gc1765 Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 From the globe and mail: MEXICO CITY — Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador launched a parallel government Monday and swore himself in as Mexico's “legitimate” president, a ceremony the leftist hopes will keep alive his protests to undermine the man who defeated him at the polls. Link It will be interesting to see how this plays out (and I don't mean interesting in a good way)... Quote Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable. - Jeffrey Sachs (from his book "The End of Poverty")
Charles Anthony Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 More power to him. From the same article: Based in Mexico City, Mr. Lopez Obrador's parallel government has its own cabinet, but it will not collect taxes or make laws and will rely on donations to carry out its plans. “I swear to honour and fulfill the constitution as the legitimate president,” Mr. Lopez Obrador said to tens of thousands of supporters in Mexico City's main plaza, the Zocalo. I am interested too and I DO mean in a good way! Quote We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society. << Où sont mes amis ? Ils sont ici, ils sont ici... >>
gc1765 Posted November 21, 2006 Author Report Posted November 21, 2006 I am interested too and I DO mean in a good way! This is the part that concerns me: Leftist protesters have demonstrated in the southern city of Oaxaca for months, demanding the governor's ouster, despite the presence of federal police. Many worry that Mr. Lopez Obrador will follow suit and renew street protests in central Mexico City, which his supporters blockaded for nearly two months this summer following the election......This month, Mexico City was rattled when several bombs exploded at political offices and banks. No one was injured, and a small, radical group not tied to Mr. Lopez Obrador claimed responsibility Quote Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. Charles Anthony Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Why? Because they are Leftists? or Because they do not collect taxes? or Because they are fighting fire with fire? or Because they oppose corrupt governments? One thing that right-wingers rarely realize is that oppression leads people to resort to violence. Quote We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society. << Où sont mes amis ? Ils sont ici, ils sont ici... >>

I dont like seeing violence whether it is caused by right-wingers or left-wingers.
