No Military Action - Ever! Another Trudeau Gaffe?
Derek 2.0 replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
By all means: -
Not at all, but I’m not delusional, nor nostalgic for some Canada that never was…….
-
In what universe was this place you grew up in called Canada?
-
It is of course an interesting comparison, that I haven't thought of before, on reflection very apt.........of course the Khmer Rouge was supported and propped up by the Red Chinese (which invaded Vietnam in response)......in this incarnation though, ISIS doesn't have the outside support of a large State (nuclear armed) backer and is opposed by most nations........ Likewise, if one wishes to dive deeper, the Khmer Rouge grew (as did the death toll) within the vacuum created from the departure of US Forces in Southeast Asia post Vietnam......and continued to fester (as did the bodies left in its wake) under a weak American President.
-
I fully agree, I'd love to see both Trudeau and Mulcair downplay the threat of terrorism......... The latest polls that I've seen suggest 65-70% of Canadians support the fight against ISIS.........surely some on the "left" are onside then. I have no doubt that if a couple of "body bags" returned home, some (like you) would waste no time to start dancing on the fallen's graves.
-
Interesting read........I think the author's conclusion sums it up: The Khmer Rouge of course was defeated by opposition Cambodians and Vietnamese, aided and supported by the Soviets......
-
I'd like to see similar statistics from September of 1939, and replace terrorists with Nazis.........
-
Interesting point and perspective.......none the less, I hope the NDP and Liberals campaign against the anti-terror laws well doubling down on their views over the lack of threat posed by ISIS........
-
That should be no surprise, the right-of-center Liberal Democrat Party has been the predominate governing party in Japan since the end of the Second World War........Necon global fascists conspiracy or a reflection of the (majority) views of most Japanese........whatever fits your narrative I suppose.......

Let's make Some Easy Money - Oil ETFs

And up 20% overall in the last four days of trading..........prices plummet, the smart invest and the companies trim the fat, good for the bottom line......as I said to a member in another thread, I expect $50-60 bbl by the time the Federal Government releases it budget in April, and ~$80+ a bbl by Summer driving season.......... Context is something the MSM media has never been good at, well always relying upon the bad news stories that sell..........What was never offered to contrast with the one million+ bbl glut of oil, is that said amount is half the capacity within one Supertanker.......... -
I heard rumors a few months ago that he was going to leave before the election......I'd have thought to run for the leadership of the Ontario PC party, but the deadline to enter the race was last Saturday, maybe there is something to the suggestions of Baird joining former Australian PM Kevin Rudd in a leadership role at the WHO???

Unless you live in British Columbia.........Six Seven years ago, the then Campbell Liberal government tabled Bill 42 to curtail third party advertising, but the various Unions, led by the BCTF, challenged and won in BC Supreme Court on grounds of free speech being curtailed by Bill 42 from preventing them getting "their message out"..........And of course, the Unions outspend, every election, groups that favor the Liberals.......spending the most doesn't always ensure victory on election day mind you....
-
I'm speaking to third parties i.e. BCTF's spending of the strike fund on "truth adds" running up to the last election.
-
A good point as made evident by the recent Ontario and BC elections, where unions were heavily involved.

Its been tried, and resulted in firearms being adorned in legalize, along with the inclusion of a safety/operators manual and an included trigger lock.....nice thinking but we won that over 20 years ago
-
Quite a difference between a onetime use item like a bullet, and a firearm with expected repeated use…..
-
Exactly, currently a Special Forces team that wants to demobilize a group of terrorists in a moving Toyota pick-up would utilize a smart bomb, guided missile or smart artillery…….now they can use a .50 calibre smart round to put through the engine block of a moving truck from a mile+ away…
-
Why not buy more conventional bombs, artillery shells and mortar rounds and use the money for something with a better return?

In my opinion, as a fiscal Conservative, there isn’t any form of tax cut/credit that I don’t like……as a bias supporter of the Tories, politically, it sandbags the other parties that attempt to bribe voters with lavish programs……one can’t promise something if they have no way of paying for it. As I said, it comes down to ideology, I don’t want more social programs….granted promising people free stuff paid for by others is smart politics…..unless you can’t pay for it. Both the Liberals and NDP (more so the NDP) have elements within their parties that despise legal firearms ownership…….neither party, as a gun owner, has said anything to make me feel they are at least gun neutral and would leave everything as is. Obama is a lame duck and I feel his refusal of Keystone is more to do with domestic politics than our Government…. Partisan, regional politics…..nothing more. Historic Governments, both LPC and PC required the support of Quebec to govern, Harper has shown how to govern without Quebec……. I disagree, by this summer, said swing voters will be receiving their tax refunds and will get to decide, more of the same or the other guy that wants to legalize dope, tax carbon and rob the Canadian Pension plan to finance his election promises……..and said Ontario voters will remember all too well how Liberals manage their tax dollars, and now they’re going to manage their pensions?
-
Why? Making a smart bullet for a large anti material rifle smoothbore makes perfect sense, and equates to a less destructive option if required.....
-
Your question could be asked of all other smart munitions.......simply put, it will increase accuracy at longer distances and allow for compensation of a moving target.
