  1. Scotland should be through. After playing ridiculously well, they are wrongly penalized and lose the game. Sickening.
  2. Ireland were pulverized by the Argentinians. Only Luke Fitzgerald distinguished himself. They went wide quickly and broke through repeatedly on the wings. The SH forwards are leaner and faster this time and Argentina must be one of the most improved sides. I saw that they had beaten the predicted spread by the biggest aggregate point margin in the tournament. NZ look unstoppable but Oz will have to play well to make it to the final.
  3. Because he is managing a much bigger business and may be looking at material that would one like to keep as confidential as possible in a little comfort. Your boss chooses to travel that way. Imagine forcing Oliver or poor old Flaherty to do that.
  4. From 2 to 20 to 12 before disappearing entirely. Their vote share was actually lower with twelve seats than with two. The joys of FPTP. The combined right wing vote was something like 34% in 1993. Trudeau had name recognition but his achievement remains impressive by any standard. The importance of temperament seems to be underestimated here.
  5. Any do's and don'ts in the prediction business? Many of the polls were quite different from what you came up with.
  6. Thank you for trying to help me. Certainly, there are more female Premiers these days.
  7. So where are the female PMs in the last twenty years in Canada?
  8. It's not just about policy. Justin's got the perfect family photos. Kenney doesn't. Raitt and Wall don't speak French AFAIK. Leitch sounds weird. Women have a harder time as leaders. Just to argue with myself here, I think Raitt sounds reasonable if she could be taught a bit of franglais. Kenney is excellent, too. I'm surprised Moore bowed out because, like O'Toole, he's one of the least annoying Conservatives going and has wider appeal. Another possibility would be Rempel who is an excellent debater.
  9. Give us a poll to answer.
  10. All praise to the clever clogs who predicted a Liberal majority. I did not see that coming.
  11. It was grotesque and distasteful.
  12. Is this the most impressive federal election victory in living memory?
  13. My brief career as a Jack Harris impersonator would appear to be over.
  14. FPTP Is terrible. We can agree on that.
  15. Jack Harris is an excellent MP. That's a big surprise.
  16. Do swingometers work in Canada as reliably as the in UK? We get a much more regional return here obviously.
  17. We could see some tricky legal issues down the road with terrorism convictions in different countries. What about those bombs in Tehran, and many in Lebanon over the years, for starters. What would happen if one those guys was convicted? Wehave also seen questions over Canadian passports already with Mossad assassinations e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lillehammer_affair
  18. Only one was convicted because of a massive criminal conspiracy, the people at the heart of which being openly celebrated as heroes to this day.Has any effort been made to examine the applications for citizenship made by these people to ensure no links with terrorist organizations were falsely denied? It is striking that such people have not even been mentioned by the Conservatives.
  19. I don't agree with taking citizenship away. These people are our problem. however, if we were to do it, you would think that the lads at the top of any list for citizenship stripping would be the Air India bombers. Thirty years of justice denied - to say nothing of the intimidation handed out to so many - Has no parallel in recent Canadian history. So how come none of those guys got letters yet? Why aren't we hearing fiery speeches about THAT problem from Jason and his Aggronauts? Demographics would surely not be clouding the famous moral clarity of the Conservative Party?
  20. The best thing about STV - you can get get rid of tools in your own party. No sitting MP can be too cocky.
  21. Vancouver King, wrt your correct observation of a Liberal majority, are you from the future by any chance?
  22. FPTP is fun if you don't care about the result. A party's prospects can suddenly rise, like the BQ, when it reaches the threshold.
  23. Thanks. Do you have a link for that?
  24. Campaign stops: Harper 104 Mulcair 109 Trudeau 134 Party leaders are extraordinary people even when they don't look that fit. I am impressed Harper and Mulcair were able to keep going so well. Harper is not in great physical shape BMI-wise but actually looks a bit slimmer now. Mulcair looks tired and Trudeau's voice is beginning to go. A longer campaign was always likely to favour the young fellow in the energy stakes at least. On one visit to Grouse Mountain, Justin left the journos panting in his wake as he bounded upwards. What is striking is how they all kept plugging away across this vast land with little obvious outward signs of mental collapse. And May too of course. A race well run right to the end. Duceppe had an easier time of it.
  25. The pic of pothater Harper cuddling the Fords says it all, doesn't it? Desperate times...
