When I started this post I was thinking more in terms of Allah. Off the top of my head I can think of Muslims compaining publically about: Chocolate Swirls on top of ice cream which offend Allah (they were successful in getting it banned, by the way) Sex blow up dolls named mustafa shag that offend Allah (kind of Ironic - the "blow up" doll part donchta think?) Soccer jerseys that offend Allah Opinion columns that offend Muslims The English Flag no longer flown at prisons because they offend Allah Danish Cartoons that offend Allah Documentary films that offend Allah (by the way - the filmmaker was assasinated by a Danish Muslim) Since when does anyone have the right to immigrate (by choice) into a free society and start demanding that people NOT OFFEND them (or Allah) and then commit atrocious acts of rioting, murder and violence to enforce their demands? Isn't that a bit presumptuous? Again I will point out: it is obvious that certain Islamic folks (perhaps not all) have studied the nuances of our "tolerance" very well and know how to take advantage of it. In fact - during the arrests of the boys who plotted to behead our Prime minister, I read that a suggested tactic by radicals who find themselves under arrest is to complain of abuse by police - sure enough that's what we saw and continue to see. They are very cunning in recognizing what works and doesn' to get what they want in our society.

I places like Canada an the US, where the assault on our core values hasn't been as severe (yet), isn't it good to be talking about these things now, rather than when it's too late (as it is in Europe)? Too many in our society are convinced things will "always be as they are now", when really the idea of American style freedom and democracy are starting to look more and more like a 100 year window of freedom sandwiched into centuries of horribleness on both sides.

What do I want? Context. This is a dialogue that should be had within a multiculti nation. Sure - one Muslim who kills his daughter in and of itself is not huge. But if you look overseas in Europe, arguably a similar model to Canada but further along on the immigration train (ie. possibly a look into our future), you can see alot more honour killings happening. If we are going to finance lavish social programs by the mass-importing of people of different cultures and beliefs, perhaps we should all consider the longer term implications of such a strategy - particularly when our stated government policy (multiculturalism) explicitly discourages integration and common values. Are we importing new valus we all disagree with? If the Canadian Islamic Congress can, through the use of Human Rights Tribunals outwardly oppose and try to squash one of our most fundamental freedoms: FREEDOM OF SPEECH, then how far are we from acceptnig Sharia Law? This isn't that far from reality already in some democracies. Is Canada that different from Australia? Because over there, Police have been instructed to ignore cases of Muslim domestic violence due to "cultral habits and traditions". Sure - these countries aren't Canada, but it's important that people like myself, ScottSA and others speak out so that this kind of ridiculousness doesn't creep it's way into Canada under the guise of "progressiveness".

Can we get back to the topic here? Look at what the last couple of posts have addressed. Do you see what lefties are spectacularly good at? CHANGING THE SUBJECT. DEFLECT DEFLECT DEFLECT. Divert the focus to evil CHRISTIANS. Muslims all over the world kill and abuse women based upon religion. It's a cultural problem within Islam, and now it's ben imported to Toronto, Canada. Is this something we, as a society, are willing to accept in the name of cultural / religious "tolerance"? The reason Islamic groups reckslessly throw around the words "intolerance" or "racism" is because they have studied our society well, and understand that this is a hot button that will gain them some strong footing to maintain THEIR values and push us around. Are we going to cowtow to this? This is the issue. Address it. Don't deflect.

I think what alot of the lefty Islamania apologists seem to be neglecting is why this guy killed his daughter. He killed her because of his Muslim beliefs. No amount of red herring will distract us all from that FACT. You can cite examples of violent fathers throughout history. The you can speculate on their religion. What you can't do is erase the simple fact: the man killed his father because of his Muslim beliefs. This little tagline comment speaks to a larger issue: the loonie left loves anything new. How does "new" or "progressive" really translate into "good"? Shouldn't there be sterner criteria for good policy than "everyone else is doing it - it's the new thing"? This is a constant problem with lefties. Judging by the state of affairs in Europe right now (a dn the rest of the world for that matter), I'm not sure I'd be huslting to duplicate the new, everyone's-doing-it models out there. The crux of the issue is this: What was this guy doing in Canada? These are not our values. If you think want to treat your women like this, there are lots of countries where this is considered acceptable behavior. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan for example. Bush presided over the mess left behind by the excesses of the clinton era - both economically and geopolitically - and has done a masterful job. Clinton had the party - Bush cleaned up the mess. May believe Clinton is far more resposible for the advancement of radical Islam and 9-11, North Korea etc. than Bush could ever be. It is Bush who has reintroduced accountability into the global scene.

Yuo're missing the bigger picture here. There is a common thread of Islam expecting th rest of the world to change on behalf of Allah that is so obvious, only smoeone who intentionally tries to ignore it could do so.
