Listening to a news report, a nurse talking about "Covid isn't real" patients dying from Covid. They miss time with family and friends as they deny their diagnoses. They insist it must be pneumonia, the flu, lung cancer, and that "this can't be happening" until their last breath. Brought me to tears, even more than hearing about the thousands of people dying on a daily basis. I really don't get how people can conclude there's a worldwide conspiracy to "scare" us into wearing masks and staying home by inflating the seriousness of Covid. If anything, many countries downplay the extent of infection and deaths to avoid looking bad or to keep their citizens from "panicking". Only in Western democracies can we be reasonably sure there's accurate information provided. This is so, so sad and in places like Canada, the States, the UK etc., so unnecessary. If "survival of the fittest" is true, then people who are so stupid as to deny a deadly pandemic should be the first to suffer from it. Sadly, this isn't the case. We're all at risk, and the deniers put as at more risk as they spread misinformation, cry about masks and refuse to follow public health guidelines. So many unnecessary deaths.
