August1991 Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Goodhand arrives by cab and is escorted from the gate to the front door by security. He is told to go on in, but rings the doorbell nonetheless. The prime minister answers the door himself. "Come on in," he says. "Seeing as how it's noon, I suppose I'd better provide you some lunch." And off to the kitchen they go. "I have never seen a fridge so big," Goodhand says. "It was as big as one of those units you see in restaurants. The prime minister starts hauling food out of the fridge ... meat, lettuce, cheese -- enough to feed an army. "And we each made our own sandwich." Glen Goodhand took a cheese bun and made himself something modest in size. But not the prime minister. "He stacked it up, like a Dagwood sandwich," he says, "and then popped it in the microwave for a few seconds. Toronto SunHarper does stuff like this every so often. I think it's genuine, or as genuine as anything to do with a PM is genuine. Quote

noahbody Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Did the prime minister slide a bill for lunch across the table to the guy? Did he leave an envelope full of money on the table then go to the bathroom? Quote
M.Dancer Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 I don't know how Harper will appeal to the Rosedale crowd if he microwaves his bread...... .....there are standards Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
runningdog Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Did PMSH....hehehe, sorry, no comment here. Way too easy to find a punchline. I can only hope Steven was able to finish it all (plus his 3 pack of twinkies.) Honestly, getting Canadians to get back in shape should be a goal of ALL political parties. I can just see this guy getting his mouth around a 7 inch tall hoogie...yuck, although it's a better image than Dion spilling his yogurt on his tie or Layton dropping his walnut salad down his front. Who's Doing What? Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 The guy microwaved lettuce??? Wow is he ever out of touch...... Quote Harper differed with his party on some key policy issues; in 1995, for example, he was one of only two Reform MPs to vote in favour of federal legislation requiring owners to register their guns. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/election/bio/harper.html "You've got to remember that west of Winnipeg the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are either recent Asian immigrants or recent migrants from eastern Canada: people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society." A few crumbs from the table for the average Joe, but gluttony for the potentate. Quote
guyser Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 It is things like this that make the guy likeable IMO. And it seems so Canadian. And really, how can I slag a guy that has a Leaf sweater hanging in his room. Good on ya Harper. Quote

Completely agreed. Harper's gut is a bit of an embarassment. He wins a couple majorities, keeps eating like that and he'll end up the size of Helmut Kohl by the time he leaves the PMO. Michael Bluth Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 Yeah, it's unfortunate Harper is pandering to Leafs' fans. That guy will do anything to win a majority. Quote No one has ever defeated the Liberals with a divided conservative family. - Hon. Jim Prentice
