Conair is a BC company.........and the world largest amphib is based in BC.....thanks for coming out though.
-
And what happens to the 415s load capacity from water? If one tanker carries three times the capacity as another, including fire gel and retardant with each load, with a faster cruising speed and enough fuel to fly across Canada etc.........you're still suggesting the aircraft with far less capacity is more effective? Maybe there is a reason that the largest aerial tanker company in the world (Conair) relies more on large tankers, and there is a market to convert large former jet liners and military transports into aerial tankers........
-
415s don't need fuel?
-
And that's the point, Trudeau is in Ottawa......think of the selfies he could get with all the grateful folks he's supporting with cots not fit for Syrian refugees.....
-
Weren't you tooting Trudeau's horn in this thread over the DND sending some old army cots? Syrians get hotels and Fort Mac residents get army cots on barn floors and a case of the galloping trots.......
-
No, but then they are busy.......Trudeau met with Alex Trebek last week to try and get Canadians back on Jeopardy.
-
And the old Electras operated by Conair and Air Spray (the two contractors in Alberta) are worth 2-3 415s and there are a bunch of them and everything else under the sun........so what's your point?
-
By who? The Trudeau Government?
-
What link are you quoting from?
-
Hilarious........I'm the partisan one because I'm asking why Trudeau will go into debt putting Syrians up in hotels, but Canadians get stacked in like cattle......and you defend his inaction?
-
Exactly, and quoted by the Alberta Forestry head that is on the scene, countless times in media.
-
Stop talking out of your ass......despite the cuts by the Alberta Government, they still contract out far more than 4 aerial bombers .....the sole, cut, tanker group that was based south of Fort Mac was home to more than four water bombers
-
Huh?
-
Exactly, BC companies go down to Australia in our winter season (their Summer), and have even been contracted by the Australian government to fight fires in other nations in the region.........If resources are too stretched to fight this fire properly, I fail to see a valid reason not to accept said offers........its purely vain politics on Trudeau's part.
-
I know, and damn near every media outlet......here in BC, our resources are already stretched fighting the big fire up near Fort St. John, so much so we couldn't send resources to Alberta.
-
Odd, the Syrians in British Columbia have already been dumped on BC Housing..........none the less, as linked on the previous page, there is a formula, that by law, requires the Federal Government pick-up 90% of disaster related tabs after a monetary threshold based on population size..In Alberta's case, that's at around ~$50 million dollars......... But nice attempt at squaring that circle, as to why Syrians get put in hotels but Canadians get put head-toe in virus ridden gyms, warehouses and convention/agri centers, better suited to cattle auctions and boat shows.........The Trudeau Government is treating Syrian refugees better than the Canadian taxpayers that are paying for them.......

America under President Trump
Derek 2.0 replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I haven't heard squat about a left leaning third party run by anyone to damage Clinton...... -
Exactly, mostly when Trudeau promised better relations with the Russians........I'm sure the ethnic Ukrainian population would love Trudeau welcoming the Russians Here's a better one to ponder........thousands of Canadians are sleeping on foam mats and cots in community centers and gyms, in cramped quarters that have resulted in a viral flu outbreak.......but when we brought the Syrians in, we put them up in hotels with meal allowances, in some cases for months (and some still in hotels)........if we can afford to host Syrians in Canadians hotels, why can't we put Canadians up in hotels? There are plenty of now vacant hotels (with the downturn in oil) in Edmonton/Leduc/Nisku......
-
Exactly........The Russians have more experience fighting fires in boreal forests than the Americans and Mexicans..........I think Trudeau's reason for the rejection is obvious though, despite saying he would seek better relations with the Russians, Russians fighting forest fires in Canada would be seen as a political embarrassment to Trudeau ...plain and simple. --------------

America under President Trump
Derek 2.0 replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Let's be realistic, Trump doesn't have the support of the entire Republican party, how could he come close to winning the general? ~6 months before the general, and he's behind were Romney sat by a uuuuuuge amount, he might appeal to some blue dog democrats, but not enough to replace the Republicans that won't vote Trump........with the polling averages today, its shaping up to be a worse blow-out then Goldwater/LBJ. .........6 months out, and my money is on the swayback nag.......which with nearly anyone other than Trump, shouldn't be electable. -
Exactly, I can't see it happening........and I would like and be fine with a rule change to allow Rona to run, and based on the above polling, so too would a great many other Tories. There is plenty of time and there will be many factors between now and then that could help one candidate over another.....
-
Yes, I know. That's subject........in the some circles, 80k is a far smaller number than 4 million........ I might have got a tad too much sun this weekend, but I'm not sure how you've come to $60 million.......I get under $50 million......none the less, the Federal government is going to be on the hook for billions.
-
It's not the slightest bit of drift.......as cited chapter and verse from the actual review, said review will also cover the topic of funding.........also, as it stands, prior to the review being completed (~next year), the Liberals have seen fit to cut funding, with a promise to restore sometime in the future, billions of dollars earmarked for DND.

Still Going to Buy the F-35, Really?
Derek 2.0 replied to Hoser360's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It might not, who knows........the intent of posting the article is clear, the French have been accused of corruption, but more damning, won't offer a better offset deal to potential buyers then what the Indians have got, which is still far below expected Canadian dealings, in which we require a 100% offset.........More the reason no Canadian government is going to purchase the Rafale. -
Still Going to Buy the F-35, Really?
Derek 2.0 replied to Hoser360's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It very much so confirmed my point that our current inventory can be used with an American aircraft with no added cost, unlike the European aircraft. How could the Harper Government have put forth the cost of munitions used in two (then) future conflicts? I just did in my previous post.......unlike Canada, Australia intends to purchase additional costly munitions that Canada isn't intent on purchasing........as such, basing an estimate for Canada on purchase plans for Australia is foolish.
