Another parody of an equally-useless topic, brought to you by the fine people at Expose the Idiocy Inc.
Come one Gerry - The comparison between Dion and Kerry may or may not be reasonable - but comparing two leftish politicians in two similar democratic countries is a legimate topic for discussion.

To fly a plane, you need both a left wing and a right wing.

Not really. The comparison is justified in the parodied topic because that poster identified them both as doing a "flip flop".

It's childish nonsense, the only purpose of which is to mock Dion.

I sense a real desperation on the Canadian right. They're stacking up Dion to Harper, and don't like what they see....and the only thing they can think of doing is a swiftboat routine.

Swiftboat routine. The Irony there is easy to spot!

I believe that this thread was started to illustrate the idiocy of another equally absurd thread.

So, its kind of like that rule kids use on the playground that if you hit me, then I get to hit you back?

Either way, a topic on Kerry being similar to Dion isn't even close to comparing Harper to Stalin, which is pretty far fetched.

Gerry, your clearing in violation of many forum rules here:

NO TROLLING/FLAMING

Do not post inflammatory remarks just to annoy people. If you are not bringing anything new to the argument, then do not say anything at all.

Anything to back up your claim, or are you just being inflammatory? Violation number one.

Some messages are not so much offensive as simply nuisance value. An example would be a person who persistently creates conflict without contributing anything useful. In newsgroup circles, such a person is known as a "troll". We define "trolling" as a message that serves no constructive purpose and is likely to cause offence or arguments.

Ok troll, violation number two.

People who have a history of antagonistic behaviour will be treated more harshly than those who do not.

More the reason for you to 'disappear.'

RESEARCH YOUR POST

If you are stating a fact, be prepared to back it up with some official sources (websites, links etc).

Clear violation number three.

MEMBER REMOVAL

Any user who fails to abide by these rules will be banned without warning.

I think it may be nearing that time. Maybe things should be done politically and gerry should just stop... but somehow I doubt he'd do that.

Then so is the topic that I'm parodying Geoffrey, did you also whine about that one?

I disagree it's on the same level. Dion=Kerry is far more reasonable then Harper=Stalin...

Like there hasn't been a Bush=Harper thread before...

I'm actually wondering Gerry, have you ever made comparison's between Harper and Bush? So then what is wrong with comparing Dion and Kerry, why is that so much more "controversial"?

A parody is explicitely non-serious. It's not required to be "reasonable", only to mirror it's target.

I know you're in your 20's Geoffrey, and don't fault you for your politics or your experience. You should strive for fairness by your age though.

I think Gerry is being vindictive. And the whole board is being forced to go on this ride

He personally attacks me on the other thread, and reported me to Greg to what he felt was a “third party insult.”

I had been anxiously waiting for any warning or message from Greg, but fortunately there was none at all…so I am assuming Greg did not find anything wrong with what I wrote. And I am assuming, this only got Gerry all the more mad and out to provoke me in any way into getting down to his level!

This is harassment! To post a new thread just so to engage in personal attack and insult…and then directly put the link to mine, just so to make sure we all know who is the “idiot” he’s referring to!

And what does this statement mean?

"For those outraged looking for a place to express your outrage, I give you the source:"

Is Gerry trying to get others to gang up on me here? Is he forming a lynch mob? A personal bash-fest?

Not to mention being an annoyance. He’s being disruptive. It’s like having a spoiled brat who’s deliberately making all sorts of noises to keep people from having their discussion.

Just because he does not see it as relevant to him…therefore he thinks it should not be discussed at all!

He trying to take over the board!

He uses personal insults and put-down remarks without restraint! Including to newcomers!

Without even bothering to disguise it with any form of, or even make any attempt at discussion. He is just plainly trashing the threads that he does not agree with!

http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index....opic=7458&st=15

So he's gravely in violation of this as well:

“INSULTS

Insults are the ammunition of the unintelligent - do not use them. It is okay to criticize a policy, decision, action or comment. Such criticism is part of healthy debate. It is not okay to criticize a person's character or directly insult them, regardless of their position or actions. Derogatory terms such as "loser", "idiot", etc are not permitted unless the context clearly implies that it is not serious. Rule of thumb: Play the ball, not the person (i.e. tackle the argument, not the person making it).

People who have a history of antagonistic behaviour will be treated more harshly than those who do not. “

The thing is that it wasn't a comparison to Kerry, it was an attempt to paste the "flip-flop" label to Dion.

Malicious intent? A parody? The only intent of a parody is to demonstrate the ridiculousness of the target. If you feel hurt and upset by that and consider it "malicious" I would suggest you are being a little overly fragile. The target of this parody was, quite obviously, ridiculous.

If it's OK for you to post a topic labelling Dion the equal to Kerry because you believe he's done something that can be called "flip flopping", then is it OK for me to post a topic labelling Harper a "war monger" because he supported Bush's war in Iraq? Or can I say he and Bush are one and the same in their feelings on Iraq...and because Bush is a failure in his foreign policy therefore so is Harper? I guess I could post such things betsy, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a parody pop up and people calling my topic a ridiculous swiftboat routine.

Gerry,

If you felt that the thread was ridiculous you should have at least responded about the tread,on the thread.

You didn't even make a comment on it.....I know, you'll say it wasn't worth commenting on, but creating a new thread to respond to that thread was okay.Did you even read the thread?

Once again the subject becomes Gerryhatrick.

You're just plain trolling.

No, not hurt or upset. I'm just amazed about the ease with which you flaunt breaking the rules of this forum, as outlined by the various evidences provided on this thread. And this has been going on for quite sometime.

I guess if you cannot understand the difference between the Kerry thread and this thread, which several fellow-posters had explained to you in simple terms ...then there's no point I guess in even acknowledging your posts or comments.
