  1. These articals/reports are only people's opinions, they make their living selling their opinion. Five years from now it'll have disappeared into cyberspace's wastebasket just like your buddy's prediction it's going to be a cold winter. Electrification has a long way to go before it's viable, converting to and maintaining this stuff is going to be an ecological disaster.
  2. Wouldn't surprise me there's at least one dose headed to Ottawa...
  3. The idea would be the public votes, it's official and we can shut the hell up about it till a week or two before the next vote. Quess I'm just being an idealist eh? Infidel Dog, if this was the seatbelt law we'd be seeing exactly the same video.
  4. I wonder what we gave up this time...
  5. We have the technology, it could be an online vote, majority rules and let the chips fall where they may. It could be binding for a month, six months, a year, whatever. Actually how come nobody has created a "live" pole for this, everybody gets to vote something like once each month and there is a live tally of the pro and anti mask positions. It would be interesting to see how it would ebb and flow over time. If no mask wins and many die as a result it's on the majority. What do you think?
  6. Yet he's still prime minister... I don't know, the past is the past, get over it. What he is doing as leader is what concerns me. I honestly don't give a damn what other world leaders think, again Canada has the ability to be independent and a leader if we just had the guts to to it.
  7. My point is we have everything we need, immigration should not be a requirement to make Canada work. Canada is far too dependent on foreign input. We don't need to import talent and ambition, we already have it if we nourish and encourage it.
  8. One bigot, no problem. Across the nation we have whole communities of bigots and as citizens we need to inform these people this is not okay. No one should have to endure this day after day. You're right though, we do need to grow up with some level of resilience. Being different is part of the fun of life exchanging friendly barbs and generalizations shouldn't result in loss of sleep. I worry that rampant political correctness we are experiencing now is actually going to knock the "human" out of humanity and turn us into self aware robots. Think of some interactions you have with others during the course of the day, the banter, the teasing, flirting, most ending with both parties feeling a little bit better (judging from the smiles). Occasionally it doesn't end as planned but hopefully worse case it's an opportunity to reflect and improve, that's life.
  9. By showing us we are raising entitled Canadians with substandard abilities and values...
  10. You have a point there but even we don't know if your guarantee is real plus what choice would he have? In politics the wolves are always there, just waiting for opportunities like this. He did it, he took ownership of it, he apologized. As mature Canadians can't we just accept that and move on? I just wish people would grow up and focus on current problems, how much time and energy do we have to waste on this? It's like his term as prime minister is perfect and it's all the opposition has.
  11. True but what harm did it actually do? Political correctness is rampant these days and of course now its used as a weapon.
  12. First point, blackface... Why are people hanging on this? It was twenty some years ago at some costume thing and the only people "offended" by it are entitled white people. I heard a couple interviews with people of the race he supposedly mimicked about this and it didn't bother them at all. He apologized, what more is he supposed to do? By the way it's really good to know so many on here have never performed an act of racism or discrimination in their own lives to this point. That being said the other scandals he's been a part of in his life and career need to be addressed and acted on accordingly. Second point... I don't think any politician should attend any special interest function while in their elected term. My veiw is if there are issues, step up to the podium state the problem and how you and your party intends to resolve it. Your obligation should be to all you represent, not those who make the most noise. Third point... Want to address discrimination? Start by fixing the tax system. It discriminates against those who don't have the means to seek out all the loopholes, workarounds etc that those with the means do. Any politian that has the guts to address these issues would get my attention, maybe my vote. Another would be if he/she would run on their own platform instead of "against" the opponent, I think it's childish when politicians state whomever is in power needs to be replaced by themselves. They are admitting they don't have anything better to offer. Negative campaigns are very immature to me and don't deserve my support, we already know the incumbent's track record, tell me what you are going to do.
  13. In other words Canadians are raising children to work under immigrant children, interesting. Then Argus says our best and brightest are headed south. This is good for Canada? You are another that believes Canadians have no talent and no ambition, we need to import it, that really is sad.
  14. He does have a point though, why not just stick with paper ballets? The US voting system is a convoluted mess, it seriously needs a major overhaul. And it should be done by a group that represents the citizens of the country, not the politians.
  15. So what? Don't like it get off Facebook... The internet supposedly tracks everything we do, why does it matter? If they find me interesting enough to track they really need a life. I quit Facebook a couple years ago when they decided their algorithm knew more about what I was interested in then me.
  16. This reminds me of the seatbelt law in the seventies... The commies were taking over then as well.
  17. It's interesting how people don't understand this. I don't know your opinion on minimum wage but if all business is required to pay at least this amount the economy will adjust. Why isn't minimum wage tied to inflation? TFWs make minimum wage (less in some circumstances, way less in a few), they pay their taxes and living expenses then send the rest home, how does that help our economy? A side note... If we need to import so much foreign talent, ambition and money what does that tell us about how we are raising the next generation worker? To me it seems we are not doing a very good job, we should be ashamed of ourselves. What is so bad about starting at the bottom and working up? Another thought... If a hamburger at McDonald's costs twenty bucks is that really a bad thing? We are constantly told fast food is bad for us maybe that would make it a luxury we can only afford on special occasions.
  18. Doesn't matter who's running at this point nobody there has the guts to make Canada independent and we are all going to pay. It's really too bad, Canada has such potential.
  19. You're kidding right? GST is based on billions of transactions, probably about 50% gets returned to the purchasers. It can't get more complicated or convoluted. I don't understand how something so stupid can be supported by anyone. If you are in business you pay the tax, you get it all back, if you are on the edge of starvation you pay it (plus PST etc). A simple progressive income tax with no deductions for every individual person and business in the country is by far the simplest and fairest but you economists with many years of indoctrination can't figure that out. Tax laws should be covered in a few pages not a whole library, we should pay taxes to benefit everyone not just the wealthy and those in power. If Otoole had the brains and guts to look into this he'd win by a landslide.
  20. Now that is funny, I bet it costs more to implement then revenue it generates. It does employ alot of people though.
  21. You do realize you don't have to buy tickets right?
  22. It's still simple, it's not illegal for wealthy people to participate in lotteries, you place your bet, you take your chances. If the lottery organizations are corrupt then that should be addressed by the appropriate authorities. It's no different then any other entity. There are people around here that are very wealthy but many don't know it, should that be advertised?
  23. Scott... Buddy, you are way over thinking this. The opening question/pole is regarding "winners" anonymity, not the whole industry.
