  1. So are you saying the Super Hornet was sorted out during development?
  2. But it doesn't.....the listed public figures associated with the Falcon/Flanker/Hornet/Typhoon etc are of aircraft without weapons and limited fuel. Outside an X-Wing fighter, no current or near future aircraft can outrun a modern air to air missile within it’s flight envelope……….but as you said, those other aircraft have to detect it first. Ahh but it's not that simple........Sustained Gs coupled with the L/D ratio are far more important in a turning fight………And of all those aircraft mentioned, how many can detect, track and launch a missile at a target directly, behind, below or above it? You're putting too much stock in both wing-loading and declassified “stats” of other aircraft……..remember, nearly all those figures you’ll see on the internet are of aircraft with very little fuel and nothing under the wings.
  3. So that’s a no on expanding on your earlier claim? Are you suggesting the issues the Super Hornet faced during development that led to two groundings are no longer present?
  4. Of course I want a number......earlier you said: So at what temperature is "way too much heat"? And would you care to address the initial issues with the Super Hornet’s engines (the aircraft that you also champion) that lead to it’s fleet being grounded twice in the 1990s?
  5. Well let’s be specific then, at what temperature is that?
  6. So, do you now feel like stating what is too much heat for an engine?
  7. Well don't go away sore........If you really wanna know about the engines, just use your Google-fu and have a read up on the development of the Super Hornet’s engines (a recycled design…you gotta love recycling now eh), versus the engines (note plural) developed for the F-35 family……..
  8. Well there you go....I'm stumped........maybe, just maybe, the issues with the Super Hornet were solved, and this led to one of the safest aircraft in the history of NAVAIR........
  9. Go read a few pages further back.....he's been in rerun mode all long weekend.
  10. Clearly the Super Hornet should have been binned after the second grounding I don't know how you let your sons and daughters fly those things today
  11. What upgraded engines? And I don't have him on ignore, but I choose no longer acknowledge his repetitive posts until his garnered some insight into the topic……I’ve no issue with his personally or typically on other subjects.
  12. The Spanish can't afford their Navy......Their fleet flagship went early, without replacement..... As to the British, no Lockheed sources, but Royal Navy and British Press.
  13. What statement? That the fleet was grounded twice due to it's engine? I'm sorry if your championed solution had issues with it's engines....
  14. The Growler and Super duper Hornet? Don't they use the same engines?!?!?!?!?! And which Rue post are you talking about? I've tuned him out.
  15. Are you now suggesting the Super Hornet has a revised engine? Has this solved the issue that caused two fleet groundings of your championed aircraft?
  16. The Spanish didn't though: I'd imagine for much the same reasons the Spanish retired their aircraft carrier early......they're broke right now, but of course: As to the British, again, resort your "facts"........The F-35B fleet is still going on the airshow tour, but the sole British F-35B will be several days late for the naming of HMS Queen Elizabeth.......
  17. Are you suggesting the Super Hornet, your championed aircraft, is still operating the same engines that caused two fleet wide groundings and resulted in a production decrease by nearly half, are still in use? Shocking I say!!!
  18. I never said distinctly separate......No comment I take it though on your selection of the Super Hornet "lemon" though I take it
  19. The arguments used in the Stealth versus non stealth “debate” are akin to past ones like supersonic versus subsonic, or swept wing versus straight….or jet versus prop……inline versus radial…all metal construction versus wood and fabric……monoplane versus biplane etc……..with the result, one will either evolve or die, simple as that.
  20. Actually no......it's the Spanish version of the AV-8A......or "Harrier I"
  21. You call one of the cornerstones of the fundamentals of aerodynamics “propaganda”…….and I thought you were a science guy..
  22. New engine claim? Hardly: http://www.history.navy.mil/library/online/f18_growler.htm Clearly if the same metric applied to the F-35 today was applied to the Super Hornet nearly 20 years ago, the Waldo (and friends) would be calling the Super Hornet a waste……..yet today, they’re all in…..irony at it’s finest
  23. What material? By all means, answer a very simple question.......What temp is too hot for a single engine? Very simple, no need for wizardry or a Janes account.
