There that kid shot at school, more shootings last weekend, and last night a guy shooting at police. All near the Jane and Finch area. Please read the below question carefully and answer in a factual manner what you believe the problem to be.

--=== Question ===--

What is the root cuase of the majority of this kind of violence in Toronto, Ontario Canada?

--=== Question ===--

---- Charles Anthony banned me for 30 days on April 28 for 'obnoxious libel' when I suggested Jack Layton took part in illegal activities in a message parlor. Claiming a politician took part in illegal activity is not rightful cause for banning and is what is discussed here almost daily in one capacity or another. Crack.

Harper differed with his party on some key policy issues; in 1995, for example, he was one of only two Reform MPs to vote in favour of federal legislation requiring owners to register their guns.

Canada has no crack infested areas like in the US. Meth maybe, but past shootings have been over ciggarettes, and beinng disrespected - not crack and money deals.

OK you're living a pipe dream. Crack is here and it is bad. Sure it may not be in the epidemic proportions of some US cities but it is far more prevalent and accessable than Crystal meth.

First off, your geography sucks. The shootings this past weekend were in Rexdale. But then again, you did say "area" .

Jane and Finch gets a bad rap, partly deserved , but I can tell you there are worse spots in this city, and virtually none of them make me scared, save for Trethewey after dark.

Secondly , as for your question , there is no root "cuase" (sic) . There are myriad reasons for shootings in this city.

There have been 27 murders in TO so far this year.Only 14 have been by guns. So of 14 shootings some can be attributed to payback, or retaliation, meaning there is no "reason" that society can attribute it to. As much as you would like, you cannot.

There have been murders committed from family squabbles ,nephew killed the uncle. Wife killed by husband....and so on.

Sure crack and meth have their roles in all this.

But no one, and that includes you, have the de facto answers.

So md00...state your case here.

I beg to differ. Crack is huge in some parts of Toronto and it has been creeping into middle class neighbourhoods.

You can buy crack easily in jamestown, regent park, parkdale and in the jane finch areas. It's cheap, and former coke fans who have had their lives diminished by blow turn to crack for that reason.

Never heard of meth in the areas though......but I'm sure it;s there

If you're interested, there's a thread underway with some good information on this subject under Moral and Religious Issues:

Link: http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=9236

Exactly my feeling about this thread.

The link above provides a good, thoughtful article to introduce the issue. (I'm still thinking.)

The lack of fathers or good male role models is part of the problem, another problem is also the influence of some male role models. e.g. 50 cent, Tupac, Public Enemy, etc. Maybe its time that these people and those who promote became more socially responsible.

Lol!

Sorry everyone is avoiding the true problem in Canada's case.

I'm not talking about US ghetto's, i'm talking about Canada's specific situation.

No one has got the right, factual reason yet.

You mean the "right factual reason" according to you.

Just going by your previous posts I would doubt you have a very good grasp of what the "right factual reason" actually is. I am pretty sure you believe it has something to do with them all being immigrants, or coloured or some other BS that suits your perspective.

Zionism, imperialism, racism and America.

i worked in a factory with them Jamaicans, they are very good with hands, have a good mobility, they are strong, with muscular bodies. :)

Also, I saw some Jamaican girls, working as painters, on construction sites.

No wonder that Canada brought them, always complaining for a labour shortage.

As long as he's apologizing to numerous other immigrant groups, Harper may as well apologize to all Jamaican-Canadians. It costs nothing to apologize and might even produce a few votes.

also, it is proven that macho males, are good at making children, but not rearing them.

the opposite is true also. the ones with low levels of testosterone, are good at rearing children.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biological_reproduction

see the two strategies:

"" These two main strategies are known as K-selection (few offspring) and r-selection (many offspring). Which strategy is favoured by evolution depends on a variety of circumstances. Animals with few offspring can devote more resources to the nurturing and protection of each individual offspring, thus reducing the need for many offspring. On the other hand, animals with many offspring may devote fewer resources to each individual offspring; for these types of animals it is common for many offspring to die soon after birth, but normally enough individuals survive to maintain the population.""

An interesting phenomena: as the woman is approaching birth, she influences her husband, (if he is around) lowering his testosterone levels ! thus, making him more accepting the children !

But of course in your little white bread corner of BC , what would one expect.

That's true. In my little unsophisticated corner of BC we don't have Jamaican gangs. Hell, we don't even have "Indo-Canadian" gangs. We're not as sophisticated as you, but it's not entirely bad...we don't have the same volume of lead flying through the air either. I'm lobbying city hall to be more openminded and inclusive and hold a job fair for immigrant thuggery, but so far the racists have turned me down. All we get are seasonal Mexicans, and aside from their bathroom habits, they're fairly tame. Apparently the racists haven't been able to be inclusive enough to invite Peruvian refuges like vacationing Sendero Luminosa, and we have to settle for more or less law abiding and allegedly temporary help.

I'm getting a bit tired of the rank and disgusting bigotry here. One of my law partners is a Jamaican female lawyer and she is one of the finest lawyers, parents and human beings that I know anywhere, of any race or nationality. So are the Jamaicans she associates with. She does associate with many non-Jamaicans since we are not cursed with racial segregation multiculturalism.

I asked her why she came to our country, and she did say it was to get away from the obstacles to progress such as violence. These immigrants are people, by and large, that come to Canada and the US to make a better life for themselves and, in so doing, make our countries better places. Please cut the bigotry.

Thanks.

Stop running around as the self-appointed pottymouth police. If you can't muster a sense of humour, then don't read whatever it is you don't like. I'm sick unto death of political correctness precluding honest discussion and or harmless sideswipe humour. Make fun of me and my sheep shagging ancestors all you want, I don't care. Lighten up for God's sake.

Excuse me.

I am not politically correct. I am standing up for the people I work with. And I'll stand up for people to whom I'm loyal any minute of the day, any day of the week, not matter what you think.
