That aside...this is a pretty outrageous story. It's not like anyone in the neighbourhood could've benefitted from some free food...I can see why FEMA would just wait until it rots and throw it out. Basically, they over-ordered to the tune of $40 million...the explanation being that the "pressure to perform" meant that they didn't want to run out under any circumstances. Even if you accept that as top-notch boy-scout preparedness as opposed to negligent management of resources...once the true need was determined and this $40 million was found to be excess, shouldn't they have done something with it rather than put it in trucks and then toss it? I mean, they can't have planned to store it indefinitely... Maybe they can explain their due diligence here and show they fell victim to improper packaging from the manufacturer or something...but so far, FEMA doesn't seem to be putting up much that would allow one to let them off the hook on this one. I guess Brownie didn't do a "heck of a job" . And New Orleans still is sitting with 60% homes ruined and no housing for those that want to return. It looked downright scary. How they expect to rebuild without any people and any state or city income is beyond me, unless the people of NO want the Gov to do it. Putting the trailers to use would at least kick start some taxes coming in to rebuild. Quote

sharkman Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 Guthrie, I've been scanning the threads, and I've noticed you seem to get into alot of knock down fights with people. Why is that? Many of your comments are sprinkled with sarcastic put downs and name calling which only serves to encourage attacks. I've had a few with you since you came here and it hasn't been particularly enjoyable. Do you enjoy all of the arguments? Quote
Guthrie Posted April 14, 2007 Author Report Posted April 14, 2007 TERA -- you mean the early retirement thing??? Look, you're a fraud. You can shuck and jive from no to eternity and nothing will change it. you are not a retired spy nor a retired submarine commander -- Now, I am tired of hearing your cover story. I really don't care what you do - just that you know, you didn't fool me. now go ahead and spin another story for whatever audience you think you have, don't matter to me Quote “Most middle-class whites have no idea what it feels like to be subjected to police who are routinely suspicious, rude, belligerent, and brutal” - Benjamin Spock MD

It's already been "adjourned"...you have been handed your ass...yet again. Of course you want it to be over.
