  1. Bernier is blowing everyone out of the water on fundraising:
  2. Other then him doing all the stuff he promised Might not be popular or good policy, but he's doing it.
  3. I don't see why he wouldn't, likewise pressure nations within the region to contribute. Trump, IMHO, has a point when he questions why numerous Arab States are doing little to help the refugees.
  4. Exactly.........see Douglas MacArthur versus Truman.
  5. I remember him talking about it during the primaries........Reader's Digest, his "plan" was to protect and provide further assistance to refugee camps in the border regions, like Jordan, Iraq and Turkey. IIRC, doing this saw a dollar spent go three times as far, in other words, for the cost of bringing one family to the United States, they could support three families in prefab camps over there, providing for all of their needs closer to home......end result, no security issue for the United States, and more people are helped and ready to return home and rebuild once the conflict is over. (I remember back in late 2014-early 2015, a Canadian manufacturer that built prefab remote communities for O&G workers and the Canadian Forces, if purchased in bulk, could produce a prefab "shelter" out of 40' ISO containers, big enough for several families, for under $5000. Furthermore, for slightly more money, communal showers/washrooms, kitchens, classrooms and even hospitals. Each container would have self contained power and HVAC, ones with lesser electrical loads like sleeping quarters could be powered by a solar panel, and could be shipped by a standard ship/railcar/truck. When the conflict ended, ship the containers back to the refugees villages, towns and cities for shelters well they rebuild)
  6. I guess we got "Denald Trump jr's" attention.......Donald Trump jr's twitter feed is full of his kids
  7. And that is a prime example of the disconnect.........people like you feel its governments role to "offer stuff" to voters versus "returning stuff".........The party stands for plenty, any emotion that is projected is simply a reflection of the voting public........Liberals and the NDP were "angry" at Harper too, the difference now, Trudeau's promise of everything to everyone is just going to result in more people being angry when reality returns.............if O'Leary becomes the leader, as I said last year, he will be best poised to focus then benefit from said anger.........just like Trump.
  8. You're assuming my motivations are "blind faith".......for example, this Spring will likely be the first time I haven't voted for the BC Liberals/Social Credit since I've started voting decades ago..... The Federal Conservative (like the Canadian Alliance, Reform and Progressive Conservatives before them) Party is the only party, with a chance of forming Government, that comes closest to matching my own values and ethos........the Liberals, NDP and Greens (I'd considered them in the past) have little to offer me and a bunch of things I don't like........Maybe the Libertarians if they ever became viable or the current CPC fractured like the PCs did in the 90s. --------------- Said ethos and values are why I support Bernier for the leadership, but assuming he doesn't win, I would still support most of the others, knowing full well the Party is more about the membership then the leader.
  9. Exactly............Trudeau won by not being boring Harper........Our next PM will have won by not being manic Trudeau. Solidifying the party base and then winning back moderate swing voters with an economic message (and not being Trudeau) will be the winning formula.
  10. Sure, but then like Trudeau, he promised all things to everyone........clearly he was never able to keep his promises, nor will Trudeau, and decimated the party........Harper's promises were largely grounded in reality, but didn't "inspire" people with magical fantasy land like Trudeau. Oh the party sure did....they ran away from him (and Campbell) and into the wilderness for the next decade. No, Harper (and Mulcair) pitched reality to Canadians.......Trudeau promised everything to everyone....and look how that's working out. When Trudeau's time is done, he'll go out like his father and Mulroney, banishing his own party into the wilderness.......the question, will that be in 2019 and who is going to benefit and return us to reality.
  11. I wouldn't start the victory lap just yet......lets see if he shows up at the next debate and how many people he gets to join the party to vote for him.
  12. For gun owners, the winds a blowing towards Scheer, O'Toole and Bernier.........I notice O'Leary says he's a gun owner, some consider it astute and others cheap pandering.
  13. True, but then there is a reason why several of those running for the leadership are active posters at CGN, likewise most running have or are in the process of obtaining their RPAL......and its not because Canadian gun owners don't carry influence within the party.......several million Canadians with money, that vote and are politically active are the reason O'Leary attempted to walk back some of his statements on guns, last night on ET Canada.......
  14. And it would be very popular among the rump Libertarian Party, which would benefit from former conservatives........and of course, the division of the right would enshrine a Trudeau dynasty.
  15. Maybe in NDP and Liberal ridings in Toronto and Montreal, but not actual Conservative ridings, leading a party that has policies voted on by membership that run counter to his past statements.
  16. If true, that only furthers my support of him..........I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of Western separation.
  17. Mulroney was reliant upon Quebec (separatists) and his never ending herding of Quebec cats led to alienation of the West and furthered the Reform movement....unless you want a generation of Trudeau, Mulroney's path is not one to repeat..........Chong doesn't sell in the West. Bernier's libertarian ethos put him in a position akin to Social Credit......something that works in both Quebec and the West. Harper was able to herd conservative cats of many different stripes, the next leader will also have to do this.
  18. Policy is determined by the party, once O'Leary acknowledges that, then he'll cement his place within the party. Until he clarifies his past statements on the military and gun ownership, I have zero inclination to support him as party leader. O'Leary's positions on the economy, though poorly defined, are not any different then most of the other field.......but, as I said last year, he is currently positioned to better communicate it
  19. If Kim Campbell came back and led the Tories. Joking aside, if Kellie Leitch won the leadership, I'd consider voting Libertarian......likewise, I'd consider voting for my NDP MP if it looked like he were in a tight fix against the Liberals or Greens.
  20. It didn't the last time the Feds had to clean-up Chicago.........
  21. It could be, we'll have to wait and see if this translates into new members that will vote for him.........as I said, if he wins the leadership, I'll still vote Tory, but he doesn't have my party vote for the leadership....I still need to see some flushed out policies and for him to clarify (or retract) past statements and stances that he has made.
  22. In fairness to O'Leary: That is impressive, lets see if it keeps up.......and translates into new people joining the party to vote for him
  23. Exactly, and to add, give them a couple more years of the Trudeau government........ I agree, and they both (along with Bernier, Blaney, Raitt, Alexander and Trost) will be in my top 7 (of ten) when I cast my party ballot.
  24. How is that? What do you feel I'm glossing over here?
