M.Dancer Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 LOS ANGELES — The 24-year-old son of former Vice President Al Gore was arrested for drug possession on Wednesday after he was stopped for allegedly speeding in his hybrid Toyota Prius, a sheriff's official said.Al Gore III – whose father is a leading advocate of policies to fight global warming – was driving his environmentally friendly car at about 160 kilometres per hour on a freeway south of Los Angeles when he was pulled over by an Orange County sheriff's deputy at about 2:15 a.m. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...ernational/home This is an Inconvenient Truth..... Riverwind Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Never underestimate the ability of a son or daughter to screw up the credibility of the parent.....I am not sure how a weed smoking son in a speeding hybrid damages Gore's credibility. I could see your point if he was caught with a hummer full of illegally cut timber.... Quote To fly a plane, you need both a left wing and a right wing.

Not sure how his actions would affect Gore's credibility unless Gore was out pitching some line about how his whole family lives by his values. Quote

In fact, his son probably increased his credibility by proving that he doesn't breed plastic spoons and forks. Quote
stignasty Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Hopefully young Mr. Gore gets his act together. As for damaging his father's credibility, it shouldn't do any more damage than other cases in the past. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/01/29/...ain326007.shtml http://archives.cnn.com/2001/US/04/27/bush.daughter/ Quote "It may not be true, but it's legendary that if you're like all Americans, you know almost nothing except for your own country. August1991 Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 A Prius doing 160 km/h? I think Toyota paid for this PR stunt/report. Quote

If you don't think it doesn't reflect on Gore (or Bush, Chretien etc) why do you think it's newsworthy? Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us

M.Dancer Posted July 5, 2007 Author Report Posted July 5, 2007 I don't think it's newsworthy. You should write a letter to the 600 plus news orgs that carried the story and complain......and send of a note to AlGore too who was quick to give interviews telling everone that no one was hurt and it is a private family matter (well, except for the court thingies) Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
geoffrey Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 What's the fuel economy at 160km/h? Did he have the AC on? How much does pot smoking contribute to GHG emissions? How much does the cost to real prescription med users increase because of the increased demand by junkies like Gore Jr.? Every little bit helps people! gc1765 Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 How much does the cost to real prescription med users increase because of the increased demand by junkies like Gore Jr.? How would the cost of prescription medications increase (in theory)? Quote Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable. - Jeffrey Sachs (from his book "The End of Poverty")
geoffrey Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 How would the cost of prescription medications increase (in theory)? Supply and demand. Junkies demand more, the price shifts up. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --

The price might go up on the streets, but not at the pharmacy. It doesn't affect anyone getting it legally. Quote

In any case, people shouldn't be so quick to judge Mr. Gore III. As I recall, Mr. Bush (43) was bailed out numerous times by Poppy Bush (41), both in business deals and legal frays and it was long after his 24th birthday. Quote
