So are you saying you agree with me then? -

So then oil does have a direct effect on the Canadian dollar and in turn the entire economy, not just 8%? -

I was talking about the ones that don't have the hours to qualify for EI. The newest highers are usually the first layoffs that's how it works in the patch. That is also provided they all get their jobs back, the first layoffs began happening when the price was dropping below $90. If it's at $70-80 by the time road bans are off then that's still a lot of people out of work. -

So what you are saying is all the economists are wrong and that the price of oil is not tied in with the Canadian dollar? http://business.financialpost.com/2015/01/30/canada-gdp-falls-0-2-below-economists-expectations/. http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canadian-dollar-slips-below-79-cents-in-trading-1.2936443 http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canadian-dollar-could-fall-to-75-cents-on-weak-oil-prices-experts-say-1.2933280 http://business.financialpost.com/2015/01/26/canadian-dollar-sinks-near-80-cents-oil-at-45/ http://business.financialpost.com/2015/01/30/there-will-be-blood-jpmorgan-predicts-canadian-dollar-to-sink-to-77-cents-if-bank-of-canada-cuts-again/ -

What I am saying is some of these people may be latched to the system now for support and even if oil rebounds they may stay there as they become dependant. -

So you enjoy people losing their jobs? Explain why the dollar is so low, it's obviously not because the other 92% is doing well. -

Yeah but now those problems have no jobs and when the EI for them runs out, if they even worked enough hours to qualify, what do you think those problems will do? Some may latch onto the system for support. -

You can't even look past the GDP can you. Is that what you use to gauge everything in an economy? Again another opinion. If it rebound it rebounds, but if it doesn't then I guess we deal with it at the time. Our eggs are clearly in the oil basket though given the effect it is having on the country and the dollar. -

Under your own definition of a "regular government" as a "stable democracy". That would mean that you, Derek 2.0, clearly stated that neither of the countries are/were countries with a government. It's right in front of your eyes. Open them. -

That wasn't a statement that was a question. I linked to a message that quoted you saying.. after you stated that both countries were countries without a "regular government" I then asked You then defined a regular government as I then asked You then said When in fact you made the distinction that both never had a "regular government" and when I asked a government must be a democracy in order to be considered a government? You pretended like you never said that they do when in fact you did say it. -

You think it will rebound by summer? Considering that's when road bans are on many people may not be back to work until next winter in the oil industry. You still aren't understanding the concept. These people make money, lots of it, and they spend it on things, lots of things. When they are laid of, they stop making money, so they stop spending money on things. Are you still following? When they can't spend their money on other sectors, those sectors are harmed. Then there is the oil industry itself. Which spends money on the manufacturing sector, lots of money. When the manufacturing sector that makes things for the oil industry has less money spent on it, they will lay people off as well. All of these people getting laid off spend money on the service sector. When less money is spent on the service sector, the service sector has less money and must lay people off. Are you understanding how an economy works now? -

Then I guess we are at an impasse. Tell that to the nearly 23,000 people in jobs linked to the oil industry to be laid off this year. You still don't understand the concept at all do you? It effects all industries reflected in the GDP not just the 8% it represents. Suncor has already cut 1,000 jobs and Schlumberger has already cut 9,000 this year and it's only January. -
Well that's why they only looked at two Canadian cities. Why not include at least all provincial capitals in the list.

Considering that there are probably ex-members of Saddams army in ISIS ranks, they most likely would have been at least outnumbered. Again you cannot make that claim as they existed there for years without doing so. Just another opinion. Yes but I've been over this with other people, there are a large amount of people employed in the oil industry. Government revenues of Oil at all levels are in the billions. All other industries suffer. why do you think they have been delaying the budget? They have to make a new one because they have much less money to work with. Ask the people down in Estevan that had to go hand their house keys over to the bank because they have been laid off. The housing market suffers, the retail industry suffers. All industries suffer. I don't think you fully grasp the thousands of workers that make up some of richest portions of the middle class that have been laid off in the last few months in Central Canada. The thousands of workers that travel to this area from other provinces to make money then head back home in the east. There is talk of a possible recession in Alberta. And a threat to the housing bubble as well. If we had a more diversified economy this would not happen. -

I never made that distinction..... that's your projection. it's really easy to play dumb isn't it? I can play this game too. -

I never said any such thing, the Kurds did.<--- Sounds familiar doesn't it. You can't prove that they would have. Well I'm glad you agree that curtailing the use of oil is a good idea for humanity! It's evident that our economy suffers when Oil output is high and prices low. Maybe it's time to diversify. This is what happens when you put all your eggs in the oil basket. Can't expect oil groupies to understand that though but we will get them to come around eventually. -

Oh I didn't know referring to someone as a Child was now considered a profanity. I believe the questioning of you memory was without a doubt called for as you seem to forget things. Well even the Kurds say ISIS is worse than Saddam and it is pretty clear that without the Invasion ISIS would not have had the opportunity to take over. http://www.westernjournalism.com/isis-worse-sadaam-iraqi-kurd-commander-declares/#hExZ2PPU8wQd0Hfw.97 Of course they could just be saying that so we back them into power. So in other words we are just going to continually invade this part of the world. Because it's evident that change is not going to happen. Again who cares? Let oil soar, this is when people invest the most into alternative means. Whenever the price of oil is low, this stops investment into alternative sources. I could really care less. Make oil 1 million dollars a barrel if we have to. Just halt all production. It's the only way to advance as a civilization. We need to get out of the oil age anyways, it's about time we evolve as a species. -

I've provided cites and quotes. You've failed to acknowledge them, even though it is you who wrote them. And I never once called you any names. Again your memory is playing tricks on you. So if say the Saudi's decided to stop their overproduction, that would translate into nasty results for everyone? He did a better job at keeping the area secure than America and their coalition ever have. He's still a bastard but at least he had control. Ever since the 2003 invasion their oil supply has been much worse. Don't forget that's not the reason the states went in there either. It was because they thought he had nuclear weapons. but of course they found none. You and your ilk are the ones who have gotten us into this mess. I hope someone comes along with half a mind to get us out. Unfortunately you have no idea what we have gotten ourselves into. But you will see when the Kurds defeat ISIS, and when I say defeat I mean probably just weaken they will be back, the Kurds will be the next problem. Plus, we've armed them now. So that's on us. -

It was you who bolded the words "stable democracy in order to be considered a government?" You did and I'm sure everyone here can verify that. I refuse to comment any further on the matter. You're like a child. If you're just going to continue sticking your fingers in your ears and saying lala then I'll move on to someone who can provide me with a more intelligent conversation. You do know that the world is currently overproducing Oil, hence the reason it's so cheap right now? If that was really your aim you'd be saying we should leave Iraq alone, and let the price jump up a bit. Maybe Harper and Oliver can finally table the budget then. Oh were you? Your statement could easily be applied to the 2003 invasion as well, common mistake I suppose.
