  1. How do you know it was revisionist nonsense?
  2. You obviously didn't read the interview with the originator of the flag. Perhaps because he was interviewed by Cbc radio? You shouldn't depend too much on Wikipedia for your facts.
  3. I guess you missed the part where over 650,000 people watch the parade including thousands of families. I have watched the parade a few times and I observed nothing but a lot of fun and cheers. Maybe you should attend it?
  4. It isn't just the Canadian LGBT community. As a marcher in the Turkish pride parade said today (as they were pepper sprayed and shot at with water cannons by the police) so eloquently "We are at the stage of "please don't kill us". Never mind equal rights.
  5. Or adult men who pee all over the walls, the floors, their neighbours,...
  6. Yes, that's true. There are many reasons for the colours.
  7. Sure he does. Check his post under 'The Nobel Prize' thread under sex and gender issues forum.
  8. As long as countries around the world persecute the LGBT community, we should all continue to fight for their equal rights. Part of the purpose of pride celebrations is to show the world that there are certain countries that support this. A reason for the rainbow colours: The rainbow flag was a response to the homophobic pink triangle "Like Nazis who used the Star of David to target Jewish people, anti-gay persecutors used the pink triangle to mark those who were openly or presumed gay." "They had a whole code of emblems that they used to oppress people, and we needed something to answer that," says Baker, adding that the rainbow was perfect because of its associations with diversity, beauty and nature. " You can read more here on other reasons for the colours.
  9. Vancouver painted the first rainbow crosswalk in Canada two years ago.
  10. In the end Shady, it's his legacy that counts. Suck it up. This is what he will be remembered for.
  11. Come on Shady. You know what he has accomplished. Read the links that have been provided in this thread.
  12. So tell us what Obama has failed in his presidency?
  13. Telling me to suck it up isn't childish? So you can tell me to suck it up, but I can't tell you to?
  14. Obama has just rewritten his legacy this past week. Suck it up.
  15. Well, that's for sure! They have to fill out a questionnaire.
  16. I think a hockey team in Seattle would create a great rivalry between the Cancucks and Seattle. I would love to see that happen. And it would be a tremendous economic benefit to both Washington and BC.
  17. Well, from the commentaries I have read and heard from the black people in the community, they are certainly not numb to the horrific acts of black people being gunned down in a church by a white boy. It certainly has a hell of a lot to do with everything. And Obama has finally chosen to speak out against racism.. It's about time!! He grew a pair in the last few years at the helm.
  18. And it's weird how descriptive they are.....
  19. My crusade against men. Oh please. Give it up. And tell your response to the parents of boys who have been abused and murdered by pedophiles.
  20. No that's not what it is about. You know very well Wilbur where this bridge is located. It is in the hub of the west end of Vancouver which has a very high concentration of the LGBT community. And the flag is being proposed to be draped during pride week with all the festivities going on. As I mentioned earlier the parade has over 650,000 individuals viewing the parade. Surely that tells you a lot about the community support for the lgbt, regardless of the colours. It's simply mind boggling that people would have a problem with this unless they knew of the city of Vancouver. Which you do btw and quite frankly, I'm surprised as to your lack of empathy for their cause.
  21. To be fair to me. I quickly posted a correction as soon as I found out. No need to call out a messed up op when it was addressed as quickly as I found out.
  22. We are talking about 8 year old KIDS! They are not adults. Honestly. Why should we tell 8 year old girls to cover up and not boys if the concern is truly about pedophiles? And I would suggest that we don't because there is this instinct we should dictate how females dress and not how males should dress.
