighter Jet Purchase Plan
no1ninja replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
LOL, so we should double the order! If they get that much cheaper, I say we get 10X as many. Maybe we can make some money selling them to other countries who can't buy them in bulk. This might be a good investment opportunity for the country. We can be like the French, sell to anyone who can afford them. (I hope my sarcasm is evident. Silly wabbits, who quoted the per plane cost in the first place? Perhaps someone who was not entirely honest of true costs? A pitch man?) -
No... So the finger pointing starts here. If we do it fast enough, its not ones fault (becasue we keep it in transition).
