Charles Anthony Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 But I'm not protesting! I kinda agree with the Conservative outlook on environmental issues!I was challenging you to imagine. betsy Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 I also challenge you Betsy to figure out a more effective way of getting the attention of your Prime Minister. We hear endless debates and whining about the environment. It's everyday news. These Greenpeace activists are not after his attention. The PM already knows. The only problem is that these activists don't agree with the PM's decision. In a civilized democratic society, we have our way of protesting. What happened to simple marching with placards? That's not good enough anymore? We've seen activists who throw pies on people's faces....or throw paint on people's furs to demonstrate their protests, fighting for their cause. Are these behaviours acceptable? If some radical looney believe that certain establishments....and/or legal practices should not be allowed (such as aborting babies), and decide to "get the government's attention" to these issues by some daring means....is that okay? What message are we sending to the youth today? If you don't agree with your government's policy, change it by force? Caledonia is an example of how some things could get out of hand. Where do you draw the line? Quote

Charles Anthony Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Where do you draw the line?I do not think you can draw a line. What message are we sending to the youth today? The message is obvious to me: agents of the government and their crony-friends exert their force upon everybody else. The results are horrifyingly demonic acts against humanity and the environment. What do you expect the youth to think??? If you don't agree with your government's policy, change it by force?I would not say that is right. However, I believe it is foolish to expect people to be complacent. betsy Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 The message is obvious to me: agents of the government and their crony-friends exert their force upon everybody else. It's an ELECTED government, nonetheless. The term "everybody else" is too encompassing. The results are HORRIFYINGLY DEMONIC acts against humanity and the environment. Horrifyingly demonic? Here? In Canada? What demonic acts? Be specific, please. What do you expect the youth to think??? That in a DEMOCRATIC society, if you are not pleased with the current government in power, you can use your right to vote to have your say. If you don't agree with your government's policy, change it by force? I would not say that is right. However, I believe it is foolish to expect people to be complacent. Yes, we know that some poeple express their views in negative ways, to say the least....but putting a positive label on such un-democratic and bullying actions should not be the public's reaction. Praise for such "courage" for braving the harsh elements may put some ugly ideas into some impressionable youths craving for attention. The RCMP should've delayed finding the right cutter as much as they could....just to give these loonies a good lesson. Quote
blueblood Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 The RCMP has a sworn duty to protect the safety of everyone, including greenpeace protesters chained to a fence, leaving them chained to a fence out of spite is not a good idea for them.
