It declared that the Islamic restriction on unmarried men and women being together could be lifted at work if the woman breast-fed her male colleagues five times, to establish family ties. Then came the urine fatwa. It said that drinking the urine of the Prophet Muhammad was deemed a blessing. For the past few weeks, the breast-feeding and urine fatwas have proved a source of national embarrassment in Egypt, not least because they were issued by representatives of the highest religious authorities in the land. "The highly esteemed and well respected scholar Izat Atiyah issued a fatwa declaring that unmarried men and women can be together at work only if the woman breast-feeds each of her male colleagues five times to establish familial ties. - this is Holy and Allah inspired "reasoning"?" Egyptians themselves are embarrassed, this dude is clearly a bonehead! But don't let that stop you from furthering your smear campaign against everything Muslim! Carry on with your NON news! Yah Yah promoting sexist stereotypes, whatever. To some, half-truths will do. Quote Insults are the ammunition of the unintelligent - do not use them. It is okay to criticize a policy, decision, action or comment. Such criticism is part of healthy debate. It is not okay to criticize a person's character or directly insult them, regardless of their position or actions. Derogatory terms such as "loser", "idiot", etc are not permitted unless the context clearly implies that it is not serious. Rule of thumb: Play the ball, not the person (i.e. tackle the argument, not the person making it).
scribblet Posted June 13, 2007 Author Report Posted June 13, 2007 Its just chaos in Fatwa land and a Fatwa free for all .... e-i-e-i-o.... "There is chaos now," Megawer said. "The problem created is confusion in thought, confusion about what is right and what is wrong religiously." In Egypt, there are two official institutions responsible for religious interpretation. The House of Fatwa, or Dar al-Ifta, which technically falls under the Ministry of Justice, and Al Azhar. All court sentences of death must be approved by Dar al-Ifta, for example. Remiel Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 I read all of the comments from the Jerusalem Post article. Rather sad how many of them are filled to the brim with hate. Despite Israeli's having the biggest axe to grind with Palestinians, their comments seem to have a minimum of vitriol, on the whole. Most of the worst were from people in the U.S. and some from Canada. You'd think that in between their spewing of hatred for Palestinians and proclamations of how evil and nasty they are, they'd stop to think of how their is nothing a fundamentalist Muslim can teach them about hatred that they can't learn from their home grown KKK. Not they they need any more instruction, on that account. Quote

It is this type of thinking that is holding Moslems back. I wonder how many actually believe them or follow them, hopefully they just shake their heads too. Maybe they should boycott 'palestinian academics now' BTW nice tag team work at throwing out insults from the usual quarters. You too really work at it. Quote

Guest chilipeppers Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 What was the 'half truth' I wonder that she should really breast feed 10 times, not 5 LOL He only retracted because of the stink, to even come up with that one must have taken some really deeeeppp intellectual thought. from same link sort of http://tinyurl.com/34eu6p A couple approached. The man’s clothes were tattered, and his wife looked distressed. Their 9-year-old son’s clothing was clean, his hair gelled, his smile bright. The man explained that they had adopted the child when he was 9 months old, and that they had just heard that under Islam their son had to be put out of the house, because the mother had not given birth to him or breast-fed him.He would reach puberty as an outsider, and could not, technically, be around the woman he knew as his mother. The imam at their local mosque said it was haram — forbidden under Islam — to live with the boy. The sheik said yes, that was right, that the boy could not live with them. The father leaned in, disturbed, and said, “And that’s it.” The sheik seemed stuck and referred them to another sheik for another opinion. That was their fatwa. Maybe the next sheik will be more accommodating or just more dark Ages misogyny http://news.scotsman.com/international.cfm?id=869842007 then there is the one hour marriages to ease sexual frustration humma humma Quote
